Do you have that same opinion about skilled labor wherein a person earns $80k or more per year?
A lot of nurses make well north of $80k and their work environment sounds horrible. idk that I’d call their pay bad (though it varies widely by institution) but the environment is a huge disincentive. I’d say the same even for well-paid construction workers.

I earn less than $60k per year, and I would have no problems at all working in a bad work environment, such as a hospital, or as a ILA longshoreman, in order to earn at least $80k per year.

You say that now, but give it time. I don't know what sort of work you do now, but certain things aren't sustainable and wear on you after a while.

However, there are millions of Americans who choose to stay in these tough skilled labor well paying jobs long enough to collect a good pension and earn up good money in 401K plans.

Nurses are considered skilled labor. They often do alot of very physically demanding tasks, as well. And 80,000 dollars isn't necessarily alot of money in certain areas of the country.

Nurses are paid very well. I've worked in hospitals the last 16 years. $80,000 a year is good money where I live. The cost of living is much lower than up North.

$80,000 a year is good money where I live. The ER nurses have the toughest job for nursing in a hospital but they are compensated well.
