A majority of Detroit. I don't know if there's any better way to explain it.

Yeah right in your face with the racism. How you have people defending such garbage is amazing. On a Christian forum no less, by people claiming to follow Jesus Christ.

I am flabbergasted.

Well, I guess I shall stay unenlightened forever. Perhaps it is the icy waters of Lake Michigan that leaches the education and morality out of the population of the city? Proximity to the Canadian border? Zombies?

I think it is an example of poverty and ignorance breeding greater poverty and ignorance. The schools fail miserably, families fail miserably, and the same people that have failed in society are given a tremendous say in government. Instead of being helped, their condition is made even worse. Equality tends to breed poverty on a much greater scale.

Could you please note where "Freedom" or "Free" is mentioned in the Constitution. The only mention of "Free" I can find is Article 1 Sec 2 "
How do you miss "freedom" in the language of the Bill of Rights and the first amendment?

Great article. Thank you for the link.
Unfortunately the truth of the import of this piece will be demonstrated in the replies you receive here.

And sadly America has only begun to prove the truth of it by law.

Since I was a young man in high-school(way back 20 something year ago) I was always interested in the war between equality and liberty. Many people think these are the same thing but they are not.

Most societies have tried to reach a balance between liberty and equality, but few do this. One will serve the other, either liberty will trump equality or equality will trump liberty.

In communist and socialist societies equality always trumps liberty. You can only have freedom in as much as it does not produce or cause inequality in these societies.

As America was originally founded, Liberty always trumped equality. Equality is never mentioned in the original constitution. Freedom is mentioned extensively. The more free men are, the more inequality will exist. The more equality is mandated by the state, the less free men will be.

In my opinion, since the civil rights era, America has begun the turn to having equality trump freedom leading us down the path to socialism. People no longer have complete control over their property and businesses. Take for instance the baker who was sued for not baking a wedding cake for a gay couple. In that case and many others in the last 30 years or so, equality always trumps freedom. We have to wake up as nation and ask ourselves, how much of our freedom are we willing to sacrifice on the altar to the idol of Equality?

I read an excellent article entitled "The idol of Equality" - one of the best articles I have ever read on this subject. Read it here

Does it always? Depends on the population. People in other 1st world countries have more equality and less poverty.

Allow me to restate, giving equality into an ignorant and poor populace breeds more ignorance and poverty and the collapse of civilization.

Not true. After the north destroyed Atlanta we gave much forgiveness and money to the state so they could rebuild. Yes they were ignorant, but they turned around pretty well.

I don't think an uneducated, ignorant, and immoral person should have the same say in government as someone who is more educated, moral, and decent. That's why I am against equality. That's why equality killed cities like Detroit.
It wasn't equality that killed Detroit, it was the automotive industry pulling up stakes and moving out.

But it's so much easier to blame it on something vague like "equality."

What poor and ignorant populace was given equality thus breeding more ignorance etc...? I can't think of any myself. Haven't witnessed the fall of civilization lately either.

After Reconstruction, equality was definitely rejected in the South and remained very prosperous.

I think it is very easy to say that a downturn in the economy does not usually result in the complete collapse of civilization like in Detroit.

Hmmm it's such a mystery what group you are calling "poor and ignorant" and lamenting their attainment of equal rights.
