Yeah, he's gone the Rio and looked for a club that'll probably give him more bench time than game time.absolutely_lost_86 said:na its 38, james milner, i dont like alan smith because he said he is loyal to leeds but if he was loyal he wouldnt have gone to leeds most hated rivals
Couldn't agree with you more. I haven't heard the EP though. I don't like the Darlene version of Walk On much though, because the timing around the "singing bird in an open cage" is wrong and sounds awkward. Quick question, in the version they did after September 11 which is in C# and not D, after the "all that" lyrics, do you know exactly what Bono sings? It sounds like "Halle, halle" as in hallelujah with the lujah chopped off the end, but I thought I'd go to you first before I look on Google.Axver said:I haven't heard that Darlene Zschech version, though my friend seems to like it. The newer material definitely turned me into a fanatic, but I was floored by the quality of the earlier stuff when I discovered it. My rating of ATYCLB last doesn't mean I think it's bad, not by any means, it's just that out of all U2 albums, I prefer it the least. Beautiful Day is a brilliant song, Walk On saved my life, Kite is one of U2's most beautiful songs, and The Ground Beneath Her Feet is really great (hooray for bonus tracks!). Most people find it amusing I rate it below the four track WAIA EP, but WAIA has three things going for it;
1. That INCREDIBLE live rendition of Bad (though not nearly the best).
2. That INCREDIBLE live rendition of A Sort Of Homecoming.
3. That INCREDIBLE studio leftover from the Unforgettable Fire sessions, The Three Sunrises. It's a forgotten masterpiece that should've been done live.
Ah, I see. I should download it sometime. It seems often that bands struggle to cover U2. I rarely like U2 covers, my favourite is probably Johnny Cash's cover of One.KristianJ said:I don't like the Darlene version of Walk On much though, because the timing around the "singing bird in an open cage" is wrong and sounds awkward.
How do you tell that stuff with the notes? I'm so not musically inclined, heh. Anyhow, yes, that's what Bono's singing. On most live versions of Walk On, he'd end it with a chorus of "Halle, halle, halle-luuu-jaaah." The version on the Elevation Boston DVD is a good example. As a sidenote, during ZooTV, Running To Stand Still would end with that and then synch into Streets, while at the end of some Popmart concerts, Bono would sing a very sombre version of that after One and then walk offstage. Actually, that might've only happened once. Not totally sure. They used a number of songs to close Popmart shows.Quick question, in the version they did after September 11 which is in C# and not D, after the "all that" lyrics, do you know exactly what Bono sings? I heard a passable "funk" sort of version of ISHFWILF a few weeks ago (forgotten who did it), but it'll never pass any version where a gospel choir is utilised like in Rattle & Hum.Axver said:Ah, I see. I've been around music since I was 7, so I've developed a very accurate sense for pitches and keys of songs. God blessed me with being able to listen to a song, pick up a guitar and work out the chords fairly quickly.Axver said:How do you tell that stuff with the notes? I'm so not musically inclined, heh. A funk cover? That's interesting. I understand Daft Punk once did 'With Or Without Da Funk' - in fact, I have an MP3 of it that I've never played. The RAH ISHFWILF version owns all, it just sounds so stunning, I adore it.KristianJ said:I heard a passable "funk" sort of version of ISHFWILF a few weeks ago (forgotten who did it), but it'll never pass any version where a gospel choir is utilised like in Rattle & Hum.
Ahh, lucky you! How I wish I had that ability. I'm no good with musical things. My grandfather can play anything by ear, but I didn't inherit that skill ...I've been around music since I was 7, so I've developed a very accurate sense for pitches and keys of songs. I can't for the life of me remember who did it. A friend of mine who's a great sax player and an allround music freak has the CD. I'll borrow it, copy it to whatever format you want and send it to you. It's interesting, and has a very cool bass line.Axver said:A funk cover? That's interesting. My great-grandma apparently had a great ear for music as well.Axver said:Ahh, lucky you! How I wish I had that ability. I'm no good with musical things. My grandfather can play anything by ear, but I didn't inherit that skill ...
Ah, I see, sounds interesting. MP3 format would be fine, especially with your having-dialup-ness. I really have no idea how I lived before the days of downloading SHN and DVDs ...KristianJ said:I can't for the life of me remember who did it. I'm glad I'm not like my Dad - he can't carry a tune in a wheelbarrow. I remember when I was little and we'd go driving, he'd play Queen cassettes, and despite the fact I knew almost no lyrics, I was still better than him!My great-grandma apparently had a great ear for music as well.
I'll have it to you soonish. The encyclopedia entry on U2 is copy-protected on Acrobat, so I'll need to somehow figure out what to do.Axver said:Ah, I see, sounds interesting. I'll print it off and send it up with some blanks when I get about to picking some concerts for you to burn for me. I should be able to get some up to you by the end of the week, so I'll email you and remember to put U2 TRADE in the subject line.Axver said:Hm, that's a pain. I hate it when stuff like that happens. Screenshot it, perhaps?
