  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The case was made in the post above that said, "it reads the same in the Greek".
It is your job to prove it doesn't. You yet to do that. You seem to think any answer is the correct one. The lack of depth and unwillingness to put the time in to actually address anything seems to be the norm here.
Sadly, in this case if you had put the time in to look you would have seen what was posted was true and you would have either liked the post or moved on silently in intellectual dishonesty holding onto the false interpretation that you started with.

Be that as it may, you asked so here is the an Interlinear. We went ahead and put a bold emphasis on the words to which you question in respect to whether they were in the Greek. Beside each word is it's translation, it being a Interlinear. If you like we can talk of the grammar and syntax. But it really isn't necessary.

One can clearly see the context is uninterrupted.
Because Grammatically speaking the context is continuous from verse 1 to at least 31 when it speaks of Christ coming with His angels to gather the elect at the end of this world.

How do we know? By His use of words like and, but, then, when wherefore, and so forth. These words connect what is about to be said to what is already said as was already stated to you above. And yes they are in the Greek and are for the most part translated correctly in most of our English translations.

So that means up to Christ's coming in the clouds of glory with His angels Jesus expected His followers to still be keeping the Sabbath. Because no one to whom He was speaking to is alive today to be alive at the time of the tribulation that is not like any before. This tribulation has not happened yet. How do we know?

Because Jesus said Immediately after this tribulation that is shortened so the Elect are preserved, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. (vs.29-31)

lol Posting the verses in Greek, which anyone can do, does not in any way change what I wrote, and you ignored, in my post 502. What are your credentials as a Greek scholar?

Go reply to my post 502.

Why then would Jesus tell men to live by Every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God, if it no longer "matters to Him" if we believe Him?

Because first off there are eons of Words proceeding from the Mouth of God not recorded in Scripture.

If this ceased the universe would disappear in a moment.

While Scripture is our necessary reference it is not exhaustive.

Living by every Word that proceeds from Him is a daily dynamic experience as we commune with His indwelling presence.

He has the Authority to replace one Covenant with another, and He did.

The declarations associated with the New, are better because they are personalised and reveal what He intends in the moment.

Man made the Sabbath into something God never intended.

Because first off there are eons of Words proceeding from the Mouth of God not recorded in Scripture.

If this ceased the universe would disappear in a moment.

While Scripture is our necessary reference it is not exhaustive.

And yet, Jesus quoted His Father's Teaching showing you exactly what WORDS HE was referring to.

Duet. 8: 1 All the commandments "which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do", that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers.

2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, "whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no".

3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

So it's absurd to believe and promote to others that Jesus said to "Live By" the Words proceeding from the mouth of God that we have never heard.

And yet, that is what you are teaching.

Living by every Word that proceeds from Him is a daily dynamic experience as we commune with His indwelling presence.

So then in your religion, God gives every man different commandments to live by?

Can you provide some Biblical Support for this seductive philosophy?

He has the Authority to replace one Covenant with another, and He did.

And HE defined His Own New Covenant in His Holy Scriptures that Paul said was trustworthy "for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."

And there is nothing in HIS Promise of a New Covenant that prophesied the End of God's Judgment concerning what is Holy, Just and Good.

Can you show me where such a prophesy is written in the Holy Scriptures?

The declarations associated with the New, are better because they are personalised and reveal what He intends in the moment.

Again, this is a seductive philosophy, that every man "Who calls Jesus Lord, Lord, can go about establishing their own righteousness, and commandments and judgments, and then justify them by claiming to do so "In Christ's Name". But Jesus already addressed this in Matthew 7:22,23.

Shouldn't a man let God define His Own New Covenant?

Man made the Sabbath into something God never intended.

Yes, man made God's Holy Sabbath, opening day of deer season, a time to make more money, a day of partying and serving ones self.

I completely agree with you on this statement.

Man made the Sabbath into something God never intended.
Yes, man took the only day in the Bible that God sanctified Gen2:3 Exo20:11 and God said in His own words, is My holy day, the holy day of the Lord, the day to honor Me Isa58:13 and commanded to Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy, work 6 days so one can keep the seventh day Sabbath holy. Exo20:8-11 This is God’s spoken and written Testimony Exo31:18

This is what man did to God’s Sabbath, they flipped it and took something God made holy and turned into a common day, and turned something God made as a common day, for works and labors Exo20:9 and turned into a holy day.

God speaks of what this does in His own words

Eze 22:26 Her priests have [g]violated My law and profaned My holy things; they have not distinguished between the holy and unholy, nor have they made known the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they have hidden their eyes from My Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them

Who is God talking about in this verse? Whose priests is He directing His wrath to?

Don't deceive yourself for a second that priest can't profane Him, but others can. If you want to test this theory be my guest.

No answer? You are applying a verse to everyone when the verse has a specific subset of people that God is angry at. This is problematic at best.

Its profaning God according to God. He is not a respecter of persons. Why He said those who lay aside the commandments of God in lieu of man-made commandments one worships Him in vain and both the teacher and follower of this teaching, leads one to a ditch Mat15:3-14. He said similar to this about our teachings here as well Mat5:19

According to God He compares breaking the Sabbath to idol worship. Why all the commandments are interconnected breaking one we break them all James2:11

Eze 22:15 Also with uplifted hand I swore to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land I had given them—a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands— 16 because they rejected my laws and did not follow my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths. For their hearts were devoted to their idols.

The reason why those who became before us didn't enter their rest, and what we are told not to follow in that same path of disobedience Heb4:6 Heb4:11

I'm not the one you need to convince, its not my commandments, their God’, they are under His mercy seat, its His Testimony.

No wonder. You equal all that go to church on Sunday instead of saturdays as idol worshipers. That is just sad. I don’t think God is going to care that I rest on Sunday rather than Saturday. Your theology makes absolutely no sense and it is absolutely not biblical. A person is saved by the grace of God through faith not by if they worship on Saturday. That is absolute nonsense.

God cared about a tree in Eden. It’s just a tree, right? Or was it a test that changed everything.

I think one is missing the point behind it. It’s not just about Saturday or Sunday, it’s the power behind it and whose voice are we listening to. God commanded one thing, was very specific another power changed it not based on God’s Authroity, He warned us this would happen Dan7:25 and we see a clear history of it, most people followed this power (even without realizing it as it happened so long ago) instead of being faithful to what God said. It’s really a test of our loyalty, because we are told whoever we obey is who we serve (or worship) Rom6:16 And God’s remnant people keep God’s commandments Rev12:17

I am a firm believer God really means what He says. If God commanded us to keep Tuesday holy, who are we to argue with our Maker. He was very specific about His Sabbath and what it means to Him. God stated plainly in His commandments written by the finger of God which is the Holy Spirit of Truth. He never said we can substitute what we don’t agree with for our own man-made ideas. He condemned this teaching Mar7:7-13 Mat15:3-14 I find the Sabbath to be the blessing and delight just as He promised Isa8:13-14 Isa56:2. I believe we are to change our lives around His word, not try to bend the Bible to fit our life. In the end it will be up to God. I think He made His case clearly, but I know you don’t agree, so I guess it will get sorted out soon enough. I do wish you well.

“And he will speak against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One, and he will intend to make alterations in times and in law; and they will be handed over to him for a time, times, and half a time. But the court will convene for judgment, and his dominion will be taken away, annihilated and destroyed forever.”
‭‭Daniel‬ ‭7‬:‭25‬-‭26‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

Did you forget about verse 26? Are you again interpreting this verse to refer to all when it applies to only a subset of people? Not only that but I’d resolved in the next verse?

“So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭12‬:‭17‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

Which commandments? This verse refers to Jesus so the commandments are His not the 10 commandments.

I think He made His case clearly, but I know you don’t agree, so I guess it will get sorted out soon enough. I do wish you well.
But you are missing the fact that He gave us a new covenant and a new covenant has different terms than the old covenant.

“‘And in vain do they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.” He was also saying to them, “You are experts at setting aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition. For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘The one who speaks evil of father or mother, is certainly to be put to death’; but you say, ‘If a person says to his father or his mother, whatever I have that would help you is Corban (that is, given to God),’ you no longer allow him to do anything for his father or his mother; thereby invalidating the word of God by your tradition which you have handed down; and you do many things such as that.””
‭‭Mark‬ ‭7‬:‭7‬-‭13‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

Do you not see your error in quoting these verses? This is a condemnation of the law because no one can keep the law perfectly.

“And He answered and said to them, “Why do you yourselves also break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and, ‘The one who speaks evil of father or mother is to be put to death.’ But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever I have that would help you has been given to God,” he is not to honor his father or mother.’ And by this you have invalidated the word of God for the sake of your tradition. You hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy about you, by saying: ‘This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me. ‘And in vain do they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ” After Jesus called the crowd to Him, He said to them, “Hear and understand! It is not what enters the mouth that defiles the person, but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles the person.” Then the disciples came and *said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this statement?” But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father did not plant will be uprooted. Leave them alone; they are blind guides of blind people. And if a person who is blind guides another who is blind, both will fall into a pit.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭15‬:‭3‬-‭14‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

This is exactly why Jesus was crucified and nailed the law to the cross. No one can keep the law perfectly. Only Jesus was able yo keep the law perfectly so He fulfilled it. No one else could.

You are welcomed to keep the sabbath. You will not get any judgement from me but you have to stop accusing those that do not believe as you of living in sin and being idolaters. You have no right to judge others. That is God’s purview not yours.

irrelevant.

Not according to God, He says He has a people who overcomes and keep His commandments

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

Sadly, the core of this teaching that we can’t keep God’s commandments is that the devil has more power to keep one in sin, than God does to keep us from sin, if we are connected to Him. It’s saying the devil is more powerful than God. It’s not what I believe.

Regard Dan7:25 which is prophetic no I didn’t forget the next verse, it doesn't change the meaning on the verse I quoted. There is a beast power who thought to change God’s times and laws. The only law that is both a time (every seventh day Exo20:10) and law (4th commandment) is the Sabbath commandment and clear history of it being changed not by God.

So temporary while on earth, this power changes God’s times and laws, the Sabbath, the power who did so, that most the whole world has followed or wondered after (thinking like) instead of being faithful to God, but God has a remnant people who obey and are faithful to Him Rev 17:12

God will take His dominion back

26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.

27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

Why the Sabbath continues for worship for eternity in the New Heaven and New earth thus saith the Lord Isaiah 66:22-23 because this is God’s will and has been since Crelation Exo20:11

If we dislike the. Sabbath so much right now, God is a God of love and would never force something against ones will. It’s why His judgement is one of love, because not everyone will be happy in heaven where there is no more sin - sadly people like their sins more than their love for Jesus John3:19-21 and thats what it comes down it. A heart issue. We need to turn from sin now and forsake our sins Pro28:13 and worship the God of Creation Re14:7 Exo20:11 the only God that has the power to sanctify a day Exo20:11 and who can sanctify us Eze20:12 both connected to God’s Sabbath, the Holy Day of the Lord Isa58:13 Mark2:28

I’m not going to continue debating this anymore with you, there’s a time to move on, I do not think either of us is going to change our positions. God will sort everything out in His own time.

Why the Sabbath continues for worship for eternity in the New Heaven and New earth thus saith the Lord Isaiah 66:22-23
““For just as the new heavens and the new earth, Which I make, will endure before Me,” declares the Lord, “So will your descendants and your name endure. “And it shall be from new moon to new moon And from Sabbath to Sabbath, All mankind will come to bow down before Me,” says the Lord.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭66‬:‭22‬-‭23‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

This merely means from week to week. This was a common phrase used by the Jews during biblical times.

4. = week(?): שֶׁבַע שַׁבָּתוֺת Leviticus 23:15 (H), seven sabbaths or weeks; שֶׁבַע שַׁבְּתתֹ (ה)שָּׁנִים Leviticus 25:8 (twice in verse); (H) seven sabbaths or weeks (of years), uncertain (see Mark 16:2, 9; Luke 18:12; Matthew 28:1, compare Jewish-Aramaic usage); possibly שַׁבָּת Isaiah 66:23 = week (Du).

Not according to God those who have entered His rest ALSO keep the Sabbath, why the seventh day was spoken of in this way by God of the Universe Heb4:4,10 Exo20:8-11
““For just as the new heavens and the new earth, Which I make, will endure before Me,” declares the Lord, “So will your descendants and your name endure. “And it shall be from new moon to new moon And from Sabbath to Sabbath, All mankind will come to bow down before Me,” says the Lord.”

It’s from week to week on the Sabbath. You removed the Sabbath from this verse God didn’t. It says from one Sabbath to another all flesh (not just Jews) will come before the Lord, to worship. Isa66:23

The word used for Sabbath in this verse in the new heaven and new earth.
שַׁבָּת shabbâth, shab-bawth'; intensive from H7673; intermission, i.e (specifically) the Sabbath:—(+ every) sabbath.

It doesn’t say we are going to be before the Lord everyday in heaven, Scripture plainly tells us we will be building houses and tending to vineyards and doing things. It’s best to let Scripture define itself especially when it’s the Lord speaking. God does not change, the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God Exo20:10 it is MY holy day, the holy day of the Lord Isa58:13- God does not say this about any other day period. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath- not Lord of the first day. The Sabbath day continues, the first day was and is just a man-made tradition that completes with the Testimony of God. Exo31:18 Deut4:13 Heb8:10 2Cor3:3

Anyway believe as you wish, it will work itself out soon enough.

We‘ve been through those verses before many times. Heb. 4, talks about Jesus rest and Ex. 20 audience was the Jews not the church.

I showed you the Hebrew and you still hold on to an unbiblical understanding which does not match the original language or the historical context.
