The Lake Of Fire

1. We will consider all passages of Scripture speaking of the Lake.

2. What is the Lake of Fire?

I believe the term "lake of fire" is symbolic. It is the description of sulfur and fire notably, brimstone.
Fire and brimstone is used quite often together to depict Gods wrath over the damned. What better way to describe His wrath than molten lava that will eventually cool off and entomb the lost.

I believe this to be an indirect reference to the Lake of Fire:

"Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. Back when this was written.. they had sports going on... and they would get rewards. This is about us in heaven getting our rewards. And our works get tired. Some of the flesh and world others for the kingdom. What ever is left you get a reward some will not.. but they them selfs shall be saved. Where as on judgment day those that follow Satan will get his reward and toss in the fire that was made for Satan and his angels not man. There is no "but he himself shall be saved". They will be lost for ever

The two witnesses have the spirit of God, so when the adversary comes up against them, they will skilfully use scripture to destroy his arguments. Christ gives an example of this, in the wildness, while he is being tempted by Satan.

Not a good way to preserve anything.
A Lake of Ice would preserve things much better.
The same misery...but things would last longer.
Or just a dark cave perhaps.

But a sulphur fire burns hot and consumes everything, like Death and hades.

How many days and nights are we talking about?

Day & night have been around for around 5 billion years and they will be around for around another 5 billion years.

Our Sun - Solar System is around 5 billion years old and has another 5 billion years to go. The geometry of the universe is, at least on a very large scale, elliptic. In a closed universe, gravity eventually stops the expansion of the universe, after which it starts to contract until all matter in the universe collapses to a point, a final singularity termed the "Big Crunch", the opposite of the Big Bang.

I actually had a dream about this when I was around 12 years old. In the dream God told me the universe was expanding but would eventually all come back together again. Science calls this the big crunch.

In Genesis 1:2 we are told that before there was light: "the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep". If you want to go deeper into this we can look at Neil DeGrasse Tyson's book on "Astrophysics".
