Iv read some of it.

A globalist or the globalists are a group of powerful world banking families who want to destory christianity...and setup a athiest communist world dictatorship

"It is not the beautiful globalization of unity of all Nations, each one with their own customs, instead it is the globalization of hegemonic uniformity, it is the single thought. And this sole thought is the fruit of worldliness". —POPE FRANCIS, Homily, November 18th, 2013;

Hmmm, maybe i am not the one misreading?
The encyclical is written to the Catholic Church and the whole world. It clearly isn't meant to be read through the lens of a conspiracy theory that isn't even mainstream Catholic.

Well its not a theory if they openenly admit its fact...
It's not mainstream thinking in Catholic (or other) circles.

...and the popes know well what is going on and have been warning about it for a very very long time
No, you've taken papal comments and read them as talking about what you are talking about.

Um, if they openly admitted it, why don't Catholics know about this?

Fair enough ebia... think i will leave this one to the papacy... are you going to "back away slowly from the papacy too?"

“The coming of a world state is longed for by all the worst and most distorted elements. This state, based on the principles of absolute equality of men and a community of possessions, would banish all national loyalties. In it no acknowledgment would be made of the authority of a father over his children, or of God over human society. If these ideas are put into practice, there will inevitably follow a reign of unheard-of terror.” (In Bonum Sane, 1920)

Using their creativity, scientists have been developing ways to save fossil fuel and decrease global warming for years. And the fuel industry has been fighting back--lowering prices to get these pesky scientists to stop.

What Pope Francis adds is the idea that it's not enough. We need to live simpler lives. That's adding a moral component. Not only alternative energy but also alternative values. Common sense has entrepreneurs scrambling to develop new products. The Pope is prophetic.

I can't figure out how to use the quotes feature but the above is beautifully stated. Thank you. May I use it when on social media to help explain my position on this wonderful document? peace.

The Vatican doesn't publish a translation of Bonum Sane, and not being inclined to trust quotes out of context I pasted the quotation given into Google. Funnily enough, all the results are crackpot conspiracy sites.

I can only address the argument you give; to do otherwise would be me creating a strawman.
tsk tsk. :smh: So I name one way we can reduce consumption, and you jump on it as a minor thing. So what do YOU do to reduce consumption in your life, hmh?
How can you claim that your position isn't in conflict with the Pope's until you know what his position is?
Because I know where the pope is authoritative, and where he's not. Besides all that, this is not a "Global Warming Encyclical". Global Warming is only mentioned 14 times. On that, I can disagree with the Pope's scientists.
I'm in the process of reading it. And it's painfully obvious that what he is calling for is massive and rapid systemic change not achievable by individual buy in alone.
The Pope definitely has a South American flair. I'm amazed, though, at how you've accused me of something you're doing, as well. Not uncommon with you, ebia.

The only solution is to not produce the goods in the first place, or produce a whole let less of them.

It's already happening, research the Earth's water reserves. The water might run out before the oil does.

They calculate we have 50 to 100 years worth of oil left. At present consumption rates, water will never last that long. Turn off the sprinklers, share a shower or use a bowl, drain the pool, let the car get dirty.
They said the same thing about oil in the 70's. By then, we should have alternatives, as well as alternatives to the water issue.
By the way, why would there be a fresh water shortage? Would it be because it's all captured in glaciers, and ice bergs? Kinda defeats the idea of 'global warming'.
By the way, I'm not saying we shouldn't conserve water. I am a conservationist, not a global warming believer.

That's not an either-or with reuse and recycling.

As an individual, already done.

Yes, in the west we need to massively reduce the amount of water we each use. And reduce our use of products that use a lot of water to produce. Much of the world already uses much, much less than we do.
Not just in the west, according to the article.

I think it does. I don't get the sense that this Pope has much sympathy for unbridled capitalism. Nor do I think he has any objections to what the right decries as "the nanny state."
What form of government do you think the Pope 'has sympathy for'? (I agree that unbridled capitalism isn't wrong, unbridled being the operative word. There are no examples of unbridled capitalism in the world, as far as I can tell).
I would like to congratulate the Catholic Community for this Encyclical. It's wonderful! May it have the desired end. There is something to be said for Catholics being consistently pro-life rather than focusing exclusively on the unborn.
We don't focus exclusively on the unborn. We're also worried about the elderly, the marginalized, and other groups, too.

The most significant role may be that taken governments, so our political input may be our most important contribution. 58% of
US emissions are from the production of electricity or from the transportation sector.
And they want to go to electric cars...
France produces 8% of its electricity from fossil fuel. The number is much larger in Canada, 22%. The US and the UK come in at 68% and 71%. Clearly, a greater emphasis on nuclear, solar and wind power would bring US number closer to that of Canada and France. Also, we need to recognize that we will need lots more electricity, since the transportation dusty will use more and more.
But nobody wants a nuke plant or solar or wind farm in their back yard, especially not Kerry or Gore!
With regard to transportation, the US government has done a good job of reducing emissions in vehicles, by the consistent increasing of mpg standards. These need to applied more to trucks and buses. Also, we need to support more fleet use of electric and natural gas vehicles (which as much better than oil vehicles).
Meanwhile reducing the safety of vehicles, because most of the mpg gain has come from lightening vehicles...
Government also had a role in determining standards used in industry and agriculture. These are the next two sectors where there are large uses of CO2.

As individuals, we do have choices, in the products that we buy, in what we eat and in the politicians that we support. For example, eating ONE pound of beef uses 1847 gallons of water. I understand that this isn't directly related to emissions, but it is an eye-popping example. Individuals can calculate their carbon footprint and donate money to organizations that reduce worldwide carbon emissions, such as those that support the rainforests. Obviously, we use less emissions if we eat locally produced organic produce. Also, an obvious behavior for individuals is to recycle and to lower water usage.

Absolute rubbish. The only one that will reduce the problem effectively is every couple having one child. If they did that in the 3rd World, it would reduce their problems rapidly. If we did it in the West it would halve or consumption in a generation. There wouldn't be that many elderly in a generation. Those we have it's easy to import carers from the 3rd World. In the UK they keep saying strain on the NHS is due to the elderly, it's due to population explosion and life styles.
this theory leads to extinction of humanity. Is that what you're advocating for?
He could take a lead by telling Catholics to use contraception.
Never.
Absolutely, like thinking the bible has an answer. It is the problem. "Go forth and multiply."
God said it, I believe it.
The World can't sustain 6 billion people. Much of the world has a problem with too many trying to live on too little and every child that's saved, goes on to produce more. Kindest way is contraception, but their god demands they multiply. So they do and watch their children starve, never ending circle.
Most of the reason the poor have a problem is that those that govern them take their cut of aid from the US and from other entities. Thank God Catholics go physically into those places and ensure that food gets into mouths, instead of into politicians' pockets.
