Personally ... I was initially going to vote to make this an open forum because Nadroj is sorely missed and I liked him being here. Then I thought a bit more, swung to undecided, and then made the vote I didn't think I'd make ... this should remain Christian only. No forum should be changed just because of one member, and what we have at the moment is working quite fine. Before Nadroj left, I saw no need for it to be an open forum, and currently his departure is the only reason for a change in my eyes. And I'm sorry Nadroj, but as I said, a forum can't be changed just for one poster.

i voted for it to change. but really i don't mind. are there that many non-christians in this site? i've only really stuck to the christian forums, so i wouldn't know. either way i can't see it making a huge difference. like someone said, there are other sites where non-christians can talk about music, i can't see it being bombarded and taken over by them.

This is a tough decision for me simply because i agreed in nadro's thread thread i would like the idea of this forum being open to all. That decision was mostly because i still want him to post in here, i really do. I jumped on to the idea to quick without much thought, i was like "thats a good idea!" at least he can still post. I don't want to be hypocritical, Everyone in this thread has made good points, everyone has! but to be honest, i like it the way it is now.

I don't like much Christian music. I have no problem with non-Christians, no problem at all, i just prefer to discuss secular music with fellow Christians, because you can always discuss it with non-Christians. This is a different setting, and it's good. But it's annoying when posters come in waving around the 11th commandment. {sigh} for this reason as well, it doesn't bother me much if it is open to all :)

{end ramble}

Thank you ps139 for giving us democracy :D

Good points, Larry. I added a line to the OP.

I thought you were going to change the overall content of the OP, not just one line. ;)

The vote really should have nothing to do with Nadroj1985 at all, but should be focused on the different factors which I and others had mentioned. As it usually goes in these polls, many merely read the OP then vote. Ideally, there should have been a discussion thread, here in this secular music forum - then the actual poll thread afterwards.

I agree with ps139 and Axver. As much as I would like to hear Nadro's opinions, it would be foolish to change the structure over one member. I will still post in the secular forum if it is moved (which seems to be the likely fate), but it will be slightly discouraging.

I voted for it to stay here, simply because I think its a good idea to keep all the other christian music and this together. I also like discussing and seeing discussions on christians in the field of secular music, and such like, but I feel that this is easiest with just other christians.

Maybe an idea would be to have another music forum in the 'All Users' section, like is done for example with the Science Creation and Evolution bit. Its nice to be able to dicusss ecular music in a christian way, but it would be good to have another forum for discussion of the music alone for all users.

Also, people posting about the evils of secular music (if non christians were able to see it) would hardly be a good evangelistic tool now would it?

I do not know what you expect me to do, honestly. I purposely separated the OP from my own opinion post. I tried to make the OP as neutral as possible. A responsible voter will read through the whole thread before voting. and yes, we should have discussed it before the vote. I realize that now.

It is a great idea, but Erwin will not do this. He has made that very clear - no double forums. Its either Christians only or open.

I think it should be moved. After all, it is about SECULAR music and those who congragate here who happen not to believe should be able to go into a forum and talk about the music they love. I also think some of the other boards that have nothing to do with faith issues should be moved. Such as the whole musicians forum.

Personaly I would like to se it opened up to all. I never enjoy Christian only conversations, I like to hear every ones views. Especaily on something as close to my heart as music (I am after all a DJ). As for promoting bands that may not have a christian ethos or that may have an ethos that some Christians feel unsomfortable with, well this is the forum for secular music. Besides, I am a Christian and some of the bands I love may well make some christians uncomfortable in their lyrical content or what have you. I do recall years ago a very strong conflict between many Christian groups in the UK and "Heavy metal music", but I see from other threads many of the bands condemned then have a number of fans here.

Edit; UK not UL. Must get a new keyboard, all the characters have begun to wear off this one.

Right. My point was that Nadroj1985 should not have been a decision factor at all. Yet, he seems to be the main focal point in the OP. ;)

Thing is, as the votes accumulate, so does the number of posts in the poll thread. By and large, it is the points in the OP which are primarily considered when voting in these polls. not the ever expanding thread. ;)

I'd like it to just be totally removed. I see no benefit for Christians to discuss secular music.

why did you vote christians only? Why vote at all? What is your purpose here? Do you think the whole forum should be removed because of "your" "opinion" of you see the bible?

Larry I sincerely do not see it that way. Perhaps you could show me the instances where you think it focuses too much on one person? I did mention him because he started the thread in the other forum, and I guess you could call him the catalyst for all of this. But thats all. Let me know where you think I put too much focus on him.

That's cool.

By the way, what is the window for this poll? What is the cut-off date?
