Thank you. After I wrote that I copied the title of the site you were quoting into my search engine and have spent the last 20 minutes reading the last entry. I was actually comeing back to tell you nevermind, I found it. But thank you, The writer has a pretty funny take on the whole thing. :D

Well, I'm looking forward to tonights episode. I guess I'll check back here afterwards and read everyone's take on it. This thread is a lot of fun. :)

We do summaries over at my reality tv site as well. It's only for 18 and over and the language can be pretty harsh so I'll only PM the URL at request. The summaries are much shorter than TWP, but are often hilarious.

TWP is a great source for questions you have about shows that you miss or have a question about an incident as they get very detailed.

Thanks RJ1, now I won't have to watch it when it comes on in an hour and a half. ;) (But I will anyway.)

I don't actually have a problem with your spoiling the ending for me. But next time You might want to use a spoiler tag for everyone else who hasn't seen it yet. ;)

Thanks WS, I totally agree.

Although, I have this really bad habit of wanting to know the results before I see the episode.

These are the two sites I use to keep myself up to date on my reality shows:

www.realitynewsonline.com gives summaries on "life" shows like "Big Brother"

www.wgvo.com This is the one I use to find out the results on the day's episodes. Gives current as soon as results are aired.

I have to tape the episodes due to commitments on Tuesday nights, so I just stay away from anything TAR related until I watch it.

That said - - since the show has started on the west coast I'll now add my comments.

Woo-hoo! I love the legs where it's not a foregone conclusion who will be eliminated (like last week). And this ep had me up and down the whole time. When Colin was counting money I thought it would be a non-elim. When Brandon was talking about if it was God's will that they win the race I thought they'd be eliminated. When Charla & Mirna were at the mat I thought for sure I wouldn't be so lucky and that it would be non-elim.

Two quick notes: I think Chip & Kim are up there amongst my favorite racers ever. And, I have never seen Phil get emotional EVER when he's eliminated a team. You would think he'd be happy that Mirna wouldn't be assaulting him any more. :D

I hope this hasn't been asked before, but Arwen made me think of the question. Who is your favorite racing couple from the entire length of the series? Mine would be Teri & Ian, the older couple from Amazing Race 3. They did bicker and fight a lot, but when it came really came down to it they stuck to each other and got the job done. They had to do something right: their second-place finish makes them the highest-placing older couple in the entire series!

I only caught the last few episodes of season 1, but I did like Kevin and Drew also. My other favorites were Oswald & Danny (Cha-cha-cha's), Ken & Gerard, John Vito & Jill, the clowns and Amanda & Chris (even though they weren't on long in their season). In looking at this list I'll say that Chip & Kim are on the fast track to the top spot!

Bah! You have no self-control!

I work every other Tuesday and avoid not only this thread, but cbs.com, televisionwithoutpity and my rtv site for not one, not two, not five, but twelve hours until I've watched my tape. Since I arrrive home about 7am, and my VCR defaults to CBS when I turn it on, I have to quickly switch it so as not to hear, "and later, Charla and Mirna..." and self-spoil.

Which reminds me of my worst self-spoiled moment. During Survivor: Pearl Necklace I recorded the show (also work alternating Thursdays) and avoided any spoilage until I was driving home. I had Stern on figuring he'd be talking about lesbians or his previous nights dinner at Nobu. Sure enough, while going to commercial, "coming up Heidi the latest Survivor eliminated..."

Well, since I'm discussing videotape, let me offer my comments on last nights show.

I was surprised at the departure times as with the Sun setting it seemed like more time had passed between Colin and Christie and Team Spare (tire). It was only an hour an a half, but seemed more like 4 hours with the Sun setting.

I hate Brandon's hair more and more each episode, but he redeemed himself in my atheist eyes, when he said that he didn't feel that God specifically want them to win the Race, but you never know. More talk like that and some hair straightener and he might win me over. Any sincere Christian who is open with his beliefs, but doesn't think God wants him to win a reality TV show is alright in my book. I'm already rooting for Nichole, but I don't want to get into why. ;)

Charla running beneath Christie's arm was hilarious, and how much of an omen was it that the diametically opposed cousins couldn't open their route information?

In the midst of the whole airport/trying to get to Kenya drama... Arrrrggghhh!!! My tape ran out.

Well, I know what's going on from Char and Mirna's appearance on The Early Show, so I'll offer these few additional comments:

- Mirna, see a mental health professional about your aversion to eating.
- Charla, "help small lady" aside, you rocked. I wanted to see the two of you go further.
- Evil Twins, from the Early Show footage, I guess you came in 5th. Bahahahaahahah!
- CBS, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for rerunning TAR on Saturdays. I miscalculated the remaining time on the tape I used to record the show, and no amount of recaps and summaries would make up for missing the broadcast itself.

As always... I LOVE THIS SHOW.

Why can't they just get rid of Mirna, but keep Charla?? After all, she did most EVERYTHING!! She ate the caviar, she went down in the mine, she ate the ostrich egg.....She rocked. I have to admit I did get all teary-eyed despite her sappy speech about how little people have to do triple the work as other people, blah-blah-blah. Bless her heart.

I guess I don't understand how it is the BOWLING MOMS got another chance, but no one else does? I'm new to this show this season, so I guess I don't get the rules.

For next week, I really think Colin & Christie need to go. The twins are annoying, but they don't whine & complain nearly as much as C & C. My husband couldn't believe the guy was too wimpy to stomach an OMELET! Good gracious...

"GO CHIP AND KIM - FIRST PLACE AGAIN! WOO-HOO!" The man even gave thanks & blessings to God before eating that nasty ostrich-egg-omelet. They rock!

Luck of the last place finish. There's 3 more non-elimination legs to go. Should be interesting.

Again, while I don't think God is particularly interested in his believers winning TAR (Mirna supplicated herself repeatedly), but if Chip will stop the ghetto stuff while living in an elclave of millionaires I'm totally for them to win.

SuzQ the answer to your question is in the phrase " Pre-determined non-elimination leg of the race". They were just lucky enough to come in last when it wasn't an elimination leg. There are three of these.

Well, I'm sad to see Mirna and Charla go for the simple reason that now the game will probably not leave much we can sink our teeth into in this discussion.

I think Chip and Kim are really enjoying the game. I'm glad they got to see Africa. I can understand how a couple living in South Central L.A. the most poverty stricken embarassment of my home state would truly feel blessed to get to see the world, let alone the country of their ancestry. It was nice to see.

The thing that irritated me about this leg of the race is the bus situation. The first bus, the one with Chip and Kim was charged $5.00, the third bus, the Bowling Moms and Mirna and Charla were charged $3.00. But, the middle bus, the driver not only first wanted to charge them $40.00 but then tried to get them to pay $200.00 to leave right away, unhappily settling for $100.00 to leave right away, which he did not... and then the bus ran out of gas?! Then he still had the nerve to want all the extra money after that agrevation, and went as far as to hit Brandon's girlfriend when he didn't get it right away! I have a suspicion why this happened. Corrupt driver surely. But it's obvious that because all but one of the race team members were women and mostly blonde, and the only man was blonde that he marked them for his corruption. I thought prejudice like this was restricted to U.S. soil. This was an eye opener. Reminds me of last season a little bit. You would think that the race people would not book the route in areas where things can have the potential to turn dangerous.

Chip and Kim are the only pair deserving virtually no disdain - though they live in an area of Orange County, CA where houses start well over $350,000 so the "ghetto" schtick is getting old.
Chip said that they were from South Central L.A.. So. Central is crime infested, overcrowded, and poverty stricken for the most part. It's opressive. Maybe that's where they lived before they moved to Coto de Caza.

Even so, $350,000 for a house in Southern California is pretty low end. Shocking as that may seem.

I hate deleting posts wihtout putting something at least remotely useful in them, so... uh... Did you know that Vanna White claps an average of 720 times per epsiode of "Wheel of Fortune"?

I cannot believe Colin and Christie this round, the were whining sniveling selfish brats! I can't believe she blocked the door to the airport. But Mirna's major complaining about it ticked me off too. Also When Christie gloated about it, I felt like punching her! Anyway, I am still rooting for Brandon and Nichole, but Nichole kind of lost her temper, but I wouldn't have been so ready to give the man their money either, they had to pay 40 dollars for the tickets while everyone else paid 3 or 5! And I kind of wonder why no one did the bees, I would have... But Chip and Kim seem to be getting better and better, nicer, smarter ect.
