  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Caffeine source or energy source?

What do you consume to give you energy?

I am currently looking for new ideas.

I have been drinking coffee for a couple of years now. I'm currently drinking a coffee brand that I am convinced is making me feel very bad. The previous brand I drank, I had concerns about a particular ingredient in it. Then there was another brand that I loved and had no problems with, but it's barely made anymore and I have to wait much longer to get the item if I order it.

Thanks. :)

I prefer to get energy through a combination of food, activity and rest. I don’t consume a lot of caffeine. No more than a cup at a time and it isn’t daily. There’s a coffee shortage underway because of weather conditions and prices have doubled in some markets. We saw similar issues with chocolate two years ago and they didn’t come down.

I’d be more inclined to reduce my intake than not. It’s jokingly said within prepping communities how much they could get for bartering coffee and cigarettes. And they’re preparing with that in mind. I think it’s best to reduce dependencies where possible.

. I guess your sensitive to extra caffeine and an overdose of calcium.

Before I was drinking the current coffee brand, I was taking in 100-120mg of caffeine per cup. It didn't bother me.

I believe it's the marine algae in it.

marine algae is a food, possibly sirulina? It is supposed to be good for energy. I’ve had chocolate energy bars with it and it does provide focus. But it’s the caffeine I’m concerned with. Together they may be an overload on your system. It shouldNT be that bad. It just must be the combination.

There are a few ways to steep black tea enough that it hits *something* like coffee.

Green tea has a more subtle effect, but I have to be very careful with it as its caffeine seems to affect me much longer than coffee does.

I've worked nights for many years. Long-term, most important are getting enough sleep, staying hydrated, and paying attention to blood sugar. It's a delicate balance, and coffee is a bit of a sledgehammer. It has its uses, but it's not the answer to everything.
