The Joshua Tree and War are my fave albums.
Gotta love those! I just adore Streets, and nothing on earth can throw a crowd into a frenzy like its intro. It hasn't been omitted from a single show since 1992.

I'm looking forward to the album and tour :)
Should be absolutely incredible! I'm still predicting a May release, though some are starting to think it'll be September and apparently that's what Bono told one fan. Though I take what he says with a grain of salt considering the fact he did forecast a 2003 release and at the end of the Elevation tour, he said he wanted to keep the momentum going by releasing another album promptly. He may be right this time, but I'm still calling it May.

I hope your right about the may release as its sooner than the september release. ^_^
If U2 is claiming the album is coming out in September, then it'll probably be May of 2005. They're really bad about pushing release dates back.

You don't know how good streets is until you hear the popheart EP, there is no better version.

I agree, I heard ALCLB was going to be realized in March 1999 but was released in October 2000. And pop was running 6 months late or something.

Not true. ATYCLB was NEVER coming out in 1999, it was always 2000. The only problem they ever had with dates was Pop. They set a deadline that proved to be too soon, but they couldn't back out of it, thus Pop was rushed and they feel what they released was incomplete, which explains why some songs were remixed for the Best Of (and supposedly The Playboy Mansion was remixed to be a B-Side for The Hands That Built America before they scrapped it being a single). Had they had another six months on Pop, it would have probably been complete. Personally, I love what they released.

Also, there has been no official statement about when it'll be released. May and September are both just rumours. There's no dates to push back.

Janine, I love long waits, but I couldn't wait until next year....
By the way, I like your little dancing Bono's and the strumming Edge

I was being a bit sarcastic ;) I really hope it comes out this year, with a big tour and oversized TV. Thanks for the compliment on those pics Indigo tree :) their from Beautiful day, It's like Popmart on my sig

Anyone who wants to listen to really good version of "The fly" live from Berlin elevation it’s on my sound file, it's a big file 10meg but it sounds just as good as a soundboard.

Cool sig you got going there, Janine.

I rediscovered ATYCLB a few days ago. My thoughts?

Beautiful Day: We all know this is an awesome song.
SIAMYCGOO: I have contradictory feelings towards this song. I can agree with both the lovers and the haters. It's pop-y (No, not Pop, small 'p' - if it was Pop-y I'd love it) and gets boring, but the lyrics are fantastic and the last minute or so with Edge singing backing is good.
Elevation: Good, but nothing special. Not very deep.
Walk On: This song saved my life. Enough said.
Kite: One of the best songs ever made.
In A Little While: I'm not that keen on this song apart from the "a man takes a rocketship" part.
Wild Honey: Fun song, nothing more.
Peace On Earth and When I Look At The World: No real opinion. I do remember on the night of September 11 when they played Peace On Earth on the radio and it was seriously moving.
New York: can we say 'filler'? Still a good song live.
Grace: Simply beautiful.
The Ground Beneath Her Feet (appeared on Australian, Japanese, and British pressings): AMAZING. I love this song.

The new album will be out this year, that's a certainty. I'm still picking May, though the September rumours have more weight behind them now. May or September in any case.

I just long for the days of my favourite era, an era I wasn't even alive for, pre-JT.

Thanks Axver :)
I agree with most of your thoughts especially walk on.
I totally agree with you about Walk on.

1. Beautiful day: A classic.

2: Stuck: too poppy for me, but listenable when I'm in the mood.

3:Elevation The first few listens are totally mind blowing, but doesn’t last long.

4: Walk on: My favorite U2 song! You're packing a suitcase for a place none of us has been,a place that has to be believed to be seen. Sounds like a contemporary Christian song to me. I cried when I first heard it.

5: Kite: A song that pulls my emotional strings.

6: In A Little While: Excellent song I like the part when he sings turn me on.

7: Wild Honey:

8: Peace On Earth this song is a very strong prayer.

9: It’s like my relationship with Jesus I try to be like you, try to feel it like you do. It sounds like bono wrote about his own faith. I think of you and your holy book while the rest of us choke, I think he means on sin.

10: New York: I love the faint guitar sound in the first part when he starts singing.

11: Grace. Lips, skips and fingertips.

12: The Ground beneath Her Feet. Beautiful song .

I really hope the Album comes out in May as well Axver.

My favorite era is the Lovetown shows .

The 26 October 2000 performance of New York for KROQ radio is simply AWESOME. Edge's guitar sounds like a chainsaw.

Janine, I enjoy Lovetown, but I think it's a disgrace 11 O'clock Tick Tock was only played twice on that tour. Personally, I feel it should have the permanent place that Streets now has, I don't see why it's gotten to be so rejected.

So here is the history of the Best Song Ever, 11 O'clock Tick Tock.

1979/1980 - debuted live as Silver Lining; same tune, different lyrics.
1980 - released as one of the first singles.
1980-1981 - was played twice live simply because the band ran out of material, the crowd loved it, and the band loved playing it.
1981-1983 - a permanent setlist element, usually played as part of the encore. I feel the 11 O'clock Tick Tock/I Will Follow/40 combination on the War tour was the best encore set ever.
1984 - an extended studio version appears as a b-side on one vinyl pressing of Pride.
1984-1985 - opened almost every Unforgettable Fire show.
1986 - no tour.
1987 - appeared just ONCE on the Joshua Tree tour. Why the rejection? I don't understand it.
1988 - not many shows.
1989-1990 - played twice on Lovetown (30 December 1989, Dublin; 10 January 1990, Rotterdam)
1990-1999 - not played, though apparently it was at one point going to be performed by Mister MacPhisto on ZooTV and was rehearsed before a German Popmart show.
2000-2001 - appeared a few (eight?) times on Elevation.
2002-2004 - no real live shows.
2004-? - it better bloody well be played.

Such an awesome song. 5 June 1983 from the UABRS video is a mind-blower, the 4 November 1981 is simply incredible because they play THREE riffs, not two. Yes, THREE. Oh wow, it's incredible, and some of the crowd runs onstage during it; one of them sings with Bono. I have it in mpeg format and it's incredible to watch.

By the way, I'm listening to Gloria right now, and I can tell you the best performances are 14 December 1982, 29 April 1987, and of course the infamous one on the UABRS video and EP. Oh, and 26 December 1989 is pretty cool too, where Bono introduces the band with false names.

Who here wanted to throw up after reading that article on the 'why is there a secular music section on a Christian website' thread?

*violently throws up repeatedly*

So many lies ... so many lies ... it makes me sad and angry.

Oh my, I hate that Corrupt Christian Music website, so much so that I wrote a rebuttal of it that's in my LiveJournal. I could get you the link if you want.

Just remember the last line of Acrobat: "And don't let the b--tards grind you down." They really are b--tards. I wonder how U2 reacts to reading that bumbling, nonsensical drivel ... I'd flip my lid.

I just had a quick look at that site, please tell its meant to ironic or something becasue otherwise the webmaster needs a serious reality check.

'Heres Stacie Orrico looking pretty which is wrong becuase she should look drab and thats what I think so it must right' is the kinda vibe i picked up from it.

I'll prolly look closer at it later, right now I gotta something slightly less boring like wash the dishes or look at the snow.....
