Some of the most successful woo woo ever.
Correct. And a movement built out of the flaunting of resources and privilege, not improving or increasing the availability of food.

"In conclusion, research suggests a direct link between sugar and cancer. Preclinical studies and studies of people with MetS show that high-sucrose or high-fructose diets activate several mechanistic pathways, including inflammation, glucose, and lipid metabolic pathways, suggesting a causal link between excess sugar consumption and cancer development and progression that is independent of weight gain. Dietary guidelines and US policy need to reflect this new knowledge. Concerted action is needed to lower sugar intake in the US and other countries, better inform the public of the risks of excess sugar intake, and conduct more robust research in the field of added sugar and cancer."

Sorry, I thought they were referring to coffee but they were in fact talking about sugar.

Energy drinks, stroke and heart issues — oh, my!

Surprised to see stroke in the list above? It’s true. Energy drinks can also trigger stroke. A stroke is like a heart attack but in your brain. The condition that can cause a stroke after downing an energy drink is called reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS). This sudden spasm of the blood vessels in your brain can either restrict its blood supply or cause a hemorrhage.

“It’s not uncommon for individuals to feel jittery or anxious after consuming caffeine alone,” Sommer warns. “But when you consume excessive amounts and combine this with the stimulant effect of the additional ingredients, like guarana, it can amplify the psychological and neurological effects. It may also have cardiovascular effects, like an increased heart rate and blood pressure, and may even lead to stroke.”

I like you bella you are woke. you know what is really going on.

There’s a poem from Rumi along those lines that was an influence. ;-)

as I need to watch the carbs as I have diabetes type 2. Heard it can be reversed that way and I really feel amazing doing it

I don’t have firsthand experience with diabetes but ancient grains came to mind and it appears they may be beneficial. We only consume ancient grains and cereals and I mill them myself. You can learn a bit about them here. We don’t eat modern wheat or refined grains or sugars and we have a whole foods seasonal diet. The bulk of our larder is from local farmers and a company that does the same at a greater scale. We can get larger quantities from them and it’s organic.

As you might expect I make sourdough. It goes with the territory. We make our own detergents and body products and preserve our food as well. I like controlling my ingredients and creating a better product than I can get at the store. Sourcing everything direct is the goal. We get a few things from Costco but I’d like to eliminate them eventually. Self-sufficiency is our priority.

If you want to improve your health don’t limit yourself to your condition. Address it holistically instead. Small improvements make a difference in the long run. Keep making tweaks every year and you’ll see a difference.

I want to get a good smoothie and healthy desert book. going to the book store. I used to have a lot but lost in moves.

Amazon has deals on cookbooks everyday on kindle. They average in price from $1.99 to $3.99. Look under kindle deals and you’ll find them. There’s daily bargains and monthly specials.

With the oversight of a doctor, of course, because telling somebody with type 2 diabetes to manage it holistically based off of information from a random non-professional on the internet is potentially deadly advice… Which we shouldn’t be advocating.
