The Time has Come...

For America to make daylight savings time permanent. The Sunshine Protection Act passed in the senate. Now it heads to the House of Representatives. The bill is a bipartisan one that many Americans will surely support. I think it is essential to accentuate the positives we see in our government institutions. They actually worked together in the interests of American citizens. I would shout from my rooftop but my neighbors are too far away to hear. The time has come pun came from the article.

It really doesn't matter, why define noon as the sun over some point in England?
But that said, why are we messing with it? it only creates confusion and anybody affected can find their own solutions. It is not worth the inconvenience created.

I agree with stopping changing the clocks, but lets move back to standard time instead of daylight savings.

It's not like our circadian rythms care about legislatures, after all.

The inconvenience is seen now. I have to pull my mini-grandfather clock down twice a year to change the time hahaha.

And I have to climb a ladder to reset my original Bart Simpson clock.
Lets just pick a time and stick to it. I hate constantly having to figure out a changing offset to the time in other countries.

You present a valid point. I read America tried permanent daylight savings time in the 70s and there was serious backlash. Maybe we should try keeping standard time year round. I agree, pick one and adjust to it.

Yeah we did, I remember waiting for the school bus in the dark for a few months. Boy did people scream about that. The big problem more recently was when the switch affected Halloween and people got upset because the sun went down before they could take the kids trick or treating.

I was only five years old and I do recall the morning was rather dark in Indiana. I don't think Indiana kept DST very long. But when I moved to Virginia it seemed silly with the clocks changing twice a year. I had some issues keeping up with time differences between here and wherever my relatives lived. Half the year Virginia was one hour ahead of Indiana and Texas but same time half the year in Indiana. I think Indiana went to DST and my relatives are all opposed to changing clocks. If there's a way to mess this up again I have faith congress could find it. Regardless, some people will be unhappy if the bill passes or fails. So far the time change has only affected me one time in regards to being late. My alarm clock was set on the wrong year and didn’t recognize the DST switch. Ironically, it was the only time I ever relied on technology to change my clock for me. Often I seem to learn lessons the hard way. I doubt I'm the only one haha.
