  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Since this is the Democratic Safe House, I wanted to talk to my fellow liberals about the Democratic candidates and which one would be the best for the next nominee or perhaps it's too early to say.

On one hand, it's still really early in the race. On the other hand, unless something really unusual happens, it will be one of the top four candidates. All four of the top four candidates have issues imo. Those four are Biden, Warren, Sanders and Harris. Of these four the only one I would be ok with winning (I mean anybody but Trump is good, but some of these candidates aren't attractive on their own appeal) is Warren, and even then I don't think she's the best choice. The candidate I want to win is Castro, but I don't think he has a real chance.

Harris/Warren.
Yeah, an all female ticket.
I don't see any of the front runners asking another front runner to be their VP. It's waaaaaaaaaay too early to talk about the VP I think.

At this point I'm leaning towards Harris. Why do you like Warren better than Harris?

Some of the things Senator Harris did while a prosecutor and AG of California. Her war on truancy for instance, locking up parents for their kids not going to school, and some of the positions her office took in cases the state was involved in while in she was in office.

Yup, she’s not really a progressive no matter how much she recently claims to be.

Democratic candidates tonight in debate are...surprisingly good on both economic and military/foriegn policy, and not bad on a few more things, like accelerating carbon neutral economics.

Overall, impressive.

IMO, the biggest winner, by far, was Trump. Trump would and should be very confident of winning against anyone who debated last night.

That's what Marianne Williamson said there at the location afterwards, in an interview with the CNN guy. As I try to recall and paraphrase, at one point, that there is something "dark" at work in the administration that requires a kind of (I'm trying to recall, paraphrase)...an equally powerful force, like love(? is that the word she used?) to counter it, to be strong enough. Just policy proscriptions would not work against that dark force.

I don't personally favor Williamson over other candidates, though of course she can say true things.

ah, it's on the internet, so I can see how far off I am in details. :)

Sanders, Warren, Harris or Biden would all destroy him in a debate.

Yup. and so did Hillary

That seems less and less likely, unless there is massive vote suppression somehow. It's the old, old:

"You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time." -- Abraham Lincoln

I doubt this has been undone.

Of course, the whole tactic is to take us back to 1860 in a sense, sure.

But...I think there are too many Republicans that would not go along with that.

Does anyone here think that Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders are too old to be the President?
Joe Biden has a whew slew of issues why he shouldn't be President. As for Bernie, yeah I think he's too old.

Probably yes, but as Bernie is the only candidate I’ve seen in my life who actually inspired me to start believing positive change might really be possible in the US, I’m happy to give him a pass on it.

Its like they have no concept of the gravity of the situation.
