Sin has no hold over the True Believer, in the sense of CONDEMATION. As for pain of the flesh... Romans 7 and 2 Corinthians 12... each man awaits God's timing.

The condemnation is gone. The Old Man is Dead. But the flesh is Secondary to the work the (Romans 8:9) does with our Soul.

I Love the way you wrote this, as an overcomer. Don't be dismayed if you see me write as I do. I do so for the reason of providing hope to those that are still overcome by the Law of Sin and Death, that are too fearful to Surrender.

Grip no-one can move outside of that. The perfect man must rely on grace moment by moment as it is not his own righteousness he walks in. In fact he must cling to it more so than the unrighteous.

I deny original sin btw. I believe that all men will fall and become sinners and no longer innocent in their early childhood.

Regarding original sin, my personal opinion, is the following. . .

When Adam and Eve sinned, they were suppose to die that very day as God warned and promised them they should. While indeed they lost that Spiritual union with God when they sinned, they did not die physically at that time. Even so, the Paradise was lost at that time to all humanity.

God spared Adam and Eve in His mercy, and so he also spared the whole human race that would come from Adam and Eve. God did this because His plan - through Christ - was to save those He foreknew would walk with Him by faith, to those who love God. God foreknew these faithful ones through time. And to these faithful ones, God also predestined for salvation in His Son - the 2nd Adam.

So original sin means to me that all humans should have never existed because Adam and Eve were suppose to die the very day they sinned, and so the whole human race should have died with Adam and Eve.

God spared Adam and Eve, and so gave the entire human race an opportunity to believe in Him according to His love and grace, even so, Paradise is lost to humanity at this time in this present world system. And to those who do believe, God credits the righteousness of Christ to their accounts and re-establishes Spiritual union with these faithful ones.

• God promises those who believe a fulfilling life in the peace of God now as they listen to and follow Him in that New Life of faith - this is salvation.
• And in the age to come God promises and rewards these same faithful ones an eternal inheritance after their life here is ended - Paradise regained.

This plan of God's is now being worked out in real time, and the sons of God are being revealed throughout time according to His plan and foreknowledge. Even so, as Scripture teaches, only a remnant of humanity will truly believe and be eternally save.

I love it! Now, lesson number one, at least for me and what I experienced.

Not WHEN you stumble, but IF you stumble, (big difference), what do you do? The first response I had was to struggle to 'get it again'. It is very easy to fall back into trying harder to believe again. But what did that profit me for those 38 miserable years of trying to try, and then trying not to try? I will tell you what... a big sack of exegesis. LOL.

Eventually God taught me. IF I slip and sin, it changes nothing. Did I still die when Christ died? Yup. Am I a new creature even if I fall? Yup? So what to do? I confess my sin, I repent and turn from it, but most importantly I immediately, if not sooner, confess again who I am in Christ. I pick up my shield of faith.... again.... and again believe. And miracle of miracles, my shield grows a big larger. Glory!

Do you really want to see our enemy thoroughly frustrated? Watch him come running up to accuse you if you fall, and to tell you it was all nonsense, only to see you in your complete armor, a now real viable threat to him, kept again by the power of God. He is so used to laying into us when we have slipped and with us nodding with him in agreement that to discover we have simply gotten up and begun walking again.... well, it sends him over the edge, LOL.

Why did I slip? Simple. Unbelief. My shield of faith wavered. It is like I am a toddler learning to walk. If we do fall, God, the model good father, picks us up, dusts us off and then claps in joy and tells us "You took three steps today! And tomorrow I bet you will do five!"

The truth of who we are is not based upon how big our faith is. We can fall mightily, and it changes NOTHING. That truth is like an anchor for our soul. We might drift a bit at first, but I can believe again because my faith is not in my faith if that makes sense. I can believe because what Jesus accomplished is TRUTH.

That lesson came after months of stumbling around trying to hold my mouth just right, lol.

I will be honest. After that amazing night, it was two full years of walking in joy every day before I truly slipped. It was so supernatural that the thought was growing in me that it was actually impossible for me to fall.

When that thought comes, get ready for your first spanking. LOL. We always are dependent on Him to keep us. Satan is always seeking a way back in. It was two full months before I got my footing again.

I was a prisoner to sin and bought into the sad defeatist and untrue doctrine of ..." Oh well your just a sinner saved.."

That afforded me No peace of heart or mind because in my continued sin was continued guilt and shame cutting me off from God.
Then he showed me the day i believed on Jesus to save me from my sin ..i was freed from its power.
The enemy via an unrepentant church system was lying to me about only being still a sinner saved.(which held me defeated- scripture NEVER states that ever)
If i was saved.then sin has NO power over me.thats what saved means .
and the lord showed me the only reason I continued to sin is because i loved the sin and the fleeting pleasures of it MORE then i loved God.
Upon this simple revelation the truth shattered the lie and i rose up in repentance and walked free to not do those evil deeds any more. Not because im righteous but because Jesus saves me from doing sin and the death it brings as a result.
He causes me to Do righteouness increasingly which resukts in eternal life.
This applies to all sin we Know unambiguously to be sin .
( now this change is ever ongoing into areas of life where we are by way of incorrect thinkings ignorant of our failings and the more ambiguous sins -as the lord reveals them, we turn from them to cease from doing them
And in All cases- replace evil deeds with righteous deeds. There is no vacume in between. )
The result is upon hearing the Good news of Jesus i finally began to obey its instructions and thereby began to know the results promised.

It is a Sad thing that too many continue to Do evil deeds of sin
Some because thats what they truly desire.
Others because they are Taught (a lie) that they cant stop.
But once the truth is revealed the sorrowful repentant heart grasps it in great relief and joy.And goes on to both continue and increase doing right .

Because a time will come that if, after being saved, we continue to deliberately allow a sin to control us that we will become hardened, and the possibility is that we could fall from grace unable to return.

12 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.

The problem with playing with just a bit of sin is rhat we become like Samson. If we do not watch it, and flee it through faith, more often than not we will find ourselves grinding out religious corn to the delight of our enemy.

The hardness that comes on our heart is generally not immediate and thus hardly detected. It is so slow that it is almost imperceptible.. almost.

We abide by faith. and sin is like puncturing small holes in our bucket. A leak, a leak there, and soon we are back to running laps in the wilderness of unbelief.

We CAN fall in the promised land. Trust me. Think of Ai. After the mighty victory at Jericho, Israel's head was big. Little Ai would not stand a chance, right? Well, little Ai kicked their butts. LOL.

Joshua lost his confidence and was in fear. God would have none of it. Get out of the dust, dry your tears and believe again. I am with you.

Hi Gideon,

Your thoughtful analogies describe well how sin can weaken and even destroy our faith over time without even knowing how this could have happened. As Christ taught, we cannot have two masters - only one. Each day we live, we make a choice of faith whom we follow, whether faith in the sin that is tempting us, or faith in Christ in whom we have life and many sure promises.

It all amounts to the kind of faith we have in Christ. If our faith does not include repentance and the crucifying of ourselves to the flesh daily, then we will easily slide back into being controlled by a sin or sins, or backslide into a life of sin.

23 He said to all, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake, the same will save it. 25 For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits his own self?

I understand from your artful use of analogies that you speak from experience, of which all believers would confess they have similar experiences on the Journey in Faith, and that includes myself. So, yes, let us put on the whole armor of God, taking up our crosses, and going forward into spiritual battle. Our trials on this earth will test the genuineness of our faith and refine it.

Lots of excellent posts.

Recently i have been offering up my thoughts, sinful thoughts etc, to God, and asking Him to replace them with His grace. I have been thanking God for His grace. I do believe that God is helping me in my struggles.

We have to turn to God when we sin, ask for repentence and His grace and then, TRULY BELIEVE we have received them.

I am not as knowledgeable as most on here. I am no theologian.

Some know my struggles. I truly believe i have turned the corner through God's grace!
