  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So it was Gleason himself in his application for a patent, who said it came from a glob map: "his own patent application for the map describes it as a projection from a globe."

But the Map has not changed any. Has it ?

What do you mean? If he made it as he says he did, from a map of a globe earth, and made no changes, it would still be a map of a globe earth.

Fish eyed lens explained.

Instead of posting a video explaining a fish eye lens, how about showing a photo of a disc (a CD, for example) taken with a normal lens, and another picture of that same disc taken using a fish eye lens? That would show whether a fish eye lens actually would make a disc look like a sphere. Your video actually says that a fish eye lens produces a panoramic or hemispherical image, not a spherical image.

But that is not it at all. The first image does not show a disc, just a rectangular picture of water and a mountain. The second picture does not show a sphere, just a curved version of the first picture.

So the Gleason's map is correct & it was exactly the same map as the guy in the video was showing.

It is a flat projection of a globe. As such, only the Arctic remains relatively undistorted, but the rest of the map becomes increasingly distorted the further South you go. As I have already pointed out, the Gleason map shows Australia to be twice the width of the USA which is actually 315 miles wider than Australia.

I wasn't talking about whether or not his map was correct, or whether it was the map shown in the video you posted, but the fact that Gleason himself said that he made it by taking a map of the globe earth, and adapting it.

How did he adapt it ?

A quote posted earlier by Hentenza tells us:

“But while Gleason argued the earth is flat in his book, his application to the U.S. Patent Office for the map appears to contradict this. The application states that the map is extracted from the earth as a globe. Specifically, Gleason said: “The extortion of the map from that of a globe consists, mainly in the straightening out of the meridian lines allowing each to retain their original value from Greenwich, the equator to the two poles.” (my emphasis)

Meridian lines on a map are imaginary lines running vertically from the North Pole to the South Pole.

Of course, and they exist on maps of a globe earth and on maps of a flat earth, but Gleason said that he had to straighten out of the meridian lines on a globe earth map to turn it into his flat earth map.

Yes - Imaginary.

Thew lines on the maps exist. The lines themselves are not imaginary. I think what you mean is that they don't represent physical lines on the earth. Gleason explains how he adapted the lines on a map of the globe earth to make his flat earth map.

So, I've pointed out on a video that flat earthers apparently love to post, of video recording from a high altitude balloon when the envelope bursts, that if you pause the video and then step through frame by frame, when the horizon in smack in the middle of the camera lens, it still curves down.

So, that's what it does through a fish eyed lens.
