Time for a quick google. Aha, this looks the sort of thing:

"If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to God), never will it be accepted of him." (Qur'an 3:85)

"For We assuredly sent amongst every people a prophet, with the command: Worship Me and avoid false gods." (Qur'an 16:36

"That which you worship besides Him are only names and you and your forefathers have invented for which Allah has sent down no authority; the command belongs only to Allah: He has command that you worship Him; that is the right religion, but most men do not understand." (Qur'an 12:40

"Whoever among the Christians and Jews hears of me but does not affirm his belief in what I brought and dies in that state will be among the inhabitants of Hell." (Sahih Muslim [English Translation], Vol.1 P.91 No.284)

Crumbs. Looks like the muslims are pretty sure they're right too, AV.

Atheism doesn't swing on either God or Allah having written a sacred text. Your belief and muslim belief does. That is the difference. And when you look at quotes from the two texts they both say the same thing: Believe in our faith or go to hell. Very confusing for someone who hasn't been brainwashed, wouldn't you say?

No, but their sacred text is the trademarked AV2010 McGraw-Hill bible -- (unless the AV2011 is out now).

There may be similarities, but the differences are enough to clearly make the two incompatible.

Not to me.

I know how to deal with the likes of Joseph Smith and Mohammad.

Why do you think the United States is called 'The Great Satan' and England is called 'The Lesser Satan'?

But your evidence for what you believe, AV, is no better than their evidence for what they believe. They claim their book is written by their god and is true. You claim that your book is written by your god and is true.

Your evidence is just the same as theirs.

God and Allah are the same thing. Both Muslims and Christians worship the God of Abraham, therefore the same God. The Bible NEVER says you will go to hell if you believe something different. Show me. I challenge you, in fact:
Jas 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their afflictions, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

Atheists, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, I dare to say homosexuals and some Christians will get to heaven.

God is love. End of story.

Well, fundamental christians seem to have got the idea into their heads somehow. If it's not in the bible I'd be interested why so many of them think that non-believers are hades bound.

Ah, the wonders of google. Apparently these are the two most relevant verses:

"He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not
believe will be condemned." (Mark 16:16 RSV)

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the
life; no one comes to the Father, but by me.
(John 14:6 RSV)

The same websites claim their true meaning has been much abused. So there we are.

Really?

Does Allah have a son?

If so, what's his name?

Hmmm -- the first time you see the word 'worship' in the Bible is here:

Ge 22:5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.

According to Christians, who is that lad that is mentioned in this passage? according to Islam, who is he?

(Please answer this -- and kudos if you can do so w/o looking it up first.)

Just live a good life and live according to your conscience
Sorry -- that dispensation failed and led to the Flood:

Here are the 7 dispensations, with their judgments:

  1. Innocence = expulsion from the Garden of Eden
  2. Conscience = the Flood
  3. Human Government = the Tower of Babel
  4. Promise = Egyptian Captivity
  5. Law = the Cross of Christ
  6. Grace (the current one) = Tribulation
  7. Kingdom = Great White Throne Judgment

As meaningful as the flood myth itself.

Irrelevant, AV -- if you have nothing to contribute, kindly retreat to one of your counting threads.

If Allah is the God of Abraham then he had a whole bunch of sons. You know, those sons of God that mated with the daughters of man and whose offspring created so much evil (at least according to your story) that God had to flood the world to destroy his evil grandkids.

If that's your answer, kindly don't tell me that Christians and Muslims worship the same God and expect me to believe it.

Fair enough -- until you learn what you're talking about, I'll go with Christians and Muslims worshiping different gods.

During the "divine right of kings" days, the church taught that commands from the king came straight from god. i suppose they would pull out your toenails to warm you up, and then get into the serious torture if you expressed any skepticism.

the reason that the bible is trustworthy, and certain people know the one tru translation of the one true book of the one true religion is that they had, yes, the miraculous luck, like a otter winner, to be born into or stumble into the one true faith.

It just is trustworthy, and its just good luck to find that out.

I wasn't the one telling you, AV -- don't you read these threads anymore?

And frankly, your beliefs on this matter aren't significant enough for me to expect anything from you -- you're just not that important in the big picture.
