I know I just did a similar thread awhile back but this one is different I promise. :satisfied:

This is all about your book lists...whether it's for school reading requirements, your good read book lists, or just on your shelf collecting dust waiting to be read. :satisfied:

What are some books you really want to read you just haven't gotten a chance to? What are some book lists that you've read but want to read again?

This thread is for all things books so... let's get reading. :satisfied:

(Im so clever.)

Jim Baker - I Was Wrong
& Christopher Moore's novel called Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff (Christ's childhood friend)
The latter is supposed to be a comedy. From the reviews I've read, Moore seems to be a successful author with even Disney buying or optioning the rights to all of his work. But according to his blurb, "None are in any danger of being made right now."

I've started to read all of these, and I need to pick them back up again.

This is my problem. I begin to read like 3 books at once and then...I don't finish them lol

:sigh: It's even gotten to the point for me that I'm wondering if I should include something like this in accountability. Did you read any literature besides the Bible this week? Uh no.

Hmm I never thought about it like that. I for myself don't think I'd go that for. It's really up to you what you want to read and when you want to read it. :) Buttttt.. I think you should always better yourself and learn something new or else you'll stay the same.

Very good. It is one of the better books on the trinity that I have read. However, the author is a Roman Catholic. So there are a lot of references to Latin within the text.

Awesome. :)

I've wanted to read books that like that but I'm always finicky about the author, like will I be reading something truthful and I guess really I would know it when I read it if it were truthful or not.

Maybe it is putting too much on myself. I just feel like I'm at a stasis sometimes.

I think you are, just go with the flow. :) Just remember, reading for the most part is suppose to be fun! Read about things you like, if you read a book because you feel like you have to it'll make it less enjoyable and then you won't ever read it.

Yeah, that is always my problem when going into places such as used bookstores. I have to have my phone on me in order to research the author of a book before I buy it. Generally, you should be safe selecting any book on the trinity. Roman Catholics, Lutherans, Baptists, etc. all adhere to the same doctrine of the trinity. If you are looking for unitarian books, it gets more tricky. There just aren't a lot of them out there and only a small percentage of the unitarians that write are worth reading.

Thank you for the feedback. :)

There are also a lot of books out there that are about people in Jesus' time and the books aren't necessarily about Jesus but He might be in the book somewhere,, and these books claim to be true stories. I want to read a lot more biblical historical books, and books that dig further into the books of the bible but I never know what to choose and I don't want to get something that will lead me off course.

Pop over to Messianic Judaism, and my Book List, which is a 'sticky' at the head of the Forum. It has many books all about God, Messianic Judaism and related religious subjects. It has, currently, had over 43000 views.

'Messianic Judaism' is about building a bridge between Christians [the meaning of Messianic] and Judaism [the faith of the Jews]. It is a world-wide movement.

Yeah, historical books are very denomination specific. A Roman Catholic book on church history is going to be very different than an Eastern Orthodox book on church history. Most Protestants agree on church history, so I generally am not too bothered when reading from various Protestant authors.

I need to look into this google books thing. I was just introduced to it a few days ago, I didn't even know there was such a thing

Yeah, many books are only previews.. yet the ones that are 100 years+ old are most likely in the public domain so the whole book is available. Some of the things I read gives me goosbumps or depresses me, because so much of what you'd think is modern thinking was written down long ago.

Yup, that's what I think about a lot. People think they've made up terms, or scenarios, or whatever it is but they didn't, it was long ago used.

It's kind of cool actually if you think about it. Someone 100 years ago had the same idea and you may have had.
