Thanks LouisBooth! I found stuff on the internet but I'm just not certain I believe in the trinity like others do. I believe God sent us Jesus and Jesus is God's one and only son and I believe the Holy Spirit was with Jesus and the Holy Spirit is with us all. It is hard to say what I believe because I think God is capable of being everywhere. Trinity to me sounds like God made a body and jumped in and pretended to be Jesus a son of God but really it was him all along. Trinity seems to have figured out God and I don't think it is possible to figure out God. I will agree that we must follow Jesus' teachings as they do come from God. I believe we should worship God and pray to God through Jesus. I believe the Holy Spirit guides us. The only thing I guess I don't understand is why would Jesus tell us "why do you call me good...only my father in heaven is good." Jesus didn't want us to worship him but to worship his father. I don't wish to prove trinity is wrong...but I don't want to have to believe in something in order to fit in. I did find that the trinity doctrine will continue to change a little and that everyone has a little different interpretation of it....so who knows. I'm game...show me the proof.

John 20:17 - "Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not ; for I am not ascended to my Father ; but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father , and your Father ; and to my God and your God "
By pure logic, if Jesus Christ has a God, and he is a God, that totals more than one God, and thus would be considered idolatry to have more than one God that one worships !!
By pure logic - A son can become a Father, but a Father can not become a son of himself !! To think otherwise is totally illogical and confusion, which comes from the adversary !
The word - Word -- comes from the Greek word - "logos" , which is where we get our word "logic" from !

I am a Christian . I do not follow any of the well known denominations, in fact, I don't follow any of them. I follow exactly what the Word of God say, who - what - why - I am who I am -- IN Christ . The Word of God also calls us - saints , and brothers IN Christ.
There is no biblical proof by trinitarians that one can not call themselves a Christian if they do not believe in the trintiy --- It just is not biblical !
Don't fall into any of the condemnation traps by trinitarian theology .

Primarliy, the Trinity is what dwells inside you if you obey Christ's teachings. It is explained in John 14.

Dave I respectfully disagree with you. Louisbooth (sorry posted wrong name 1st time) told me I wasn't a Christian unless I believed in Trinity. I go to a non-denomination church right now but I'm not a member. I am a member of a Baptist church but wanted a place without so much man-made rules.

So, if you obey Jesus's teachings, you have the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit dwelling in you. Three persons, one essense.
You might also want to see Acts 5:32, where Peter says -- " We are witnesses of these things, as is the holy Spirit that God has given to those who obey him."

Hervey, this debate has gone on awhile. And everytime you seemed to be repeating yourself the same scriptures. I say this with the utmost respect of course.

You mean human logic? well, God isn't bound by that. If that is so, Love wouldn't exsist. Just for the record, Hervey is a gnostic, not a christian.

Genesis 1:1 says God did
Hebrews 1: 2 says Jesus did
Proverbs 3: 19 - 20 says that Wisdom did ( interpeted by many as the Holy Spirit...)
so do we believe that there were 3 creators, three Gods?
or do we accept by faith an irrational, illogical ( or perhaps "suprarational", "translogical") trinity - where one is three and three is one

The trinity is very unbiblical. Not only can you not find the word trinity, but you can not even prove that there is a trinity.
No single verse can stand alone ! So Matthew 28:19 which is one of those verses that stands alone, can be considered as being added by man. Nowhere else can you find any of the disciples baptizing in this way ! That is a fact.
If there was a trinity, then God would have given you three arms and three legs and three eyes, but he only gave you two of each ! Another fact !

We all know the word Trinity isn't in the Bible. It's just what Christians call the doctrine of their religion which refers to 1 + 1 + 1 = 1 Wow, that doesn't add up, says Hervey. There's no real logic to that.
Yeah, well, the grace and mercy we recieve from God is a mystery too, we all know that we deserve hell as much as the next person. But no, we're given grace and mercy. Why? I dunno. Just one of the many mysteries of God. Of which I'm VERY VERY thanksful.

Interfaith Discussion has the same discussion going on so I will post my same reply:
I don't think trinity is worth fighting over. I have yet to find anything in the Bible even suggesting that we will lose our Salvation if we believe or don't believe in Trinity. I am not even certain that those who say they believe in the Trinity Doctrine know exactly what it is. I was told on this post (interfaith discussion) that I couldn't call myself a "Christian" if I didn't believe in the Trinity Doctrine.
I have searched the internet for the actual Trinity Doctrine and what I have found is things saying that it will continue to change because nobody can agree 100% on God because it is too complicating for our minds.
To love Jesus and accept Jesus as our Savior is enough to be a Christian. I won't change your beliefs and you won't change mine and I don't think it is necessary that we do. Love is what Jesus asked for and it's hard to find the love within this post.
If you believe in the Trinity Doctrine great but you should know what exactly it is that you say you believe in....so please post the Trinity Doctrine.

There are many other verses that God uses body parts to give us an example to follow - Head - hand - back etc.
Now why do you think God would use human body analogies ? Could it be that God created man in his own image ?

Is it not true that "one" sperm impregnates "One" ovum , and the two become one ? ? Is not this how God created and made man and woman ?

The Word says that a husband and wife are one, and one plus one child equals - Two !

It is called predestination.
All others are followers of Christ, which brings them to the knowledge of God.
