Colin is such a doofus. He is constantly verbally abusing Christie, and like a total idiot, she just stands there and takes it. What makes me even sicker is that after all that abuse by Colin, Christie still gives him a kiss and cuddles next to him. From what I saw in the previews for the next episode, it looks like Colin looses it again in India when they're making the bricks. I just wish Christie would get a back bone and just tell Colin to stop yelling at her and chill.

I like the two Moms and Chip and Kim. They're the only two teams that look like they've got some humor in all of this.

BTW, I did like Mirna and Charla, even though Mirna did irritate me at times.

I know, after my seeing Linda at the gym in the beginning of the show, you probably think I'm making it up. But, I really did. She was loading her groceries onto the conveyer belt in the line I was in. She was after me.

Karen was very nice, very normal actually. Just like anyone else I might bump into here.

I didn't get any clues as to the outcome. Personally I wouldn't really even ask because I don't want to ruin my own fun watching it. But I don't think she would have told me anyway.

I'm still pulling for them, mainly because they are from the town I live in. But, since the show is in reality already over, I guess this means that they didn't win? Because I don't think either of them would stay here if they had all that money.

I told her about this site. Wouldn't it be cool if she dropped by? :D Anyway, after I saw her all I could think about was reporting back to you all. :D

I don't think they get the money until after the show has completely aired. So, they would still be living the life they had before the show.

I believe there's a disclosure clause in the contract they have to sign that states they can't reveal any of the results until they've been revealed to the public, or they would have to pay a very hefty penalty. Same thing as "Survivor".

I wonder if the twins will be able to survive having no money on this next leg? The moms did it, but there were also more teams at that point that had the potential to come into the Pit Stop after them.

That's what I wonder too The moms were at least in a town when they got stripped of their money, but the twins are in the middle of the desert, so I don't know how they will get out. In the previews I saw how they looked like they were trying to charm the men in town, I was like they better be careful before some of the guys think they really are offer something! If you know what I mean! ;) LOL! :D

Wow really?! Cool! But yeah I think that rules them out as the winners because if they are not driving new cars or moving to a new home or something else that indicates coming into sudden money, that means they didn't win. LOL! Especially if they were using coupons in the store! LOL! :D

krstlros is correct, they have a major clause in their contract to not say a word. If racers are married and did not race with their spouses they aren't even supposed to tell THEM they've been on the race. Obviously once the race begins airing everyone knows, but the maximum penalty for disclosing the results is 10 million dollars. Yep, 10 million. So not only can the winners not get their money until after the last episode, they can't even tell anyone they've been on the race, at least until it starts to air. This particular race actually began the last week of January, with everyone back home likely by the end of February. So with the final sometime in September (the 21st, I think), that's 7 months after the last leg is run. Imagine waiting on that!

Wisdom, that's really cool about seeing Karen. The only reality folks I could possibly run in to would be Jenna Morasca or Amber Brkich, lol. :)

Dwayne Brady! I'm sorry Chip, but you came in third after Damon Wayans...

Oh no! Not at all - I'm really ridiculing USIncognito (lol! :p)who thinks I only want Chip/Kim to win because they're Christians. I was trying to show a "non-Christian" look at why they deserve to win - you just helped me out GREATLY is all.

1. Please, and anyone else who reads my posts, call me US. It's easier to type and is a more accurate reflection of the user name I'm "toning down" for CF.
2. Now, to be clear, I don't think you want Cliff and Claire only to win because they're Christians - I think every Christian on this thread wants Chip and Kim or Brandon and Nichole to win because they're Christians. ;)

But seriously to any other readers than WS and SuzyQ - both of whom I'm totally flirting with (dang where's combination raspberry, winkie and rolleyes smilie when you need it)... despite Chip's bad history and "a brothah returns to Africa" stchick, I am rooting for them for the same reason I'm rooted for Charla and Mirna. He, and to a less obviously filmed sense, she are enjoying the Race.

I love that! If I didn't smoke (9 hours on a plane? I'd kill myself) or have a fear of heights (well, that an 2.2 lbs. of caviar) I'd have applied for the show and exhibited the same exuberance for being in locations that he - infectiously - has. Given the obvious wealth they posess from their residence, I'd rather someone with less money win the million, but the two of them are just so cute enjoying the settings of the Detours and the Pit Stops. I must root for them.

So, about Colin... on another board I post to, the women there were discussing how he's exactly like abusive men they dated or just like abusive men their girlfriends had dated and that Christie's supplicance to his rage is very telling. Sometimes when I view these two, I half expect Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew Pinsky to do voice overs. So I root for them an here's why...

A half-million dollars will allow Christie to get the heck away from this future wife beater and establish herself. Please get help hon. You deserve better, and you can find better.

Bowling moms - You epitomize the ugly American with your taxi rides. Apart from that, you go girls! If there's going to be a first all-women team win, I'd rather it be you than the Evil Twins. I have nothing positive to say about the Evil Twins, and my comments about how they might earn their lost money would get me banned from CF, so I'll pretend they're not in the race until next week.

Brandon and Nichole, please take the Fast Forward if you get it. Nichole will still look gorgous sans hair, and can wear a wig until it grows out. Bandon - lose the mop dude. Period.

:D You are too funny U.S.

I got Karen's name wrong. I didn't even realize it until Arwen's post. Thank you Arwen for not making me feel more embarassed about it than I already do. Oh well :sigh: God never allows My ego to grow too large as I'll always make a stupid mistake like this to restore my humility. Yes, that's right...you heard if from my own lips (or fingers in this case) I really don't know everything. :D

I'll add this, Karen didn't correct me. I have to say I admire that she was nice about it too. I would have corrected someone calling me by the wrong name. (but maybe it's because my name is just uncommon enough that 99 times out of 100, people get it wrong. And, I'm sure I've developed an attitude about it. ) :D

Blah, Blah, Blah....I guess my 6 year old is right about me. :D

You never know....maybe they're desperate enough to win that they really WOULD do anything to get the money to get out of the desert. :)

:D They are just so nerdy. Poor scrawny little things, batting their eyelashes and tilting their heads. The whole "We're young, we're cute" thing..seems pretty deluted. But I don't know...maybe men find that sexy.

Did you mean Wayne Brady? He's that guy that can put music to anything on Who's line is it anyway? I love that guy. He's so talented.

Correction...I'm a Chrstian and I wouldn't ever show preference to anyone because of what religion they or anyone else says they are. In my opinion, God judges that, it's not my business. Besides I have seen way more
christians who act like heathans than should rightly be so, so titles don't necessarily mean anything.(in other words, my opinion is moot) And, I sure don't like Brandon and Nichole...they're just too whimpy. A character flaw that I have never been able to get behind. I like Chip and Kim because they have a good attitude and support each other. I wouldn't care if they were atheists or Muslim as far as that goes. Sorry.

I agree with you about the Colin/Christie pattern similarity to common abusive relationships. I've seen first hand how this happens. That's why I said I was sorry for her. She has such a low sense of self worth that she thinks she deserves whatever he says or does. She accepts it. She even apologizes to him for it. That situation with the police in the last episode gave me shivers. It was earily familiar to me how he put her in danger and then not only did not take any responsibility for it, but he then turned on the charm to other people when he retold the story casting her as the villain.

With women in abusive relationships, people often get angry at them for putting up with it, like what has been evidenced by some of the posts in this thread. My Mother says that sometimes inexperience leads to a lack of compassion. I personally think if you're going to be angry at someone it should be the one who is causing it, not the one who is bearing the brunt of it.

When it comes down to it society, does not support women in this area. Even the police do not really support women in this area. If you consider the longer reaching mental effects of abuse, you would be right to say it fundamentally changes who the person is forever.

Any one of us would help a dog that was being beaten by a person. But very few people would even say something to stop a man from abusing a woman. We are a callous society. We don't want to get involved. I realize that they edit down this show, but I'm a little surprised that nobody has said anything to her in support. I know I would have.

I just hope that someone helps Christy to realize that nobody deserves to be treated this way. No one is going to rescue her from it. They'll just silently watch it happen, like people watch car wrecks or fires. Many human beings are still hanging onto their caveman mentality. So, they actually get an adrenaline rush from watching abuse happen. It's sick. And I still hold on to hope that somehow we'll evolve evolutionarily some day. (sorry about the soapbox.)

We don't. :D Their faces remind me of the Rocky character from the movie Mask.

Speaking of brushes with fame, I'm going to try and make it to Cafe Nostra some time. I've checked the menu though, and I think I would enjoy Olive Garden or Romano's Macaroni Grill better.

Every word you said was justifed and important for all women to read - especially any that might be facing the same situation.

Colin and Christie are apparently still together. I wonder if they shall remain so after she views how he acted during the Race.
