Are you suggesting that you want to do a study on the Infidel Bible? In order to understand the Bible you have to have the Mind of Christ and think the Divine Thoughts of God. That is why you must be born again and a new creation in Christ.

It is commonly believed that when the civilizations of Egyptians, Greeks, Romans and Hebrews faded that the world passed through the dark ages. In this case England was a city founded by the Brittians under the control of the Romans. When the Romans lost their control the Anglo-Saxons barbarians moved in. It was not until the enlightenment that Sanitary Engineering was restored.
I did construction work for around 20 years and then I want into the knife business. For me a knife is a tool. In the hand of a doctor a knife can remove corruption and bring about life and health and healing. For some a knife is a deadly weapon used for death and destruction.
In Bible College we are taught that we can not teach the truth. People have to discover the truth for themselves. WE can only help them along the way on their road to discovery. If people do not want to know the truth then that is their choice. God gives them the freedom to choose. He gives us free will. People can only truly love God if they are free to make a choice NOT to love God and not follow after the truth, life, liberty and freedom.
You say that as if the Greeks and other societies you mentioned didn't have periodic outbreaks of disease... even though such occurrences are documented. Heck, the 1918-1920 flu epidemic was one of the worst modern outbreaks, with the unfortunate case being that this particular flu strain tended to kill off the young and relatively healthy (whereas with most diseases, the elderly and children tend to be most at risk). Periodic outbreaks are actually quite a typical experience, historically speaking. The Black Death was basically a plague that came at the worst possible time, following a long period of famine, which weakened the immune systems of vast numbers of people. It spread so quickly thanks to fleas carried by rats on merchant ships that went to highly populated areas, and was made even worse by also being an airborne disease. Additionally, there was the practice at the time in which diseased bodies would be hurled into castles that invading armies were laying siege to.
People had some ideas about how diseases spread even in the 1300s, which is why some cities enacted quarantines to reduce the spread of the Black Death, and why people often refused to go near the dead bodies to dispose of them.
Yeah, but the Black Death wasn't a water borne illness. The most sanitation would have done is limit the spread of the disease via the fleas on rats by limiting the food waste that would attract the rats. Also, those same sanitary engineers could do nothing to stop the Spanish Flu of 1918-1920
The Bible is a covenant between man and God. There is an old and a new covenant. All of the promises of God are conditional on our doing our part. If we do what we are responsible to do then we can be sure that God will do His part of the covenant. A good example of this is the marriage covenant between a man and his wife. If a man and his wife end up in a divorce that does not mean there is no truth or it simply means they never discovered the truth of what makes a marriage relationship work? God is not a genie in a bottle and he does not do it all for us. Our Heavenly Father expects us to grow up and be responsible. If we our part then we can have full assurance that God well do His part of the Covenant. For example, we know that physical therapy can bring about health and healing. But if we do not do our part then we can not expect to get results without paying the price. We know that a good education can get us a good job. But if we do not do our part to get an education, then we can not expect to get a good job. The way to death and destruction is a easy road to take. Many find that road. The way to life, health, healing, blessing and prosperity is a difficult way to travel. Few people are willing to do what is difficult.
In the Bible, the word leprosy is mentioned upwards of 40 times. What verse do you want to talk about? You can actually do a google search. There are lots of web pages on the internet that will help you with the subject of leprosy and the Bible. Of course if you're going to use the Skeptics Bible for your reference then you have made the choice to be a skeptic rather than a Child of God. A Child of God has the mind of Christ and they think the Divine thoughts of God. Skeptics, scoffers and infidels do not understand the Bible because they have not been born again and they are carnal - not spiritual in their thinking.
