Yes, it is COMPLETELY amazing! How did you miss in Romans that we died to the law and were joined to Christ? You say the opposite (as indicated below, with out of context quotations of Scripture!)?

Nice excuse to escape from all of the texts that i have posted. I have taken all of those text out of context. If that is true then the world is flat.

Rom 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
Rom 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
Rom 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

What Law are we delievered or made free from?

Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

We are free from the Law of Sin and Death. Is that the same as the Law of God?

Rom 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Rom 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

The Law of Sin in his members is another Law besides the Law of God. Which Law does Paul have in his mind. Which Law does the Law of Sin war against?

Rom 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

ALL about the law (Moses), NOTHING about Christ! Who (what) is your Savior?

So the Law is the property of Moses now?

Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

1Jo 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
1Jo 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1Jo 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Peter told us what has become all too evident....It seems that those who want to reject
God’s “10 Commandments” have a fetish with Paul’s writings. The untaught and unstable twist his writings beyond description. It seems they will do anything rather that simply obey God, even though His ways are good for us. Paul would be appalled.

2Pet.3:15 and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.

In Ro. 2:30-31 God tell us the answer to the question should we sin. 30 since there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. 31 Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.
And again in Ro. 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

And again in Ro. 6:15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! (or in the King James, God forbid)16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? And if we continue in a life style of sin we are slaves to sin not God.

And again in Ro. 7:6-7 But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.
7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”

And once more just to make sure we have it. Gal. 2:17“But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not! This same Paul said in 1Cor. 7:19Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments of God is what matters.

According to Paul “the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.
13 Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful. 14 For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. (Ro. 7:12-14)

The sacrifices are done away because there is no need for them after Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice. The animal sacrifices all pointed toward the sacrifice of Christ our Passover. The ceremonial washings pointed toward our baptism and our life of overcoming with God’s help; cleansing us of SIN. Circumcision pointed toward the opening of our heart to God’s way of life i.e. God Law. It is true that these physical laws are done away with.

BUT; God’s spiritual and moral Law will never be done away. Reference Mat. 5:18For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.

Paul also delighted in God’s law. Ro. 7:22 For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. This is the same as King David in Ps. 119:97-98.

You know there can be no sin unless there is a law to transgress (break) Ro. 5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. The fact that the world was filled with SIN before the flood is proof in itself that God’s Law was in effect before it was codified at Mt. Sinai.

The law must still be in effect because 1Jo. 1:8 says “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”

I guess at this point we should find a Bible definition for SIN. So let’s go to 1Jo. 3:4 Whoever commits sin also transgresses the law; for SIN IS the transgression of THE LAW..... 22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.

Sense we know that we are saved by faith and not by works, what does Paul mean when he says. Ro. 2:13(for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified. If we have faith we will believe who we have faith in. So if we say we have faith in God we will believe what He says and we will obey Him. We have already read that we are slaves to whom we OBEY. Jesus plainly told us which law we must obey in Mk. 10:17-19Now as He was going out on the road, one came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?” 18 So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. 19 You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Do not defraud,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother. This is an obvious reference to the “Ten Commandments”

It is true that we puny humans have no power to get for ourselves eternal life. God says that eternal life is His gift to us. Ro. 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This could go on and on but I think we have enough here for any thinking person to see that we must keep God’s “Ten Commandments.”

We must know that eternal life in the Kingdom is God’s gift to give to whom He will.
He will not give eternal life to rebels that will not obey Him. It’s really just that simple.

Context to you is whatever is in keeping with your belief.
No, it is without the servitude toward a denominationally driven agenda who's purpose is to lead back to the law Jesus Christ has redeemed us from.

You're all over the map pulling texts that suit your needs while ignoring the context they were written in. Read the whole letter together (it only takes a half hour or so). Quoting a few texts here and there that may seem to support a man-made organization's stated beliefs doesn't make it so.

Thats my advice to you. After you read the entire chapter you will not come to the conclusion that the law is not for us. You speak of context but you stick to three verses of the whole chapter to support your point. I have read both chapters 7 and 8 which must be read together. Your excuse to get you out is that i am taking the text out of context. Is anyone else buying that excuse?

Oh yes! Same thing applies. I pick up that you believe that we are under the old covenant (or that the old and new are identical), and that Jesus didn't do what he said he came to do (fulfill the law). I saw a similar smorgasboard of 'proof texts'.

Nice to have you here with us. I don't think I've seen you here before.

When was the law commanded to you?

I have quoted whole chapters many times. Never have they been refuted except with poor attempts using proof texts out of their context.

I have read both chapters 7 and 8 which must be read together.
According to who? Try 6 and 7 together. 8 moves on to the Holy Spirit (the chapter where He's mentioned the most). And even still, Romans is a letter. It was intended to be read as a whole giving instruction to the Roman Christian church. Paul's argument is developed (which explains why some pull certain verses out to suit their own agendas).

Your excuse to get you out is that i am taking the text out of context. Is anyone else buying that excuse?
I don't have an excuse. Paul confirms me being condemned by the law (as well as every human on the face of the planet). The 'way out' is Jesus Christ, and apart from him there is ONLY condemnation (of which there is none for those in Christ Jesus).

You can cling to the law (instead of dying to it), but it will only bring death. Life is in Jesus Christ (the Spirit gives life).

In Christ alone...

Come on PK! This is why I did not want to get into it with you. You are ripping passages out of context to support your own reasoning and ideas. I will point out one thing that you are doing wrong. As I get tired of dealing with those who won't even consider they may be wrong. Oh...I guess the world is flat!:D

(Rom 7:5) For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death.

What law is arousing Pauls sinful flesh? The ten commandment law?

(Rom 7:6) But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.

Is the law and the written code the same thing in this passage?

(Rom 7:7) What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, "You shall not covet."

Its clear from this passage that the law is the same law that says not to covent. Is this the same law spoken of in Romans 7:4 ? Remember now Context. Read it as any other literature

I stand by my posts. I did not take anything out of context. The same law that is in Paul's members is the law of sin and death. However in all of this i never said what the law of sin and death was. That is because i am divided in thought on what exactly it is. My original reasoning was that it was the lusts of the flesh however i was leaning to believe that it is the same law. Meaning that the Law of sin and death is the Law of God. It is referred as to the Law of sin and death in the view of someone living in the flesh not in the spirit. When you live in the flesh Gods law becomes the Law of sin and death because you cannot keep in and therefore break it and must pay the penalty of the sin which is death. On the other hand for someone walking by the spirit God's Law is not a law of sin and death but a law of liberty according to James.

You accused me of taking the text out of context. You say that the law spoken of in verse is the 10 commandments. You or someone else says that the law of sin and death is the 10 commandments and i am accused of taking the text out of context because the text says that we are free from the Law of sin and death which is basically what you believe anyway.

I have one question. If the Law of Sin and Death is the 10 commandments then explain this text to me.

Rom 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
Rom 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Rom 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
Rom 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Rom 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

These verses is why i am lead to believe that the Law of Sin and Death is not the Law of God. So if you want to get through to me you have to explain these verses to me.

Jesus made His attitude toward God’s Law plain in the “Sermon on the Mount.”
Jesus made three emphatic declarations about The Law.

In Mat. 5:17 Jesus said “Do not (even) think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. The word “fulfill” in this verse means
“to make full, to fill, to fill up, to fill to the full, or to render full i.e. to complete” (Thayer’s Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament, 2002. Strong’s # 4137)

In Mat. 5:18 Jesus said “For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.” The word fulfilled in this verse means “to become, to come into existence, or to come to pass” Thayer’s Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament, Strong’s #1096.

In Mat. 5:19 Jesus said “Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least (by those) in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

In Gal. 5:19-21 We read 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Jesus came to teach the full intent of The Law, the spirit of The Law. After saying that our righteousness must exceed the righteousness of the scribes and the Pharisees to inter the Kingdom in Mat. 5:20-22 He began to teach that just not committing murder was not good enough. Jesus taught that even hating was the same thing. Then in verses 27-28 He teaches the same thing about adultery and lust. In doing this Jesus was fulfilling a prophecy in Isa. 42:21 where He was prophesied to “exalt” or “magnify” The Law and make it honorable.

Jesus was giving us the true intent of the law not what the teachers of His day had distorted them into.

This in no way means that we can earn salvation. We can’t do anything in our short, pathetic, weak lives to earn salvation. We have nothing in this life that is worth eternal life.
Only God’s grace and mercy can cause Him to give us eternal life. But God has made it more that plane that He will not give eternal life to anyone He can not trust or rule.

(Rom 7:6) But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.

Hello Adventtruth
You really gotta get a King James. Whatever your reading has been written by someone with an agenda and it wont help ya one bit "in that day".

2 COR. 3 [6] WHO ALSO HATH MADE US ABLE MINISTERS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT; NOT OF THE LETTER, BUT OF THE SPIRIT: FOR THE LETTER KILLETH, BUT THE SPIRIT GIVETH LIFE. [7] BUT IF THE MINISTRATION OF DEATH, WRITTEN AND ENGRAVEN IN STONES, WAS GLORIOUS, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: [8] HOW SHALL NOT THE MINISTRATION OF THE SPIRIT BE RATHER GLORIOUS? [9] For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. [10] For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. [11] FOR IF THAT WHICH IS DONE AWAY WAS GLORIOUS, MUCH MORE THAT WHICH REMAINETH IS GLORIOUS.

As we can see in above scripture we are now to walk in the spirit of the law. If we walk in only the letter of the law this will lead to death, but if we walk in the spirit of the law this leads to life.

ROMANS 7 [6] But now we are DELIVERED FROM THE LAW, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should SERVE IN NEWNESS OF SPIRIT, AND NOT IN THE OLDNESS OF THE LETTER.

Well Adventtruth, heres the scripture from Romans that you dont quite understand. This says the same as 2 Cor.3. Keep the law in newness of spirit and be delivered from the (curse) of the letter. Did Jesus explain how we are to walk in newness of the spirit? Sure did.

MATTHEW 5 [20] For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. [21] Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, THOU SHALT NOT KILL; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: [22] BUT I SAY UNTO YOU, THAT WHOSOEVER IS ANGRY WITH HIS BROTHER WITHOUT A CAUSE SHALL BE IN DANGER OF THE JUDGMENT: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

OLD LETTER- Thou shalt not kill
NEW SPIRIT- Don’t even get angry. Call no man a fool. Love one another in thought, word and deed.

MATTHEW 5 [27] Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY: [28] BUT I SAY UNTO YOU, THAT WHOSOEVER LOOKETH ON A WOMAN TO LUST AFTER HER HATH COMMITTED ADULTERY WITH HER ALREADY IN HIS HEART.

OLD LETTER- Thou shalt not commit adultery
NEW SPIRIT- Do not look on a woman to lust. Keep the law in our mind and spirit. Even in our eyes.

So you can see that Jesus did not do away with the letter of the law Adventtruth. Common sense will tell ya in order to walk in the spirit of the law you must also be walking in the letter. Can you commit the very act of adultry and then claim you have not sinned because you did not lust after her with your eyes because they were closed. Jesus made the commandments even harder to keep and more honorable. He did not come along speaking smooth things as many profess and as prophecy is fulfilled.

ISAIAH 42 [20] Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not.[21] The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; HE WILL MAGNIFY THE LAW, and make it honourable.

Yes Adventtruth, Jesus magnified the law. He took the letter of the law (which leads to death) and magnified the law to a spiritual level (which leads to life). Aint the WORD of God great

Let me ask you Adventtruth. Can you keep the spirit of the law without 1st walking in the letter?

The examples you gave were also examples of how Jesus fulfilled the Law. As I said before the original Greek says "to fill" and it was translated fulfill. Jesus "Filled" the law in terms of its meaning. Jesus expounded what the Law really means. He took the Law a step further and fulfilled. It was not incomplete but Jesus brought its full meaning to light.

Great Post!

"of the law" is missing in those texts. Spirit is defined in 2 Cor 3 and it is not the essence of the law.

Here in the KJV "17Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."

Note: it is not the spirit of the law, but the Spirit. It is God!
