the Lake is figurative, which makes our God, the Fire God also figurative.

The lake is real...but not physical....not an actual garbage dump.

Not a good way to preserve anything.
A Lake of Ice would preserve things much better.
The same misery...but things would last longer.
Or just a dark cave perhaps.

But a sulphur fire burns hot and consumes everything, like Death and hades.

Our Sun - Solar System is around 5 billion years old and has another 5 billion years to go. The geometry of the universe is, at least on a very large scale, elliptic. In a closed universe, gravity eventually stops the expansion of the universe, after which it starts to contract until all matter in the universe collapses to a point, a final singularity termed the "Big Crunch", the opposite of the Big Bang.

Some recent data show the rate to be increasing. So no crunchies.

The big crunch is like a black hole where gravity is so strong that light does not escape. Yet we are told that God is light and there is no darkness in Him. We are told in Isaiah 34:4 "And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree."

Tyson tells us that the balance between matter and antimatter is a billion to a billion and one. If it were not for that one in a billion then the universe would self annihilate and only photons would be left.

The idea of stagnant water comes from a study of the Hebrew letters that are used to write the Torah. As compared to the living water that flows from the throne of God.

The O is a symbol for stagnant water that does not flow. The letter C is open to the future but closed to Heaven, Earth and the Past. The letter n is open to the things of the earth and this moment in time. But closed to the past, future and heaven. This is refered to as archetypal energy and it's flow. There are other words we can use: paradigm, pattern, type, parables. Even allegory, metaphor, homiletic and so on.

Dear Joshua: I believe the entire ending is the Beginning. Do you know what the koine ta panta means? In short it means our God is the Source/ Guide/ & Goal of the all. Would the "Big Crunch" be in accord with ta panta?

And as with the first-fruits, so with the harvest. The world to be saved must some day know the same baptism. “Orthodox theology holds the second death to be a state of endless torment in which the sufferers are held forever in conscious being by a continuous act of Divine preservation, with the soul object of a punishment without end.
