Seems like a good plan, under the circumstances. That's kind of funny. Democrats are coalescing around Harris because they are running out of time. They don't have time for dissent in the party. I'm sure the powers-that-be have made that clear. It's not time to consider options. It's time to rally around the chosen one. Time to comply.
Seems like a good plan, under the circumstances.
I base it on reading. Question: yes or no - will there be an open convention. On what do you base this claim? Biden's delegates aren't required to vote for her.
Right. They would be shooting themselves in the foot, else. Harris is an acceptable candidate and the last thing the Democrats need is a contentious convention, especially when it is well within the realm of possibility that Harris will actually be President by November.Right. So the argument that the delegates aren't "required" to vote for Harris is disingenuous. They may not be "required" to vote for Harris, but they are REQUIRED to vote for Harris, ifyaknowhatimean.
Sour grapes. If you say so. Meanwhile, Biden's poor mental acuity was on full display on the national debate stage and the Democrats couldn't dump him fast enough. I can promise you that decline didn't happen overnight.

Just as before, the delegates will vote in a roll call vote. Anyone can be nominated and seconded before the vote. The only ones who could do are delegates. That vote will take place in the first week of August.I base it on reading. Question: yes or no - will there be an open convention.

I agree that Biden should have gotten out, not in January of 2024, but in July of 2023. Yes, Biden and his staff lied about his physical condition, one of the biggest coerups in political history (but NOT in any way illegal).
All those who care enough to prefer Trump's lies will vote for Trump. Others may stay home. The other 85% of Democrats and probably a solid majority of independents will simply celebrate the fact that one the parties listened and dumped their 80 year old candidate.
I understand that Republicans want to force delegates to vote for Biden and keep him on the ticket.
I am not surprised that a never-Trumper interpreted what he saw there to be fear from Republicans....because they are afraid Trump cannot beat Harris.
That was apparent Sunday night....going into Monday.
Trump whining about all the lost campaign money he used on Biden.
Stephen Miller hysterically screeching on Fox News..
I think Woodrow Wilson was a worse case, and Roosevelt ran for a fourth term knowing that he would not live through it.Sour grapes.

Age is still an issue. Trump is the oldest candidate in the history of the US, and many, many voters (especially those under 35) prefer not to have someone in their 80's leading the country.

I am completely open to any link you might have to show otherwise. It seemd that you're assuming that an open convention is the only way for these delegates to exercise free will. Perhaps they all wish to nominate Harris in the absence of both Biden and viable challengers.
Trump is NOT really complaining. I can tell by his facial expressions and his tone of voice.Trump is afraid. Why else would he be complaining about not having Biden as an opponent?
Correct -right after the candidate won primaries - that would be democracy in action. For the last 50 years, the candidate has had control of a majority of delegates before the convention.
None that I know of - most Republicans that I've read after do not want delegate to keep Biden on the ticket - they want Democracy to be followed and have an open convention without any pledged to a person because she was the next in line.==========
I understand that Republicans want to force delegates to vote for Biden and keep him on the ticket. That's just not the way party rules work. A candidate has the right to drop out and release his or her delegates.

Afraid of this?Trump is afraid. Why else would he be complaining about not having Biden as an opponent?
Since you are in a position to dictate to Democrats how they carry out the process, who do you suggest be introduced to the convention as alternatives to Harris?Correct -right after the candidate won primaries - that would be democracy in action.

That is an opinion analysis from thehill.com...on Truth Social
Trump posted 10 times on Truth Social between when Biden dropped out and Monday morning, complaining it was unfair to the Republican Party to have to face a new opponent and suggesting Biden should not be able to remain on as president if he can’t run for reelection.
“The Democrats pick a candidate, Crooked Joe Biden, he loses the Debate badly, then panics, and makes mistake after mistake, is told he can’t win, and decide they will pick another candidate, probably Harris,” Trump posted Monday. “They stole the race from Biden after he won it in the primaries — A First! These people are the real THREAT TO DEMOCRACY!”
**They - meaning all of us who called for Biden to leave the race : )
