  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've never understood why typos are so important to posters.
Because they can be confusing - my sister often switches subjects in conversation with the only clue being a change in pronouns. No need to be thin-skinned about it.

From the Borowitz Report: Mueller Says He Has Obtained Trump’s SAT Scores
Borowitz said:
Although he refused to divulge Trump’s exact SAT scores, Mueller hinted that they did reflect well on Trump in one respect. “From these SATs, it’s evident that he did not cheat off anyone else’s paper,” he said.

I'm looking forward to Bernie taking the reins in the Democratic party. It's quite obvious he's our most popular candidate. I'm looking forward to his presidency and returning the government to the people out of the hands of big money interests. Exciting to see his record breaking fundraising to kick off his campaign!!!

Bernie may or may not get the nomination. In any case, he will not "take the rights of the Democratic party". That role is for members of the party. Sanders is an Independent. He would lose by a rather large margin, I would think.

Oh, he will take the reins of the Democratic Party. It doesn't matter if he's an Independent, he can simply declare he's a Democrat, sign a piece of paper or whatever, and boom he's a Democrat. Just the way I became a Democrat! It's meaningless. He'll "become a Democrat" and then take over. It's very exciting!!! He's the best thing to happen to the Democratic Party since Carter! Time to clean out the party and get rid of all the bought-and-paid-for establishment dems. AOC should be replacing Pelosi within a couple years - all good stuff!!! Gotta love how AOC is taking over in the House! (And AOC is a Bernie product!)

the best thing for the Democratic Party since Carter?

And 4 years of Carter brought us 12 years of reagan and Bush

What you are suggesting is that Sanders (who isn't a Democrat and doesn't stand for Democratic values) take over the party. This is exactly what Trump did to the Republican Party.

Perhaps you are right. Perhaps the parties and their long histories of standing for their ideas are gone. perhaps each party will follow the personality of the day (Sanders and Trump)

The parties are not standing for ideas, they stand for their corporate donors' interests. That's the problem. That's why Trump took over the Republican party and why Bernie is taking over the Democratic party. Bernie would have done so in 2016 if Hillary and the entire DNC hadn't cheated to prevent him. They prefer Trump to him. But I digress... The reason Bernie is going to take over the Democratic party is because he is not beholden to big-money, corporate interests. He is not bought by them. Look what he did - in one day he crushed the fundraising record. By the end of the week he raised 10 million. With NO CORPORATE DONORS. What did Kamala or Booker do even WITH their corporate special interest donations? Nothing near what Bernie did.

The Democratic Establishment are like the pigs in Animal Farm. They've become the very thing they claim to hate. They sell out liberals and progressives by paying lip service to what we want while helping the Republicans get their way. They put our interests aside to help big pharma, big healthcare, big oil, military-industrial-complex, private prison industry, etc. etc. ad nauseam.

They have no platform - they replaced it with platitudes. It's all part of their deception. Bernie, on the other hand, has a platform. Bernie speaks frankly and openly. Bernie expresses actual support for specific things we want.

So, yes, it's time. Time for the Democratic Party to stop being GOP Lite and return to its progressive roots. Bernie is doing that. AOC is doing that. Much, much more to come!

I'm ecstatic to see these changes happening and to see my party go back to resembling what they once were!

The roots of the Democratic Party are NOT democratic socialism. Make no mistake, Sanders and AOC are taking the party where it has never been before. AOC is a member of DSA. Sanders is their hero.

Doesn't stand for Democratic values? He's voted on party lines more often than many of the Senators who actually have that D after their name. He's also since 2016 caused the entire party platform to shift heavily towards the policies he's been championing for decades. He also very clearly stands for values that the working class Democratic voters hold dear, which is why he's the frontrunner in this race.

Well let's not get into "the roots of the Democratic Party" - we don't want to go back to the KKK days. I'm talking more of the Kennedy, MLK, and Jimmy Carter type of Democrat, with true Christian values.

I'm seriously starting to wonder how any of the none famous Democrats running for president are going to get literally any air this time. It's shaping up for 20+ candidates that will dwarf 2016's crowded Republican field.

The only place I saw a lot of those Republican candidates was on a list of candidates. I don't think I ever saw them on tv or a debate stage. The only decent way I can think of is a lottery system with 2 debates.
Like "everyone gets into debate #1 or debate #2" and we make sure that some of the more famous people like Sanders and Harris are not in the same debate. The "separate but equal" debate they did for the Republicans last time was a joke. Absolutely nobody watched those. I don't think even one of those people ever cracked 3% in a poll or rose up to the main debates. I don't want to see a "5%+ debate and a junior debates for the nobodies" system.

Okay....am I the only one seeing cover up here?

If Kenneth Starr had done an investigation of Bill Clinton and then handed it to Janet Reno, Clinton's AG, who then interpreted it and published that....the Republicans in the House at that time would have gone insane with anger.

Did Bill Clinton get to go over the report and remove anything embarrassing, which apparently Barr wants to allow for Trump?

Did Reno publish a job app opinion piece that the president cannot obstruct justice to get her job? And then make that decision when it was meant to go to the congress?

The whole point of a special investigation is that the one investigated cannot mess with the investigation so that it goes his way. It is supposed to be objective and fairly done.

I think the Dems are going to end up taking the AG to court for bias. They will start by subpoenaing the actual Mueller report which has only been seen by a few so far.

I think the Democrats can bide their time a bit while the Republicans declare premature victory. Impeachment was never very likely with a GOP senate; at any rate, it's more interesting to see the rest of the investigations through - the Moscow tower, money laundering (the Scottish golf club), the inaugural funding, the emoluments clause, etc. etc. etc.

When the redacted Mueller report does come out, it will probably be pretty tasty.
