• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Perhaps you would understand if you troubled yourself to see the earlier posts which called for government accountability.

Go ahead, then, and explain how the founding of the IRS in the mid-nineteenth century--and by which party--explains corruption in government at this time.

A cursory glance at late-nineteenth century government history reveals some truly amazing levels of corruption that stagger the imagination. However, there is no direct link between current corruption and that corruption other than the fact that people are depraved sinners by nature.

That's very true. However, I have to note also that I asked our friend to justify his point that the mere FOUNDING of the IRS over 150 years ago somehow explains the current scandal. You saw that he had no answer, so I hope we put that aside where it belongs and return to discussing the real topic.

Folks...we may as well wait. Nobody really knows...and it's going to be a while before we know the full story.

It continues!
Yeah, that's about it for now. I think that any civil trials will bring out more information than the government investigation.

Actually I think Lerner is a key to the puzzle. She's retired now...and I think eventually she will be before Congress again.
And plead the 5th again.
I think that...but we'll see. I smell something in the way she was retired:
Your article says that it was being recommended that she be removed from employment so her retirement was probably a tactic to protect her money or benefits.

Better to retire than to get fired, they say.

Maybe...or turn whistle blower because she was forced out.

She had already reached retirement. The tactic is *possibly* to keep her from becoming a whistle blower as she *could* be one of a few designated to "take the fall".

I continue to wait...too much is still unkown.

What does retiring have to do with that? If she turns whistle blower, it would be to escape prosecution.
She had already reached retirement.
Do you mean that she has already reached retirement age? I didn't know how old she was but she is 62. I remember my uncle was about to fired from the State position and he drove to the capital and retired so that they couldn't take part of his retirement package. I don't know if that applies in her case.

It may have been the stigma of being fired.

Retiring ensures her retirement, it cannot be revoked...guaranteed income!

Retirement is based on years of service...not age.

Both parties are thoroughly corrupt and evil. As is government generally speaking.
Just as Americans are.
Do you side with the bloods over the crips?
I am an independent moderate. I see good and bad in all of our political factions.

That's what you are doing when you defend or favor democrats over republicans.
I have not defended either side, if you have actually read most posts. What I have done is correct the misconceptions of what occurred in the IRS affair.
You are defending one criminal syndicate over another.
Jesus defended sinners against other sinners, so I am in good company.

Maybe next time you will read the posts before bearing false witness against one of God's children.

Although I'm late to the party, it's important that we get some facts straight:

CLAIM: The IRS specifically "targeted" conservative groups
Not true; applications for tax-exempt status from liberal groups were scrutinized and denied

IRS inspector general: Liberals also on target list - CNN.com

CLAIM: The White House/Obama was responsible for the "political targeting" of groups that opposed him

Not true. No evidence has come to light proving any kind of involvement from the president or the White House.

Camp: No evidence of White House involvement in IRS woes - The Hill's On The Money

Depends on what you believe...or want to believe. I'm neither pro nor con...but this situation smells to high heaven.

All the information is hardly out there yet...so I'm simply waiting, watching, and listening.

We'll see what happens...or doesn't happen.

Well, given a choice between random people on an internet forum (not necessarily you, but others who have made the above claims) and legitimate media sources, the choice is entirely clear to me.
