rau2j33,
You said; "I hate to miss the RNC. Best quote last nite, "We need a beacon, not a weathervane.""
Would you mind explaining what your post means. I don't get it. Thanks.

freak_of_today,
I really had no idea that people from Austrailia would get, let alone be interested in watching American T.V. :sorry:

US,
you actually watch Scrubs? :o

I love that show! In an era dominated by trashy reality TV (along with the good stuff like TAR) and cop dramas (new this fall Law and Order: Donut Patrol) it's one of the few sitcoms that is edgy, creative, funny and actually has a heart to it's characters.

Okay US. You win. In my opinion Scrubs is so bad it's actually painful to watch. But then I am a bit older than you. (and a woman) ;) So, I don't get it, but, "To each his own".

Are you going to be able to watch The Amazing Race tonight? Or do you have to miss it and catch it later like you have been lately? I look forward to your posts and your unique perspective on the show. :D

Spoiler...

Two Non-elims in a row? What is going on here? We have two more elims, then a non-elim, leading into the finale. (Last two, if they hold form, will be a two hour, two-leg, episode.) What a shame, last place tonight DESERVED to go, for leaving one task, and chickening out about having her hair shaved. (Maybe you ladies will understand it... I would have just said, "A million dollars!" and sat down...)

On another point... Sometimes I wish I had applied for this show... Russia, India, U.A.E, Tazmania, Argentina, Egypt... so many of my favorite places. With all the STUPID mistakes they have made... Two made HUGE ones tonight... leaving the bag at the water-park, and taking a cab, when they were supposed to drive THEMSELVES. Lucky for then, It didn't cost either of them all their money. (Not that anyone has much, at this point)

Teams:

Colin and Christie: Hate, hate, HATE! Colin is about as arrogant as they come, Christie could be fine on her own, but Colin is ruling the roost.

Chip and Kim: They're my favorites at this point- they're the only ones actually ENJOYING this race, minimal fussing at each other, cooperaive decisions, etc. Note to Chip: Wife drives, you push!

Kami and Karli: Get over yourselves. You're cute, but you're not the most beautiful things God has ever made! They're ****** in the making, the way they begged for money tonight in Dubai.

Karen and Linda: Why are they still here! Only because of the producers. I GUARANTEE you, if I left a bag holding TWO U.S. passports just sitting there for that long while, it would disappear. Do you know how much those little books of 24 sheets of paper are worth on the black market in that part of the world? (They might all hate us, but they all still want to BE us!)

Brandon and Nicole: Brandon, it's a relationship, not a dictatorship. Get over yourself.

Spoilers :

Don't pick on Brandon. I thought he was pretty sweet tonight to Nicole. Nicole annoyed me tonight. She was pretty whiny (people are pushing me, people are looking at me, ewww, ewww, Brandon help me  ) and somewhat snippy with Brandon...I didn't like that. Brandon *dreamy sigh* thank you for not shaving your beautiful hair. LOL, although, for a million bucks I probably would have done it.

Colin is the type of man who ruins it for all the nice men out there. He's so arrogant, rude, and full of himself...and Christy makes me want to shake her. Wake up, girl! Your man is a JERK! If I were Christy I'd seriously be wondering if a million dollars was worth putting up with the kind of abuse he dishes at her constantly.

The moms were irking me a little tonight...the constant complaints. But I'm glad she didn't pay that cabby the 40 dollars...that guy was just wrong.

The twins...they ALWAYS irk me. But, tonight they should have been ashamed of themselves.

Chip and Kim...I love them. I hope they win it all. Chip has the best attitude about things. And I love that they're not fooled a bit by Colin's act.

Chip and Kim are so endearing. I'm really enjoying this journey with them. I love how well they get along with each other and the other players. They seem like such a fun couple.

The Twins, please, please, please eat something!!! By the way, they are legends in their own minds and it's getting old. I agree they are cute but so are about 1 billion other women on the planet.

The Bowling Moms, had an off night or day I guess. I imagine by this point in the race they are tired, missing their homes and families and are getting just a bit testy. I can understand that. I would be ready to hurt my best friend if I had to spend so much time with her. LOL! I love her but this thing is intense and tensions are bound to arise.

Colin and Christy, All I'm going to say is that if they win the money he needs to invest some serious time and money into anger management classes. Immediately.

Brandon and Nicole, what can I say? Actually, not much without offending HeatherJay. LOL! JK! ;) I will say that I am glad they are still in it. It should be interesting to watch them try to get money next week.

Colin and Christy won't win. They've led far, far to much of the race to win. We can only hope, though, that Christy will wake up, and realize that colin IS a jerk before too long.

Brandon and Nicole will really have a hard time. Cairo is swamped with tourists. Dubai is rich as the USA. Calcutta is NEITHER- begging money is VERY hard, look at the moms, they couldn't even easily convert USD to local! (Although, they will be starting at one of Calcutta's main attractions- this should give them at least a snowball's chance in... India! ;) )

I loved the look on Brandon's face when he found out they were still in it. :) I don't blame them for "chickening out," as one poster before me said. I wouldn't have shaved my head for any amount of money (well, maybe if it was $10 million...I could buy a really nice wig with that!!!). You have to consider the fact that they're models, and they can't exactly shave their heads because of work.

I'm still watching the show, but it's okay that I read spoilers. I kind of like having other's views on things.

One thing I can say is that Colin really scared me during the previews. He needs some serious attitude modfication. I'm praying for Christie to really wake up and see how Colin is like when they're watching the shows because she needs to really evaluate this relationship.

I can't believe that after taking the "Fast Forward", Nicole didn't want to do it because tshe didn't want to have her hair shaved off.

Chicky....it's just hair. It WILL grow back.

In any case, I'm glad it was a non-elimination round and they're still in it. I don't think there are anymore non-eliminations until the final three. Just praying Colin and Christie are last next week. Don't want to see if Colin is going to blow a gasket though.

Note to Chip: Wife drives, you push!

But did you see the look on his face while in the taxi. It was great. He was like a kid in a candy store. I started laughing when I saw it.

I'm glad Brandon and Nicole are still around. I don't know why, but they do not seem to irritate me as much as they do everyone else.

My irritation is set on Colin. Oh, I was so excited when his bricks were turning out like poo . . . but I like what Chip is doing, and I agree with him. Stroking Colin's ego so he'll eventually make a mistake. That will be a beautiful moment.

Funny, yes... but, there are times you have to do what keeps the wife happy- and that was one of them. Don't make her push the car again. If I can do it, you could have too. (And to the twins, and moms, don't expect the locals to do all your work for you- get out and help- it's just pushing a car...

Well, she didn't seem too upset about it. Sure, she said something to him, but if she didn't make a big deal out of it, why should we?

But it grows back! You can live off of a million dollars until you can become a model again. And I'm sure some star like Moby or Michael Jordan will come out with something that they'd be perfect for.

I think those of us who can't or don't watch the show in real time realize that we should avoid things like this thread, shows devoted to reality TV or the CBS website after midnight PDT, but since Erwin went though the trouble of coding it, there is spoiler tags.

As noted in the spoiler thread, all you have to do is code potential spoiling messages thusly:
Lance and Marshall are fat, that's why Marshall's knees give out[/spoiler.] Less the periods (or full stops) after the equal sign and /spoiler end tag. For more details check the thread link above.

Scrubs deserves another thread, but I do love that show. My 66 year old mother enjoys it as well so your comments ring hollow. Maybe we can get to the bottom of our disagreement over it with one question - Dr. Cox... funny or not?

Every other Tuesday I have to tape the show and assiduously avoid threads like this one as mentioned in my mini spoiler rant above. To be honest, I enjoy having my taped copy - I can't afford Digital Cable or TiVo to watch when I come home.

The two non-elims in a row has a precident last season. The final non-elim will likely be the next to final leg in the likely 2 hour finale. I personally would rather they spread them out a bit and have a non-elim in the first 2 or 3 legs just to mix up the participants a bit.

I hate - as an atheist who will look bad - but I cheered internally when Brandon and Nichole made the decision to go back for the fast forward. I saw three equally satisfying outcomes.
1. They got their heads shaved which meant that Blue Lagoon boy would lose his locks... just like Sampson.
2. They would chicken out and prove that vanity is their most important core value, leading to them being eliminated and... well 'nuff said.
3. They would chicken out and prove that vanity is their most important core value, leading to them not being eliminated on a non-elim round making for a more interesting race.

I'm glad it was the third scenario, but I see them as being in trouble for the reasons mentioned by some of you above. They're out of money in a tremendously poor country and they're obviously hours behind the competition. I'm not sure the preludes of the Blunder Twins having problems bodes well for them, but Nicky is hot and I want her on my TV sceen as long as possible.

Speaking of Team DNA - you're not that "cute!!! You look like your faces were leftovers from Rocky's prostetics in Mask. And if I have to see your nipples at a Pit Stop again I'm going to gouge out my eyes. Please get some padded or sport bras immediately. And despite the whole not being cute thing, Muslim Arab men already consider Western women to be harlots - please don't contribute to that misconception by hugging and lap dancing every guy who gives you 10 Dinars.

Speaking of the mistreatment of women. Bertram van Munster, despite having a cool name, your decision to send the female participants in the race through the gropeathon that is Indian rail transport disgusts me. You knew from previous seasons that the female contestants would need to ride on the males only train and face the groping and fondling of Indian men, so why didn't you either give the contestants a heads up, or provide some security.

Not that I'm letting the manhood of India off the hook. Look jerks, tourists are less likely to visit your stinky, filtly sites if the women don't have to put up with having their bottoms fondled for getting on the mens car of a co-ed train. I'm tempted to write my congressman to limit the number of H1-B visas.

Just a few weeks ago I watched a fascinating travelogue on Dubai that featured the Wild Wadhi. It looks fun. The hostess - yes hostess, wore an "appropriately" modest swimsuit, which made me wonder if local women were allowed to use the water park wearing such outfits or if they had to do the water slide with 35 lbs of waterlogged Hijab. The whole scene reminded me of when I was a teenage boy enjoying the waterpark in Oslo, Norway and this woman took her top off and was right behind me in line...

... but I digress.

I love this show!!!

I couldn't resist.

My, my, my - two non-elims in a row? Who'd'a thunk it? Except a lot of us, that is. Still a satisfying leg. Even a bad TAR is a good TAR.

Charles Manson's little brother & Christie: Please. Oh, please. Get him out of my sight soon. Annoying Colin-isms this week? Sarcasm about the neighborhood he's riding through. Not everyone can be as fresh and clean as you, buddy. Brick packing. Can you say bipolar? From smacking the brick to insane jubilation about beating Chip? I'm no doctor, but I think not only does he need anger management classes (per RJ1  ) but he needs medicated. I am starting to build my resolve that they will win this thing so I can be pleasantly surprised if they don't. Please let them run in to a cabbie who won't be as tolerant as last week's.

Chip & Kim: Still loving them. I am so happy they realized their cab vs. driving themselves mistake. At this stage of the game it's very easy to make dumb mistakes due to fatigue. How fast did Chip go down the slide at Wild Wadi? Does he even allow Kim to drive at home? Will his theory of building Colin up hold true (I'm inclined to believe no, personally)?

BM's: Linda, take a chill pill. I find it amusing that the most we have heard out of Karen was regarding her rapidly dissolving ability to handle Linda. I know I would have snapped on her a long time ago. I do hope they get to the final 3, for some strange reason. Oh, and the cab incident? Totally unfair, in light of Colon (misspelling intentional) and the Tanzania-ator.

Twinkies: Lord. Is that how they "flirt"? Way to not know anything about people in Arab countries, either. Did you catch when one of them went to give the guy in the car a hug and he was all, "Back off! Hands to yourself!"? 'Tis a serious offense for a Muslim to touch a woman who is not his wife, I believe. I was kind of bummed there was no getting lost by them this week. Can they *gasp* actually be getting better?

Brandon & Nicole: I for one am happy they were not Philiminated. I am going against popular opinion here about the FF debacle, and say I applaud them for not doing it. Why? Because it proves that they really are not expecting God to help them win the race. They were thinking of their careers, and it was actually a very wise decision, at least for Nicole. Yes, hair grows, but to get it to her length again it would take a long time. I totally think Brandon would have done it. When they were in the cab going back to the RB, Nicole was gushing over how sweet he was, and he just kept looking out the window for awhile before giving her that forced grin. And I LOVED his reaction when they were told it was non-elim. "WHAT? Are you serious?" That was really cute. [/gushing]

On to the Far East next week, it appears. And I'm really curious what those hamster ball things are that they show in the preview.

I've said it before, I'll say it here, I'll say it again later. The first leg should be non-elim. Just to give the field time to settle, to get comfortable, to avoid one early accident costing you the entire race- Make the first leg non-elim, then don't do any more until we're down to five, then a non-elim, then eliminate, then the third non-elim, down to three, non-elim, finale.

Looks like the Bowling Moms are finally getting stressed out. If it were me I would have not hung in this long without snapping or whining. Linda's voice when she's upset is just above my pain threshold. Could you believe that taxi driver expecting them to pay his meter when he told them to follow them because he was going there anyway? Glad he settled for $15.00. But still...what is it with these countries. Are they just inherantly corrupt in their thinking? They sure throw ethics and common decency out the window don't they? But I'm still pulling for my home team. #3...not at all bad.

I knew nobody was going to cut their hair. Brandon was such a sweetheart about the whole thing. I could totally identify with Nichole in not wanting to cut her hair. It's different for women. Most women anyway. Our hair is more than hair, it's tied into our self image, and in her case into her sellability as a model. I also thought it a credit to him how he was so open to talking to the people that were crowding and staring. Poor Nichole though. I can totally relate to how clausterphobic that would make me feel if I were in her place. I'm glad they weren't eliminated. But to have to beg for money in an already impoverished country? That's going to be tough. But the people there have already been really generous. So, who knows.

Colin was a lot better in the temper department this time. He snapped once or twice, but not nearly as bad as last week. I personally think it's odd that harely anyone could watch how they were making those bricks and not be able to emilate how they did it. Are they just dense?

Speaking of people not being able to make bricks being dense. Chip sure showed that he could do it. He watched, he emilated the actions and he did a good job. He just flew through that task, no problem. Kim's comments about him making her push the taxi cracked me up. Yeah, I would have to agree, that wasn't what we're used to expecting from ole Chip. Nope.

Couldn't believe that they had to push those taxis and all those people helped them. Some of them didn't even help push the taxis themselves.

I think they went through India last year too. It's amazing to me that a culture so old would be in such a state of decay. Is this Englands influence? Something to look into later for me.

I like that the eliminations and the non-eliminations are done in random predetermined order. I wouldn't want to be able to predict the outcome of this show. I like that it keeps you pulled in until the very last moment.

Does anyone know how many episodes are left?

This is not TAR related, so anyone other than US can and should stop reading now. This could have been p.m.'d but I didn't want to take it to that level. So please, your indulgence. This will be my last such non TAR related interjection.

US, I'm not sure what part of "To each his own" and "you win" you didn't get. But let me put a period on this discussion for the sake of the other people here as well as the weariness I'm beginning to feel in defending my position repeatedly.

Scrubs is misogynistically offensive to women. Women typically do not find such adolescent male humor worthy of their time. If your mother is an exception to what I or most women I know think about misogyny in television, then she is an exception.

I think you're better than this trash. But I'm not your Mother, watch what you want. I don't like that avatar of yours either since we're discussing opinions of mine that don't coinside with yours. So what? Doesn't mean I don't like you. So, can we drop this now please?

Oh and you asked me what I thought about Dr.Cox. Men like him usually are more likely to run strip joints or adult book stores than practice medicine. But yeah, I don't like him or his type of humor, he's an a..
