  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm not sure if it's they have no concept or it's just not that important to them (note the grimace).
The only grimace I’m seeing in the “photo op” is on the baby’s face.

I was thinking of their facial expression and how their smiles looked forced. I could be mistaken, but I got the impression from the look on their faces that they would rather be anywhere but there.

Inciter of violence and victim of violence. The Trumps with massacre survivor in El Paso. Great photo op - note the grimace and thumbs up.
I’ve never really understood the meaning of the word disgraceful until we got this president. There is just no bottom that is too low for him.

It's lonely being an evangelical and a left leaning Democrat. Republicans are bad for the economy uaually unless all they do is an unfunded tax cut. Anyone else notice virtually all the Democrat Presidential canidates lead Trump in the polls? Get a Democrat in the White House the trade war is over, the Paris accords are back on, the Iran treaty is reinstated the same way they were derailed, executive order.

I'm guessing the SDNY has plenty on the Trumps. Anything can happen but Trump's a one timer. Unless the party implodes, wich I dunno...stranger things have happened.

I now have no doubt that we can increase the majority in the House, and perhaps even win a senate seat or two. It WOULD help if Beto and Bullock would run for the Senate, but they needn't make their decision before the end of the year.
======
The presidency is a different issue. 2016 proved that Trump could win the electoral vote, even if the majority of voters didn't trust or like him. Many independents (and almost all Republicans) want conservative justices, less regulation, and lower taxes on business. Kasich just said as much in an interview.

If Biden is the candidate (or Bullock or perhaps even Buttigieg), then perhaps we can win the electoral vote.

When you say "implodes", that is in the eye of the beholder. I will only say that IMHO running Warren, Sanders or Harris will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Against one of the progressives, the mainstream Republicans could even consider dumping Trump, since they would likely win with any like candidate. I'm from SC. Consider Hailey-Scott for example, or Hailey-Rubio, or other combinations with those three. Even Cruz would likely defeat Warren or Sanders.

I think that there are many, many others. The issue is the right has stolen the label "evangelical" for themselves. Certainly, Lutherans, Catholics and Anglicans consider themselves evangelical; obviously, so do many Baptist and Methodists.

It's just that the right is LOUD. Also, the right is politically active, and associates their political positions with God. Left leaning evangelicals tend to not mention religion much, because they believe in the American tradition of separation of church and state, even though most are devoutly religious.
=====
As an aside, Buttigieg may be helping the situation by openly including his faith in lots of his positions and appearances.

It does feel lonely but there are others.

What I have long wondered about are black evangelicals. With them the surge can be decisive, if they will vote. I had my moments with Bill Clinton, always supported him but his extramarital affairs. I can't believe evangelicals don't have qualms about Trump. Evangelicals have changed over generations, the boiler plate religion stays the same, politics. They stil moralize but over weird things.

In Indiana, not so much. My convictions tell me governance is flawed and both parties are suspect.

There are pockets of democrats in Indianapolis. I knew a young man who played collegiate baseball, threw out his arm but returned to school so he could teaxh and coach. Hi and his buddy would liaten to anything I'd say from creatiobism to endtime scenerios. When it came to politics their families were farmers with extensive influence politically, especially in education.

My family were railroaders but that went the way of the dinosaurs

I heard something good this am on Morning Joe. One of the guests was talking about a family reunion that he went to, and he asked a lot of relatives what they were thinking about the candidates.
It boiled down to, "Vote Blue No Matter Who." I like that.

Used to be called a "yellow dog" Democrat, as in "I'd vote for a yellow dog before I'd vote for a Republican."

I don't. I kind of get it, given how unified and destructive the Republican party has become. But it's a terrible way to approach things. That sort of attitude is part of how the Republican party got so terrible.
