Yes. That seems a lot more likely than that people belonging to churches in which the Creed is recited might have misgivings for those reasons.I'm speaking more of people who are not familiar with the Creed - when it is first shown to them, they sometimes misunderstand the intent.
That's what I'd think. The "Apostolic" churches don't stand out from the rest of the Pentecostal mix in the minds of most people who are not of that persuasion, even among those who are not foreign born. The folks who have been in my Church all their lives (many come from Greece) ... probably have no idea really what "Apostolic" (Pentecostal) churches are.
Me too. I heard it was a cult, and that is one of the claims that first sent me directly to their website to find out for myself. The vineyard movement! I heard much about it when I first joined cf.
That was the brown's? revival in Toronto wasn't it? That was part of it? It was very contriversial at that time, but so was everything that could possibly spark an opinionMe too. It turned out to be exactly what I had been hoping to find for decades.

Yeah. I'm really sorry I missed out on all those early things. But where I attend, they still refuse to become frozen into a "church" institution. There is so much of what I was beginning to think didn't exist in churches since Jesus was here... Life! That was the brown's? revival in Toronto wasn't it? That was part of it? Well, I can see how "The Toronto Blessing" would have been seen that way... and also the three years our denomination spent flirting with The Kansas City Prophets. But that is what the pendulum mentioned earlier was all about. It had to find its center.People throw that word around pretty casually, but I don't think Vineyard was ever considered to be a cult by those "in the know." Oneness churches, yes, but not Vineyard.
The paraphrased creed was from the vineyard .... it'll be interesting to hear what it means to you. That's what I'm finding so informative about the thread...how it relates to each/others beliefs. Kind of a comparison of language that ultimately means the same thing.Yeah. I'm really sorry I missed out on all those early things. If you are finding this thread "informative", then you just might want to go re-inform yourself on that part. I am pretty sure you must have missed all of it.The paraphrased creed was from the vineyard .... it'll be interesting to hear what it means to you. I'm serious. Most Vineyard people would be in stitches, laughing that someone would think that we did something like reciting a creed of any kind. That just isn't Vineyard.haha ok amusing then![]()
oookay, not knowing much about what Vineyarders do and don't do I have to say I'm at a disadvantage, but I'll take your word for it. But you have to admit that what is on topic is informative and what is not is quite comical. No?I'm serious. Something a southerner wouldn't understandMust be Kanook humor?

I didn't want to derail a thread, not that you seem to mind that at all, but it's not something that I often do.I misread you at first and thought you meant Brownsville revival. That one I'm somewhat familiar with ...
But I hold Vineyard in high regard as the "middle ground" you all are discussing is something that seems to have provided a very good guideline for them. If I had not needed to pursue the liturgical Churches, I am pretty sure it's a Vineyard I would have chosen.
I think he meant canuck"Kanook?" You must be farther south of the Mason-Dixon line than I remembered.![]()
Nope, I meant Kanook. That's what someone told me a Canadian is called, and I have been (very recently) shown that it is acceptably unnecessary to research anything to see if it is the truth, or not. (Or did I misread you?)I didn't want to derail a thread, not that you seem to mind that at all, but it's not something that I often do.
