Most of us Alien fans prefer to pretend like the 3rd and 4th never happened. We like to think that ater "Aliens" they all just went home and lived happily ever after (including Bishop).
Alien 3 was okay I guess... but killing off the survivors from "Aliens" right off the bat was unacceptable. Some of the minor characters were interesting and entertaining, but a majority end up just being Alien food for he dissapointing climax. Couple that with unsuspenseful atmostphere and inbetwen scenes and uninteresting death scenes, and you force thousands of true Alien fans to disown this movie from the franchise in their own minds in order to protect the awesomeness and perfection of the first two.
And what can I say about Aliens: Resurrection? Well, Ron Perlman was awesome in it (and the best and most enjoyable thing about it). Actually the best thing about this movie is it's characters, who are all suprisingly interesting and entertaining. everyone is unique and I was actually sad when one of them died.Truth be told, it's an okay "Sci-fi/thriller/action movie" as I do enjoy several scenes (underwater chase and the "chestburster through head" scene), but some of it is just unbearable, and goes out of it's way to cut-off everything that made the previous aliens cool, and basically milk whatever they could out of the franchise.
And my gosh, I have never felt such pain while watching a movie as I did during the "Newbown" scenes. never mind the whole clone thing, forget the "Ripley has alien powers", when the Newborn enters the picture is it really what finally doomed this movie into not only being a failur ein itself, but also to partially ruining the Franchise as a whole. that is what put the nail in the coffin. It's a very, very, very, very, poor excuse for an "Alien" movie, so I just pretend that it's not, or better yet, that it doesn't exist at all.
I mean if you guys enjoyed the last two movies than good for you, but I'm gonna stick with my pals Dallas and Hudson until it's Game Over for me, man.
