Yes, we know this.

What I was speculating about was a bakery that did NOT personalize its cakes, meaning that no one gets political slogans on top or figurines, etc, but just cakes of different flavors and styles. He wanted to have specialty products when he opened his bakery (as I get the story) and this is what seems to have gotten him into trouble.

What got him in trouble is the idea by the gay couple and the discrimination commission that they do not accept freedom of religion in the 1st Amendment of the Constitution.

Heaven forbid he wanted to make custom wedding cakes for heterosexual couples, eh ?

pretending it wasn't discrimination is just dishonest

Making assumptions about others because they don't agree with their views within the context of faith is also malice on their part. Pretending its not is naïve.

The baker doesn't make Halloween cakes either. It's based on his faith as well. He won't make divorce cakes to celebrate either...again based on his faith. There are plenty of things he claims to NOT create due to his faith.

Pretending to not know the difference between standing on his faith this circumstance, and claiming its hate is also dishonest. Yet, its on full display.

I may not agree with this baker's POV on faith in this aspect, but I never got the sense he did this out of malice, hate or all the other ugly assumptions people claim are fact.

What if a black person came into that bakery wanting a Juneteenth cake? The baker refuses on the grounds that his religion is against racial preference. Could that baker be sued?

Why would they claim that?

Juneteenth doesn't represent racial preference, so neither would the cake. It'd be a moot point.

The end state of liberalism is to move from the idea of tolerance to a forced compliance and social engineering project. Jack Phillips represents everything the LGBT crowd and their supporters despise and thus he must be broken, to be made an example of. Christians of his view should not hold prominent places within their respective communities because that is an exercise of denying homosexuals and trans their rightful place in society.

I think he should win and that he might win this time, but in the long term Christians need to prepare themselves for an eventual loss. The Supreme court cannot be relied on to defend the Christian conscience.

FYI, there is a difference between a person who is a liberal and one who is a leftist.

A liberal is for freedom and would've let Phillips make his own choice.

A leftist is one who want's to force their ideology onto society and will make
laws to be sure that happens.

Dennis Prager did a good job explaining the difference.

Left or Liberal?

If you can force a baker to forgo his constitutionally protect religious rights, then what will stop someone from forcing a Christian or Muslim religious institution to marry a gay couple?

Yes. He is being persecuted. Over and over again. And if this one doesn't cancel him the next time or two or three might just do that. But the effect of canceling him has a much broader effect on the rest of us. Others will curtail what they do because of what is happening to Phillips. And that is the intent.
Facing legal consequences for breaking the law is now persecution???

Phillips agreed to sell the gay couple a standard cake, which he has.

He refused to make them a custom cake.
So he basically told them that they could sit at the back of the bus. How generous of him.

One is a business that is open to the public and engaging in the making and selling of a specific product or service
The other is a private individual that is not in business nor available to the general public.

Facing another assault for something ever so similar to what the Supreme Court found was animus against him is persecution.

If a business doesn't sell a specific product they can't be discriminating against anyone when they say I don't make/sell that product.

like how a kosher deli doesn't sell bacon so declining to make someone a bacon cheese burger is not discrimination.
Masterpiece bakery did make/sell custom wedding cakes so Phillips refusal is discrimination

you might want to check on just what the Supreme Court ruling actually said.

Just so we're clear. You believe he is obliged to make any cake that is being asked of him? Any at all?
