Hate to break it to you - a blog is not a news article.
The posts you are responding to are not from people who are anti-Israel, they are anti-"excessively violent and self destructive tactics used by both Hamas and Israel"The people who are anti-Israel and go out of their ways to find fault with Israel protecting itself, it's people, and ending the ability of Hamas to continue with its attacks against Israel. The statement is NOT dishonest. Israel was attacked first. She is only ending the ability of Hamas to continue the attacks against her.
So basically anyone who disagrees with you is one-sided and wrong. Got it. Make sure you continue to call for truth, OK?
'If we don't deal with Gaza tunnels now, these threats will come to us' | JPost | Israel News
Hamas has built "defensive layers around the tunnels. They have attack positions in mosques, in the homes of operatives, and tunnels that allow terrorists to approach our forces," he said. "That requires very accurate and sometimes aggressive counter-measures by us. I know that all of the IDF's units are accomplishing this mission, even though there are casualties. We understand that if we do not deal with these threats, they will come to our home front. If you talk to members of our unit, it is clear to all of us that we don't take care of this, if we don't destroy these threats and thwart them, they will reach us in a much more aggressive way, and they will harm Israeli civilians and soldiers."
"I have not entered one civilian home that did not have weapons, suicide belts, or booby traps in it. You can see the booby traps from the outside," the source said. Any home found to be containing women and children leads to an immediate halt of the raid, he added. "We hold our fire, there's no question. We don't take chances with children and women. We allow them to leave, and then continue the raid. That's who we are, and this is the source of our strength," he added.
They are not equivalent
That sounds like the Israelis are very careful. How many Isaeli women and children have Palestinians killed this year, and how many Palestinian civilian women and children have the Israelis killed this year?
That is not the question.
The question is: how many Israeli women and children does Hamas intend to kill if they are not stopped, and how many Palestinian women and children would Israel kill if they were left in peace?
It sounds like their strategy is working, (from the same article)
“The spirit of Hamas terrorists is weakening,” Southern Region Commander Maj. Gen. Sami Turgeman says. “I see terrorists in distress, abandoned by their commanders who deserted them at the front and stayed behind…and facing them, our reserve and standing army units led by commanders leading the force."
It is the question I posed to you, the question you are electing to dodge because the full truth makes you uncomfortable.
Because I am an honest man and not a partisan coward, I choose to answer these questions directly instead of dodge them:
1) According to some in Hamas, all of them.
2) Considerably less, maybe none.
Neither of these facts absolve Israel's moral duty to comply with Just War Doctrine and prevent casualties to non-combatants.
Darned if that doesn't sound straight out of a book of American sound it's from Vietnam.
I assume you are calling me a "partisan coward", but so be it. From what I have read on Just War Doctrine, and the way Israel is handling the war, they are abiding as well as they are able to it. Nowhere have I come across numbers vs numbers which seems to be your sole focus.
I don't recall, I've read a lot about this tragedy from both sides. What was it about?Did you read the other article I posted?
I'm not sure what that means; do you not believe it?
It is sad when that is what must be done to destroy weapons that terrorists have hid among the civilians.
That is not the question. The question is: how many Israeli women and children does Hamas intend to kill if they are not stopped, and how many Palestinian women and children would Israel kill if they were left in peace?
I do not believe that Israel will, with this occupation, put an end to terror attacks from Hamas, no. The end result, years from now, will be more terrorists who grew up witnessing Israelis kill their friends, neighbors and relatives.
Proportionality (you may not take more lives than your attackers would...as virtually all Israeli strikes are counterattacks after failed Palestinan attacks, they are not living up to this requirement).
Prospect of success (Israel has done the same thing for decades without ever really putting an end to these attacks. Staying the course will do what it has always done. I wonder what spending the money of food and medicine for Palestinians that they've spend killing Palestinians would do?)
Protecting non-combatants (Israel kills more non-combatants than Hamas does, by a large margin)
You're still refusing to answer a question that I posed to you directly. That is a sign to me that you are less interested in a mutually beneficial discussion than you are in selling your political ideal.

I hope you are wrong, and if Israel gets a sound victory and actual support from the rest of the world, I think you will be wrong.
Violence does not drive out violence. Darkness does not drive out darkness. I beseech you in the bowels of Christ to consider that you might be mistaken.
Given the history of the world and the history of wars fought you are wrong.
