  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The fundamental nature, history, aesthetics and symbolism of the icon have a pivotal place for the understanding of the Orthodox faith, but also of the national cultures of the countries of the "Byzantine Commonwealth".
The TV series "The Icon" was filmed in a high production standard, modeled after similar series on the global level, with a somewhat more artistic, "warmer" approach, suitable to the topic. A series of seven half-hour episodes is a modest contribution to the renewal of Orthodox iconodulism, an encounter with the beauty and the theological depth of the holy images of the Orthodox Church. It was shot in city streets and at TV studios, iconographic ateliers, in churches, monasteries and museums in Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and on Mt. Athos, while the Series makes use of the exclusive footage from the archives of St. Catherine Monastery in Sinai, and from Tretyakovskaya Gallery in Moscow.

Intensive and yet simple all at once. Amazing series since it broke things down in ways that I think all audiences could understand even if they have never had any encounters with Icons. Thanks again for sharing it :)
