Well it's just as much as what Jesus said when we think of the parallels between the Pharisees and the elder brother in the Parable of the Two Lost Sons. They formulated what they needed to be right with God and found it incomprehensible that God would accept back the sinners, they were prideful just as the Elder brother was
QV please:Including holding the parables of the Father as literal history, isn't that wonderful?
In my opinion, the parables that Jesus told are true stories --- things He witnessed in His lifetime.
Jesus' parables were true stories of actual events that He witnessed Himself.
Who said Jesus' parables were not actual incidents He witnessed growing up?
I am not denying Jesus spoke in parables -- I am saying the parables are real, not fictitious.
I think the parables were real events.Presumably you think Jesus didn't have much of an imagination, AV1611VET, or maybe you assume his mind was as literal as yours.
Yes, most of us view religion, especially fundamentalist and literalist religion, as very limiting and, frankly, plain dull in comparison to reality.
Case in point.
Presumably you think Jesus didn't have much of an imagination, AV1611VET, or maybe you assume his mind was as literal as yours.
So in non-fundamentalist, non-literalist religion, the creation of bread ("The kingdom of heaven is like leaven which a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened.") is how yeast evolved into a woman?
I think the parables were real events.
You're struggling with this non-literalist business aren't you, Greg.
-- You want him to talk to someone who wants to be a steam engine?
So the labs are on earth. As I thought. Thanks for that. That is about like sitting in front of a plasma TV and imagining the plasma in the far universe works the same way. Ho hum.
I think the parables were real events.
I guess that's one way to put it.Jesus grew up on the streets of the hood and so had exposure to a lot of life.
What goof would claim to BE the truth of all mankind, then make up little stories about seeds and rocks and such?
Why include God? Don't we have to use more physical elements?
So in non-fundamentalist, non-literalist religion, the creation of bread ("The kingdom of heaven is like leaven which a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened.") is how yeast evolved into a woman?
Right, just as most people have never been to the stars. So we see the starlight star bright shining through our window at night. Here, where the laws we know are all we assume exists anywhere. How provincial. Most people do depend on reality to work the same, no matter what the distance is.
To...where? How far has man gone? Not far. That is your dilemma.Either walking or by spaceship, the destination seems to operate by the same rules of physics in both places.
Why would I not believe that earth laws apply on the surface of the earth and the immediate area around it?? Hey, we do know some things and have been a little ways off the planet. You are not required to believe that.
Bingo, and that just doesn't cut the mustard for proclaiming stuff about the far universe.I only have my own experiences to work from.
All my friends walked on different paths. I think every man on earth does that. We all have our own trip, and God knows each of us in a personal way. Just like He knows the stars. Man doesn't. We win.A friend of mine walked a different path in the 70's than I did, so I know we aren't all on the same page.
