  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Joshua 23 verse 1

And it came to pass a long time after that the Lord had given rest unto Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua waxed old and stricken in age.

Joshua gave a farewell warning to the children of Israel not to worship other gods.

Joshua 23:16

I echo everyone's words: Please get better soon bcmom. May our Lord flood you with His love and light, strengthening you, so you are able to continue sharing His words. In our weakness He is strong within us. He is our strength and we can do all things through Him.

I suffered a slipped disc, and I still suffer the pain, but I am learning to trust Him, and of course resting is important. The bible speaks about resting in Him, and I pray today, you will feel thoroughly rested in our Lord's loving arms. Amen.

Re: Chapter 24:

i realized as i was reading it that there was a REASON (probably that Abraham only realizes now) why he was childless for soooooo long (He and Sarah) and that was because God wanted to make sure that he knew that it was GOD Who gave them Isaac (he was a ":miracle" baby and only by God's own hand could Sarah have conceived and Abraham brought forth a son) and there was no doubt WHO made Isaac possible.

Verse 3: And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the flood, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac.

Yes Brinny your are correct. Let us not forget that Abraham is the father of the Jewish nation.

bcmom try to look after yourself. Your health is very important.

bcmom I am the carer for my Mother aged 94. My mother is very weak. She can only just about hold a spoon to eat with. She gets in a mess eating, but still likes to try to feed herself. She is proud of the fact that she can still feed herself.

Last Chapter of Joshua today

And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord died being 110 years old.

Joshua 24 verse 29

Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth.

Joshua 24:14

This is the wonderful message that Joshua gave to the children of Israel.
Joshua's great fear was that the Jews would turn to other Gods.

Summary on the Book of Judges by Jay Smith
The book of Judges includes several interesting genres; Poetry, Riddles, and mainly Narrative History. Its author is anonymous but it is usually assumed that Samuel, the prophet wrote it. It was written about 1086-1004 B.C. Key personalities include Othniel, Ehud, Deborah, Gideon, Abimelech, Jephthah, Samson, and Delilah.

Its purpose was to teach Israel that God is faithful and certain to punish sin therefore each person must remain loyal and devoted to Him. This book shows the immediate generations after the conquest of the promise land and unfortunately, the results of unfaithfulness are similar to what we have seen in the past... awful.

• In chapters 1:1-3:6, we find that the Israelites have failed to keep their part of the covenant (among many other things), and did not entirely conquer and take control of all the land that they were promised. This problem unfortunately grows wildly out of control as time goes on.

• From 3:7-16, God raises up judges to rescue Israel several times. A cycle of sin-rescue-worship-sin continues constantly. These rescues were temporary because we find that the nation’s obedience only lasted as long as the life of that particular judge. Out of the 14 judges mentioned, the major judges that stand out are famous stories of Deborah, Gideon, and Samson.

• In chapters 17-31, we see Israel slumping into a horrid state of moral demise and ruin. Predominantly in the tribes of Dan and Benjamin, we see how far man has really turned from the God of Abraham. The Dan tribe had almost completely given in to the worship of idols made by a man named Micah, even to the point that they practically defend it. Later, the entire tribe of Benjamin is wiped out down to 600 men in a violent and vicious civil war. It is here we read the sad passage of truth, "In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit" (Judges 21:25).
