Yeah that's gone way down. Good deal for the first FF series that went for a rating of Mature. :ahah:

I knew nothing about Type-0, so i must ask SquareEnix what's the deal with needing a Mature rating? I mean, hard violence or lots of swearing was never needed in an FF game. Did newcomers to the series who didn't play any FF game before the PS3 and XBox360 generation complain about Final Fantasy games not being hardcore enough like an FPS for them or something?

Nope, quite the opposite actually. Final Fantasy just got real, is all. I mean with war. It's ... quite sad. It got me to tear up a bit. I do like the story, it's just.... they just NEED to let go of the L'cie! They had something going and then they had to bring them back! Ugh!

Yeah, the subject matter does kind of call for a "darker" more gritty FF game.

Is there a lot of exploration like a typical RPG, or is it more an action game?

It's not linear like XIII was, however, the system itself is work, and by that I mean you have 16 playable characters. The battle system is action, think Tales or Star Ocean. Each character is unique with different abilities - and that is what I mean by work. Your main character is sent to an Academy where you will have missions and side quests, but you have to be careful what you accept because you have a limit based off time. That part of the game is kinda neat, but I really can't stand summoning as your party is "sacrificed" to control a summon. It's like a bad scene from Transformers...

Okay. A time limit? That's interesting. Yeah, I saw summoning in the gameplay video and was facepalming. lol

There just isn't a wealth of RPG's on the PS4 right now. Has anyone played Dishonored?

Yeah, you know, like going to class to class; only if you accept a mission or sub quest it takes so many hours out of your day.
I have not played Dishonored.

Oh, okay. That's kind of a cool system.

What's the combat like in X and X-2?

If memory serves correct, it's turn based.
Now in X-2 I did like a unique summoning method where one of the characters would take on a new persona using the two remaining party characters. Yuna's was my favorite.

Back to youtube for game play videos. Lol

I might just wait until I can get a good price on Tales of Zestiria.

Wow. Sounds like you REALLY want him to play Tales of Zestiria, Swan. ^_^

... speaking of which, now that I have come to the conclusion of Resident Evil Revelations as of last night, tonight I shall move on to Tales of Destiny 2. Since it is a relatively new game in my collection, it deserves another round of play already, methinks.

Can't be helped! It's a good game, SK!

Well, I seem to have become more of an objective stickler for older installments in any given video game franchise that I have come to respect, so for now I must be on with the much-older Tales of Destiny 2.
^-^

(I did play through about the first half of Tales of Vesperia once about four years ago with two of my friends in a single weekend, but, as much as I liked it, for some reason I just sort of forgot about it afterwards. Like Tales games, the Star Ocean games would certainly be a blast if they had the multiplayer feature, wouldn't they?)

yes, I have a lot of respect for those as well. Among those classics I have come to love - Legend of Legaia.

I know! For some reason I had the same problem with Tales of Vesperia. I liked it, but for some reason just couldn't find the time for it and then forgot about it... o_O

One of the two friends I had played ToV with that weekend seemed to hail it as his best RPG of all time, not just personal favorite Tales installment. He mentioned having played it through to completion - side questing and all - several times since it first came out. Which sounds almost as frequent as I played through Final Fantasy 7 in the first two years since it came out. ... And my friend, that is quite a bit.

Naturally, Princess Estellise was my favorite character going through Tales of Vesperia. I fell in love with her right away. :satisfied:

... Oh, Legend of Legaia, being so little known, was shockingly pleasing as an RPG experience. One of the best twenty bucks I ever spent on a brand new game in my life, and that was way back in 2000, perhaps not even a full two years after it came out. I definitely got a bargain there.
