I don’t see what the poll has to do with the OP and thread title but I voted Democrat. Though I would disagree that the solution to our political dysfunction is for Trump to face prison time. He certainly should but that’s more for his own sake. I don’t think we have an easy solution to the much bigger problem of our dysfunctional, cynical politics that’s at the heart of the disagreements we have with each other.

UMMMMM, don't crap in my thread and i won't poop in yours.
Dude, a poster I banter with said “go team LDL” and it reminded me of the “go banana” scene in Simpsons so I shared it. Go Republican! Go Democrat! Go LDL! Go Apple! Go banana! I figured he would appreciate the reference.

It is a completely non-offensive gif that in no way “blanks” on your thread.

He can't be president if he's in prison. That's 50 percent of our problems gone at least for me. He's dangerous, and ruthless, vengeful, childish at the very least a mad man.but there can be no dem or what they have done to the. Country over the last 20 years will double.

Sorry, but you're wrong. There is no constitutional prohibition for a convicted felon to run for office, or even serve as President. Not only have a couple of convicted felons run for president before (Eugene V. Debs and Lyndon LaRouche), but there was a former Massachusetts governor (James Michael Curley) who ran for Mayor of Boston, and won, all while under federal indictment. He was, in fact, convicted...and still served as Mayor. (Granted, an acting mayor was appointed during his prison stay, but that was in 1947. That may not be necessary these days, what with remote access and all that. I guess we'll have to see how it goes.)

But, short answer, even if convicted, Trump can still be President. So that won't solve the problem.

He's dangerous, and ruthless, vengeful, childish at the very least a mad man.but there can be no dem or what they have done to the. Country over the last 20 years will double.
What has any Democrat done that would be worse than the crimes Trump has been found guilty of, or any of the other crimes he remains accused of?

-- A2SG, you got fraud, sexual assault and defamation, and over 90 criminal indictments still pending...against, what, exactly?

I have to disagree with you. Argh, it deleted my post. First time ever i posted a full page of rebuttal . I guess it wasn't important. I voted for Trump in 2016 those 4 years gave us input to the true trump. He is not a Christian. What's more important to you? Who Jesus would sanction or what you want for the country. Jesus being honest and true and all the other things he stands for.

Trump deserves to be in jail but A2 is right… A conviction and jail time will not bar him from serving and you best believe he and the Republicans will fight tooth and nail to see him serve even if his address will be the Federal Pen instead of Pennsylvania Avenue. Thats why we should be particularly aware of who his VP is as there’s darn good chance they may be the ones running things. I’m wondering if he will choose Nikki but suspect DeSantis dropped early to make inroads.

I’m also fortifying myself for the contesting of something so that, should he win, he feels justified in serving a third term. I don’t see any scenario where that he would serve a third term, but having a candidate run or people write him in would create chaos for Republicans and likely craft the type of candidates they put forward. IE less moderates, more crazies.

A prominent man in the legal field being interviewed said that he will go to prison depending on what he's found guilty of and won't be able to run the country.
If Trump goes to prison for any of the more than 90 criminal indictments he's facing, that doesn't prevent him from running for President. What happens if he's in prison and elected, we'll have to see. It's uncharted territory.

But, as with what happened with James Michael Curley here in Boston, imprisonment doesn't mean you're unable to hold office. In fact, not that long ago, a Washington DC inmate ran for advisory neighborhood commissioner and won, while still incarcerated. As part of his duties, he oversaw the facility in which he was incarcerated.

I was uncertain, because I said nothing about Trump's status as a christian.

That's the point - it's not over Trump. Trump as a person is not now nor ever has been the point.

The point is whether we are self determing in how we govern the nation, or if the Marxists win and America falls to a tyrannical government.
Trump's the only one arguing for tyranny, what with his claim of absolute immunity for the office of President.

-- A2SG, wonder if Trump realizes that, should he win that argument, President Biden could publicly shoot him, and then resign...and he'd never face criminal charges....

Hemingway: Democrat [2024] Election Rigging Is A Major Crisis For The Country

“There is a general Democrat strategy to bring criminal or civil charges against the president [Trump], try to steal his family business, try to remove his name from the ballot. And this is viewed by a lot of Americans as just completely unfair and anti-democratic."

We already know the GOP doesn't actually exist due to heavy Democrat infiltration. So there is no changing the trajectory of the nation. But there is an issue of speed. Trump going to jail will probably create a crisis for conservative states. But what does that even mean?

We're going where we're going. It's too late.

First, the Democratic party hasn't brought charges against Donald Trump, several prosecutors and grand juries have. And not all of those are democrats. Second, no one's trying to steal his business, though it may or may not cease due to his own fraudulent activities. And third, by and large, it's been republicans trying to remove Trump from certain state ballots. And that case remains up in the air, pending SCOTUS ruling.

We already know the GOP doesn't actually exist due to heavy Democrat infiltration.
I'd love to see how this can actually be demonstrated. I suspect, though, it will continue to remain as yet another wild conspiracy theory with no substance whatsoever...but feel free to prove me wrong.

So there is no changing the trajectory of the nation. But there is an issue of speed. Trump going to jail will probably create a crisis for conservative states.
By itself, Trump being incarcerated won't create a crisis of any kind; but if certain states choose to create one crisis because of it, they'll have to deal with the repercussions of it.

But what does that even mean?
Nothing, I suspect.

We're going where we're going. It's too late.
We always have been.

-- A2SG, though, I think we're all bozos on this bus....

It is absolutely wild to me how strongly people have wrapped up their identities in this guy. As far as the prosecutions go, yes, it is about Trump.

The point is whether we are self determing in how we govern the nation, or if the Marxists win and America falls to a tyrannical government.
lol, your side literally tried to steal an election and somehow it’s the Dems who are trying to eliminate self-determination and install tyranny?

To answer the OP’s question, the only way out of this mess is if Republicans wake up from this mass delusion and decide to leave the cult of Trump.
