THE BIG OLD TESTAMENT PICTURE IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION OF JOHN
Rev.1 ch. - Basic stretching canvas a picture made of ancient times, Revelation reveals to the Church „what must soon take place“ (Rev.1: 1) the coming „Day of the Lord“ (see Rev.1: 10); [Prophetic picture of the (new) Exodus Church and the conquest of the Earth has been collected from the experience of Old Testament Israel (see Psalm 105th; Nehemiah 9th chapter.)].
Rev.2 ch. - In the letters to the seven churches faithful witness pointed the eyes of the Church to key Old Testament passages from beginning to end of the Old Testament. The language of Heaven is evident in the message of the entire letter to the church at Ephesus. Christ declares Himself to the Creator, the One who holds the seven stars; He who walks between lamps to judge them as God walking in the Eden garden in Court (avg. Gen.3: 8). On the „angel“ of Ephesus are commanded to keep the church / u its enemies, as Adam was commanded to guard the garden of the enemy (see Gen.2: 15). Christ threatens to come to court and remove the lampstand from its place as expelled Adam and Eve from the garden (see Gen.3: 24). However, the door of Eden is open to those who win the victory over the tempter: „To him who overcomes I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.“ The situation of Smyrna of apparent poverty and indeed spiritual wealth is analogous to the experience of all patriarchs who lived „as strangers in the land of promise“ (Hebrew 11: 8). And really - the state of the patriarchs (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph) and descendants of Israel in Egypt seem to be reflected in the words of the message. Christ describes Himself as the One „who was dead and is alive again“ - redemptive action implied in the life of Isaac (see Gen.22: 1-14; Hebrew 11: 17-19). The imagery throughout the letter to the church in the city of Pergamum was taken from his pilgrimage to Israel in the desert abode of demons (see Lev.16: 10; 17: 7; Deut.8: 15; Matt.4: 1; 12:43); Christians in Pergamum also had to live there „where Satan's seat ... where Satan lives.“ Enemies of the church are described as „Balaam“ and „Balak“ - the false prophet and the evil pagan king who tried to destroy Israel by them tempted idolatry and immorality (avg. Numb.25: 1-3; 31:16; see Rev.13th ch.) in front of the deity Baalpeor. Christ warned the church in Pergamum on destructive heresies of the Nicolaitanes (and Balaam) leads to mixing of paganism with true religion. As the Angel of the Lord and the priest Phinehas Christ threatens to fight / u Balaam and unrepentant Nicolaitans sword (see Numbers 22:31; 24: 7-8; Rev.2: 16). The letter to the church in the city of Thyatira turns entirely to images from the period of Israel monarchy and covenant with the house of David. Christ declared „Son of God“, in the great David (see Ps.2: 7; 89: 19-37; Jerem.30: 9; Ezek.34: 23,24; 37: 24-28; Hosea 3: 5; Acts.2: 24-36; 13: 22,23). He chided the angel of Thyatira whose tolerance „woman Jezebel“ leads to apostasy and idolatry of / among God's people (see 1Kings 16: 29-34; 21: 25,26). She and those who committed adultery with her (see 2Kings 9:22) are threatened with „great sorrow“ by the grief of three and a half years, inflicted in / in Israel in the time of Queen Jezebel (see 1Kings 17: 1; James 5:17); she and her offspring will be killed (avg. 2Kings 9: 22-37). But the one who wins, will be given by David „power over the nations“ (see 2Samuel 7:19; 8: 1-14; Ps.18: 37-50; 89: 27-29). The final promise is reminiscent of David Messianic Psalm dominion, „and he shall rule them with a rod of iron; they will be broken like a potter's vessel, as I received of my Father“ (Ps.2: 9).
Rev.3 ch. - Figurative language of the letter to the church in the town of Sardis referred her to the writings in the Old Testament about events in late prophetic period until the end of Israel monarchy when rebellious covenant people was defeated and taken prisoner, first by the Assyrians, and then by the Babylonians. The description of the reputation of the church as „live“ when it was actually „dead“; exhortation to „wake up“ and to „secure the rest,“ the recognition that there are „few“ who have remained faithful, all reminiscent of the prophetic language of the faithful remnant in the time of apostasy (see Isaiah 1: 5-23; 6: 9-13; 65: 8-16; Jerem.7: 1-7; 8: 11-12; Ezek.37: 1-14) and prompt immediate judgment upon Israel (see Isaiah 1: 24-31; 2: 12-21; 26: 20-21; Jerem.4: 5-31; 7: 12-15; 11: 9-13; Micah 1: 2-7; Zephaniah 1st ch.). Return from Babylonian captivity under Ezra and Nehemiah is reflected in the letter to the church in Philadelphia, suggesting through images of the synagogue, and the restoration of Jerusalem and the temple (books Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi). Phillies, like the children of the captivity Jews have „little effect“. The statement of „those who are of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews and are not“, reminds conflicts with „false Jews“ (avg. Ezra 4th ch.; Nehemiah 4th, 6th and 13th ch.). The warning about the coming of „the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth“ reminds suffered sufferings of the Jews under the rule of the Seleucid, Ptolemaic and Romans (see Dan.11th ch.). The imagery in the letter to the 7th Church - in the city of Laodicea is related to the last years of the Old Testament described in the 4 Gospels. Used expressions refer to the period of offspring witness of Jesus Christ. „Lukewarm“ church praises with their wealth and self-sufficiency, although ignorant of their spiritual blindness and nakedness is actually suitable image taken from the Pharisees Judaism in the first century (see John 9: 39-41; Luke 18: 9 14; Rev.18: 7). Heartlessness and cruelty of the Jewish priesthood, such as the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah, due to their excessive wealth. Warning that will be spit (vomit) from Earth (Covenant curse - see Lev.18: 24-28; Luke 21:24), Judas was admonished by God to repent and accept Christ in the New Testament proposed to her in eating the Lord's supper. In the imagery of the Covenant physical act of eating was an expression of creation; a symbol of longing for the final connection to God.
Rev.4 ch. – (?) The scene of the Court of Dan.7th ch. and then anointing the king of Israel (the image of Yahweh)?
Rev.5 ch. – (?) Day (opening) scrolls, but already anointed king of Israel? Levit.16 ch. and a series of annual festivals in Old Testament Israel Feast of Booths (Tabernacles); (And later - the picture of anointing during the 2nd day of the Feast of Tabernacles, the king of Israel) – Levit.23rd chapter.
Rev.6 ch. - With the first movement (in the series with seals), the artist restored before our eyes the image of the treacherous enemy invaded the life of Abraham's house (see Rev.6: 1.2) and incited the shooter Ismail (see Gen.21: 20) (like the 1st rider) to throw darts (arrows) at, and oppresses the true heir of the Covenant - Isaac. The picture continues with the wicked Esau, the man who lived by the sword (knife) her (see Gen.27: 40) (like the 2nd rider); who himself despised and sold his birthright to his brother Jacob, but then regretted and vowed that he would kill him (see Gen.27: 41; see Rev.6: 3-4). The picture continues with the sale of Joseph by his own brothers; with the anguish of Joseph in prison in Egypt; with the arrival of the 7 years of famine, in which wheat (wheat) would not have; and deliverance of Joseph, through the testimony of the officer of the wine and the oil, which was not damaged (see Gen.39 ÷ 41st ch.; Rev.6: 5.6) (modeled on the 3rd rider). Hand brush swings virtuoso mastery and brings before our eyes the appalling situation and the state of Israel - slaves in Egypt - a chilling picture of the fourfold curse (see Ezek.14: 21) of Slavery and Death (see Exod.1st ch.; Deut.4: 20; Rev.6: 7,8) (modeled on the 4th rider). Here are distorted by the agony of persons dying in Egypt weight Israelites; groaning and cries of crushed slaves rising to Yahweh your question - „How long?“ (see Exod.2: 23-25; Rev.6: 9-11). Passage of the Angel of Death before which tremble and crumble the fabric of the entire universe, is also clearly visible (see Exod.12 ch.; Rev.6: 12-15). Again echoing screams of Egyptians in the land of Egypt, urging a heartbreaking oaths own death because of the unbearable loss of all the firstborn sons of Egypt (see Exod.12: 30; 11: 6; Rev.6: 15-17). Brush misses sealing for deliverance from death on the homes of the 12 tribes of Israel at Passover by placing a mark in the blood of the Passover lamb (see Exod.12 ch.; Rev.7th ch.).
Rev.7 ch. - The picture reflects the end of 430 years of oppression, when „even the same day, all the hosts of the Lord came out of the land of Egypt“ (Exod.12: 41) built as regiments of the invincible army of the Beloved (Yahweh) „terrible as an army with banners“ (see Songs of S.6: 10), compelling all nations on Earth, we presented in Rev.7th ch.
Rev.8 ch. - Even fearsome silence on the night of the Exodus is reflected by a single important detail in the picture (see Exod.11: 7; Rev.8: 1)! Heavenly artist continues skillfully (in series with the trumpets) in the path of advancing OT experience, taking us to the allusion to former experiences of the Jews - the plagues and death of the Egyptian firstborn males (see Rev.8: 7) throwing the glory of Egypt waters the Red Sea (see Exod.14 ch.; Rev.8: 8,9) bitterness at the waters of Marah (see Exod.15 ch.; Rev.8: 10,11); disfigure the old Israel, whose leaders have repeatedly provoke God and whose revolts because their corpses remained in the desert - food circling in the sky birds of prey (see Numbers 14th ch.; Rev.8: 12,13).
Rev.9 ch. - On the sail back out of enemy attacks, compared to a coming out of the abyss flocks of grasshoppers, nations whose raids were compared with stinging and causing excruciating pain scorpions crawled from the depths of the desert-gulf kingdom of Satan (see Rev.9: 1 12). Here is the sad picture of the fatal scarring sins of that generation of Israel because of their devotion to lifeless idols; an addiction and sin, so that Jews out of Egypt cruised to that „hour and day and month and year“ - set 40 years while that unrepentant generation, which angered the Lord, not died in the wilderness (see Rev.9: 13 -21; 1Corrinth.10: 5).
Rev.10 ch. - Holy hand again draws the leadership of Israel by fire and cloud Pillar (God's feet) (see Exod.13: 21) - Witness the Covenant, gave Israel the sweet message of freedom and the bitter news that due their perverse generation that will not come the Promised Land (see Numb.32 ch.; 2Chron.30: 8; Ps.95: 8; Hebrew 3: 8.15; Rev.10 ch.).
Rev.11 ch. - Here is the scene of test and measurement old Israel, through the testimony of Joshua and Caleb - The two witnesses of Yahweh, which was the Spirit (see Numbers 13 and 14 ch; 14:24; Rev.11 ch.).
Rev.12 ch. - Brush with heavenly finesse raises before our eyes the anger of the Red Dragon - that work „an old-fashioned snake, called the Devil and Satan“, struggling / u promises covenant people of wife Sarah, hidden in a descendant - Isaac (Isaac was the image of Christ); failure of Leviathan (monster crocodile) to eat baby Moses (a symbol of Christ's victory over the devil); unsuccessful attempts of the Abyss through the waters of the Red Sea, to devour Israel; Persecution of Women in the desert (see Rev.12 ch.); the success of Dragon over those born in Egypt Israelites died after 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, but not over the „rest of her offspring“ - the children of Israel who suffered forward - to the Promised Land, the Ark of the Covenant with 10 Words [ creation took place 10 Word of God; giving the 10 Words of the Covenant (see Exod.34: 28) - the 10 Commandments at Sinai was new Creation] in / at the testimony, forward, towards the Promised Land.
Rev.13 ch. - Stroke after stroke artfully displayed before our eyes conspiracy m / u both Beast - pagan king Balak and the false prophet Balaam lured Israel to worship an idol-image in Baalpeor (see Numbers 25 ch.; Rev.13 ch.).
Rev.14 ch. - In the picture again appear loyal male Levites who were not defiled with women of Moab in Baalpeor; the remnant of Israel gathered around Joshua prepared to enter the holy land (see Joshua.3 ch.; Rev.14 ch.). (?)
Rev.15 ch. - Here is the seed of Jacob / Israel standing triumphantly across (west of) the river. Jordan into the Promised Land (in Paradise), led by the Angel of the Covenant, singing the song of victory - Song of Moses and of the Lamb (see Joshua 4 ch.; Rev.15 ch.).
Rev.16 ch. - And here comes the picture of Rev.16 ch. - 7 Bowls. Seeing the big picture, described in Rev.16 chapter should be a reflection of the Old Testament story of the fall of consecrated as doomed to burnt with fire of God, the pagan city of Jericho (see Joshua 6th ch.).
Rev.17 ch. - Artist of Revelation will continue with an insertion-a reminder of the story of the beautiful Babylonian garment and disturbance of the tribes of Israel because of the sin of Achan (see Joshua 7th ch.) - Whom Israel later killed and his body burned fire (see Rev.17: 16.).
Rev.18 ch. - In the next chapter we will be reminded of the fateful lot and the court that Joshua made in Israel to be cleansed before it became decisive battle (see Joshua 7th ch.; Rev.18: 20).
Rev.19 ch. - The story of the defeat of the coalition of hostile pagan troops to Israel in the battle for the Promised Land - will be in front of our eyes in the victory of the army of „King of kings and Lord of lords“ (see Joshua 8ch ÷13 ch.; Rev.19 ch.).
Rev.20 ch. - Imaging - how the opponent is' caught, tied up and thrown „for long in the Abyss, and Israel safely rule the earth and how God from His throne will judge the people is the theme of Rev.20 ch. (Association described in book of Judges).
Rev.21 ch. - The picture continues with the description of the City of God - the New Jerusalem, placed among the nations (see Ezek.5: 5; Rev.21: 24-27).
Rev.22 ch. - Finally, everything will end with picture-idyll of God's Kingdom Eden - Promised Land where God and man are together again, fulfilling the prophecies of the cherished collection of all the nations of Mount Zion Temple of Yahweh - in a „new heaven and new earth“ (see Rev.21: 1).
