Phillips is now back where he started, guilty of a thought crime.

I’ve been writing about Colorado cakemaker Jack Phillips’s fight against cultural authoritarians for a long time. This past March, I noted that Phillips would probably be badgered into the grave. And this week, Denver district judge A. Bruce Jones again found that the state could compel speech, claiming that Phillips had acted unlawfully when refusing to create a cake that celebrated the alleged gender transition of a Colorado activist.

There is an obvious and peculiar animus against this family AND what this family represents. This is also a prime example of how the LGBTQWERTY folks are HEGEMON and will not rest until they have destroyed those who dare not to become members of their group, or who dare to think other thoughts or live separate lives. This new attack was carefully crafted to get the family. It shows animus, real hatred of the Christian faith. It's not just Phillips. It's all of us who they wish to destroy.

I wonder if Phillips could avoid this problem by selling cakes that come in a half-dozen styles and that's all.

Most businesses that sell anything to the public do not specialize in customizing every item to reflect the political or religious beliefs of the buyer. We do not expect, for instance, to buy a toothbrush or a hot dog that is emblazoned with a slogan made expressly for that purchaser.

All that means is that there will be some things Christians will find themselves excluded from by the state power of the HEGEMON. Soon enough that will mean you can't be a doctor or a lawyer or a member of local government, state government, the federal government, the military, own a business, or whatever. That's what canceling is all about.

Interestingly enough this was pretty much the experience of gays and lesbians in the 1950's and 60's

why not? until very recently being openly gay meant you could not be a doctor or a lawyer or be in the military or work for the government.

We're talking here about "cancel culture" and using the courts to persecute someone who has not really denied any potential buyer what he was seeking. It's not about the baker refusing to make a cake for the customer, shunning him or insulting him, etc.

The statement adds nothing to the conversation and avoids the main issue, which is the denial of the baker's rights.
It pointedly addresses the main issue that choosing to discriminate has consequences.

Perhaps, but I was mainly thinking of Phillips and how he is being persecuted.
Yes. He is being persecuted. Over and over again. And if this one doesn't cancel him the next time or two or three might just do that. But the effect of canceling him has a much broader effect on the rest of us. Others will curtail what they do because of what is happening to Phillips. And that is the intent.

That's because Justice Roberts left the door open for another lawsuit.

Instead of protecting Phillips right to religious freedom, Robert's wrote that that it was the commission who was not neutral toward Phillips religious beliefs which were flawed.

One of the justices wrote on the decision, that because making a custom cake as Phillips does, is an art and the artist participates in the event by making such a cake. This can not be forced as was being asked of Phillips.

Phillips agreed to sell the gay couple a standard cake, which he has.

He refused to make them a custom cake.

This is similar to the gay couple who's offer to buy a building which they could use as a banquet hall that was owned by the Catholic Dioceses was turned down. They sued the dioceses claiming they were being discriminated against because they were gay.

Turned out, the Dioceses had no idea who was making the offer, as it was going through a real-estate agent, and only that the buyers didn't meet the price nor did they even have enough credit to do so.

They dropped the case before getting into court, but it was discovered that they were actually being political in looking for those they deemed as being anti-LGBTQ.

Yes, we know this.

What I was speculating about was a bakery that did NOT personalize its cakes, meaning that no one gets political slogans on top or figurines, etc, but just cakes of different flavors and styles. He wanted to have specialty products when he opened his bakery (as I get the story) and this is what seems to have gotten him into trouble.
