Surely you realize that when you talk like this to people who disagree with you, all you are really saying is: "MY position is the truth, no doubt, and if you try to argue against it, then you go against God." It's so obvious a tactic to just shut down the other side in a theological debate using God as a threat, it's not even funny.

If Hell were temporary, why then would the rich man speak of an unending torment IF he were "just dead and obliterated"?

That's a parable-----

1Jn_4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect
in love.

Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

God wants obedience out of love, not out of fear. The fearful end up in hell, the 2nd death.

I believe in the punishment, but not the eternal punishment.

Why? Punishment means to punish a child and correct his/her behaviour. Where is the punishment in Hell eternal?

Not at all.

Read the site rules (I did, and checked them several times)
and the SOF (Statement of Faith).

And so forth - what you are doing is going against the statements of faith of the churches on this site, not my opinion.
Same with that other one - I don't know if you said you have your own theology or not, but I did ask if you do. HE stated several times that he does have his own theology, and several of us have asked him about it.

YOu can believe whatever you want and post here, as long as you don't break the site rules,
but that doesn't mean you have the same beliefs or the same faith as the churches defined on this site. (as I guess you don't, though I don't have any idea and don't know if you even posted for or against
or if you posted anything in line with Scripture or against Scripture,
at this point)

Is the parable of the sower about agriculture? Is there really any camel that will try to go through the eye of a needle?

I'm trying to understand why you think Hell is a punishment, is all.
I wouldn't think I would have to explain it?

You'd have to be an utter [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] to not think of it as a punishment, I mean, burning up doesn't sound all that fun to me.

Well, here I am asking.

So, I ask again. What is your definition of punishment? Why do you think that Hell is a place of punishment? Doesn't God hand those over to their sinful nature? Romans 1:18-25 How is Hell any different? That is not a punishment as punishment means to correct a behaviour. This is why I cannot believe that Hell is punishment, it doesn't fit with what God says - as His Word.

Honestly, what's your point?
If you think it's obvious, I'm sorry but it's not.

It could be that we actually do in fact agree with one another, just our definitions are different. I honestly cannot help you see what I'm saying, ask God what I mean that I have already explained. You can't go wrong with Him. I pray your journey will be fruitful!

I've made this observation many times in my discussions with annihilationists.

It is also interesting to ponder the problem of an imperfect being trying to perfectly atone for their sins which is what every unrepentant sinner in hell who has rejected Christ's perfect atonement is left to do. It seems to me that it would be a necessarily unending effort. Imperfection cannot produce perfection any more than nothing can produce something. No amount of punishment exacted upon an imperfect object can produce a perfect atonement. The eternality of hell, then, may have more to do with the nature of the punished than it does with the character of their sin. It was because of our sin Jesus died, yes, but this was because we imperfect creatures could not ever pay the penalty of our sin ourselves.

Selah.
