When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given the power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth. Rev. 6:7-8

Anyone have any comments as to when this seal was fulfilled? When during the history of the earth were 1/4 or 25% of earth's population killed?

Ok. No takers?

The answer is the fourth seal has not been opened yet and will occur in the near future.

Let's look at the first three seals and maybe this will be of help.

Before angels or humans were created, the Father wrote a book revealing everything that would happen in the universe. He perfectly sealed up the book with seven seals so that no one could see what was in the book. The Father designed that when the time was right, this book would be opened and the contents revealed. He wants everyone to see that even though He knew that sin was going to happen, He never once prevented any angel or person from exercising their right to make choices.

The opening of the seals is directly connected to events transpiring on earth. The first seal represents the salvation of Jesus. This seal was opened shortly after 1798. For 1,260 years the RCC had claimed to hold the keys of life and death. The Church taught that salvation was only possible through her.

Shortly after the Church fell in 1798, Jesus opened the first seal and sent a revival message throughout the world that salvation was only available through Him--not any Church. Historically, we find the effect of the first seal on earth called the "great awakening" which took place in Europe and America during the first half of the 19th century.

The second seal represents the translation, printing and distribution of the Bible throughout the world. People who heard about the salvation of Jesus wanted Bibles, so that they could study for themselves. The formation of Missionary and Bible Societies rapidly grew--both in Europe and America. Thus, this seal reveals the supremacy of the teachings of Jesus over the vain teachings of men.

The third seal represents the proclamation of the judgment-hour message that began in 1844. This seal fully exposes the ministry of Jesus in heaven's sanctuary. It reveals that He has been found worthy to conduct the judgment of human beings. And, a body of people were raised up to proclaim this truth to the world.

Read Rev 6:1-6. And see if they make more sense to you now that you know that each seal reveals more about Jesus Christ. That's why Revelation 1:1 states:

The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place.

The whole book is about Jesus.
