  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I also just read the following from BioLogos...
The third difficulty is the historicity of Adam and Eve. One way to reconcile what current science says about evolution is to propose that the account of Adam and Eve is symbolic, not literal, but what does this do to the New Testament teaching of Romans 5 and 1 Corinthians 15 that our sinfulness comes from our relationship with Adam? If we don’t believe in an historical fall, how did we become what the Bible says we are—sinful and condemned?

Their answer...Make Adam and Eve symbolic and not literal....despite every mention of Adam and Eve in the bible is presented as literal and historical.
In fact Paul in a letter to Timothy in 1 Tim 2:12-13 where Paul instructs women based upon Adam and Eve. It makes no sense Paul would instruct women based upon a symbol.

Why don't you read Tim Keller's suggestion? He makes it clear that he does think a historical Adam is important.

Tim Keller's suggestion is that Adam was the first human to be endowed with God's image, and that his sin affected his contemporaries as well as his descendants.

So, we have a population of people living on the earth. God decides to pick this guy named Adam and endow him with Gods image? That's not what the bible teaches. That's what you must do to the bible to make evolutionism work.

Still, there is no mention of how Adam sin affected his contemporaries as well as his descendants.

So, now what do we have? Ted Davis disagreeing with Tim Keller---------> who both disagree with the bible.

I don't believe that is an accurate description of what Collins believes. But anyhoo... the fact remains, evolution doesn't have pinnacles, rungs, or creatures more or less evolved than others. There's just wbat works in a given environment and what doesn't.

If you consider humans to be "higher" on the evolutionary "ladder", take a naked human and drop him on the Antarctic coast with a naked penguin.
He does, my cut and paste is not working right now or I would give you the quote. All of Christianity is based on becoming like Jesus. I did not put "Jesus is the pinnacle of evolution" in the title because it would have shut down the discussion.

According to singularityhub Humans are not the Pinnacle of Evolution they are only a rung on the ladder. According to Theistic Evolution JESUS is the Pinnacle of Evolution.

You realize there a plenty of theists who are not Christian and who believe in evolution? I would see all of the Manifestations of God at the pinnacle of revolution. But that is a religious belief not a scientific assertion.

No, and he doesn't believe in intellectual honesty, and so presents a mill-degree doctorate

Here is the diploma mill where he got his doctorate. Looks like a mobile home.

-_- these debates are not formal, no one is going to want to read through 14 pages for these discussions.

That all depends upon how theologically minded he is, doesn't it? Not everything can be summed up in a single paragraph.

Please, credit given where credit is due, that is at least a double wide. It would have taken two semis hauling to get that fine edifice in place.

There are lots of people with two year degrees that do a wonderful job of preaching and teaching the Bible.

All that proves is that they are good showman, not that they actually understand the Bible. You can't master Hebrew and Koine Greek in two years.

I know of people that graduated from our sunday school program that can preach the Bible.

So they are taught how to preach.

But they can not council or advise people. That is when you need a post grad degree.

Only if you are going to be a psychologist.

According to what I am reading he was making between one and two million dollars a year. So when you have that amount of money involved I can see where he could run into a lot of problems. Still if your going to go to court you need a good attorney, someone that gets along with that judge. He had the money to hire an attorney to work out a deal but he did not seem to be smart enough to do that. He does not seem to understand how the good ol boy club works.

Or, he could have just paid his taxes.

OH, how typical.....attack the scientist...forget the science.

NEXT
Are you kidding? Hovind's "science" is so bad that a high school student could refute it. He has no understanding of anything that he debates. He once made the foolish statement that a teaspoon of water could cover the whole Earth.
