Know that this victory comes at the cost of other lives.

Imagine having a sick child or loved one in which conventional medicine will not help them, but yet embryonic stem cells would cure them... Rather than use the cells of an aborted or miscarried baby to save a life we would rather bury the fetus all because of one groups belief system...

I chose to be an organ donor because I consider it beyond selfish to die and to let my flesh go to waste when that flesh could save the life of another human being.

Now, does me wanting to use fetuses for medical research and treatment mean I endorse the intentional wholesale slaughter of unborn babies to generate a medical industry? No.

Would/Could that be a possible concern? Yes.

So does that mean we throw the baby out with the bath water? No.

THere are plenty of normal abortions and miscarriages to sustain research and treatment efforts....

*sigh*

Stem cell research is the future of medical treatment. Already, the rich in this country fly to Europe to get advance stem cell treatment because the US is behind in this area of technology thanks to rulings like this one.

All this really does is promote unsafe abortions. It looks good on paper and makes you feel good inside, but in reality, it does nothing but make safe abortions harder to get, which in turn makes desperate women make unsafe decisions. The way to reduce abortion, because we're likely never to stop them completely, is by allowing better sex education, as well as easier, better, and cheaper access to birth control and other women's healthcare services.

I don't see the article mentioning the bill being reworked, are they just sending the law that was struck down back out to be struck down again?

Senate Bill 8, a top priority of Gov. Greg Abbott, would add a state ban to the late-term procedure opponents refer to as "partial birth" abortion, which already is prohibited under federal law,

Super double illegal!

this will never hold up...what a waste of texan tax dollars...

Unborn children should not have to die for science.

except they're not dying for science...science is instead simply benefiting from them, as they should.

Don't get nuance in the feel good simplistic wedge issue.

Conservatives only care about saving money. When it comes to tax dollars paying for food, insurance, better schooling, programs and housing for the poor. Or anything that help the sick and poor. At least it seems like, they do a lot of fighting to stop things, that help these people.

I tried to discuses that with my aunt, that had a few legal abortions. When she was younger. She said if women die or something happens in a botched abortion . That's Gods punishment. But she asked God for forgiveness and she's saved now. Since she was able to have a safe legal abortion. So basically its their problem

They prefer a women to keep their legs close and not nave sex at all, unless they are married.

Embryo stem cells are not cures.
This is the part where I post a bunch of links that you will not read showing you that you are dead wrong.

What diseases and conditions can be treated with stem cells? | Eurostemcell

I'm only going to post one, along with the fact that research in this area is still EARLY.
Our own stem cells or donors work fine.

Look. The way science works is every material has a list of properties and attributes. Take metals. Gold and Aluminum are both metals. In some things their properties are similar and overlap, for instance they both conduct electricity fairly well. But they have differences, like Aluminum is much stronger

Stem cells are the same way. There are some areas in which all stem cells share commonality and there are some areas where certain stem cells have properties or attributes that others do not. Given the complexity of biological systems within the human body, it is beyond naive for you to actually think that all stem cells are the same.

Obviously, if scientist could use adult stem cells instead of fetal stem cells they'd use adult stem cells. It would be a 100,000 times cheaper and 10,000,000 times more readily available. Do you honestly believe that scientists simply just "prefer" to use embryonic stem cells when other, cheaper, and more readily stem cells do the same thing?

Unborn children should not have to die for science.

Who is advocating the death of unborn children? I am certainly not. The fact (I know, acknowledging facts is painful for you, bear with me).... the fact is 10% to 20% of pregnancies end in miscarriages. So the cells are readily available just from that alone so there is no "need" to advocate the deaths of unborn children.

Miscarriage: Signs, causes, and treatment | BabyCenter

This is the same logic behind organ donations. Does having an organ donor program promote the death of adults? Does organ donations result in an industry that goes out and kills adults just for organs?

That's some Hitler philosophy there. You think God Almighty wants this?

If you look at history, every single medical advance has always met resistance by religious types like yourself who feel they know what God wants.

When vaccinations came out, there was opposition of putting animal products in our bloodstream...

WHen organ transplants came out there was opposition to "Playing God" and the arguments for the creation of a death industry in which people would be hunted down for their organs...

Now, it is stem cells.

I want scientists to have access to all types of stem cells. THe scientific method will figure things out. Obviously, if adult stem cells can work then that is what will be used since that would be way cheaper and more plentiful. But we don't know what we don't know and it takes time, effort, and research to figure things out. Meanwhile, 10% to 20% of pregnancies will end in miscarriage regardless so why not use that unfortunate event to do some good? Why not use the death of one to save the life of another?

How could you be for organ donation and yet against this? It is exactly the same thing, exactly...

The irony here is, denying and opposing embryonic stem cell research is more pro-death than most wars and armed conflicts.

500,000 - 600,000 people die every year in the US to cancer. Then when you think of other ailments like diabetes (29 million have diabetes) the number of people who will die or have severe health problems per year is in the millions...

And Embryonic Stem cell research has a high probability chance of either curing or treating the above afflictions.

In the US, the religious Right has set the entire medical industry back decades on this issue.
