Don't get me wrong. I'm not concerned about what people think of me. That's not something I can do anything about anyway.

Regarding thinking about others I do this constantly. I think of no fewer than a dozen other people each day, actually much more than I think about myself. I don't think I'm unique in this.

I get notes of praise all the time.

I don't think I have any enemies. And, I am a very impressive person (so I'm told), no 'striving' needed. My greatness is only exceeded by my modesty.

I agree. We live in a comparison obsessed society. I've read numerous rants about social media on this site. Why can't the person do this or that. Based on their opinions about their behavior. Which is none of their business.

What they buy, wear, share, feel, is not their concern. They make it their concern. It happens all the time. No one's immune. The focus differs for everyone but it exists.
