Cite cases. Until you do so, it's just empty rhetoric, and can hardly be discussed in any intelligent manner. You will see some examples of how to cite cases on the previous page, where Alarum and HRE did so.

here, put this on your "favorites" list and check in from time to time. It shows you what CNN and Bill Mahr never tell you about.

Aww, you poor thing. Now your school can't be a bubble of imaginary land amdst the reality of the rest of the US public school system! It's too bad that you'll have to now live like the rest live!

Actually, it is too bad, and I hope that instead of making you predjudiced against the people being tossed around by the system, it wakes you up the reality of the situation.

It almost sounds like you're proving my case...schools used to be nice and have classes like Television/broadcasting, shop class, and home-economics...but now, they're replaced with BD classes (glorified baby-sitting sessions that take up four classrooms that could otherwise be put to good use).

It's a sad reality what our schools have come to. And I'm so sorry that I'm not as "evolved" as you must be to just wake up and accept that I'm being robbed of many academic opportunities in school and make it okay. I think I, along with other students who actually work hard, deserve to be mad about the downfall of the school system.

I went to that site and did a search for "ACLU" and didn't find anything. Perhaps you need new sources?

Who is Bill Mahr? And what is his fiduciary duty to tell me stuff?

Here's an interesting page from the ACLU website:

http://www.aclu.org/ReligiousLiberty/ReligiousLiberty.cfm?ID=16295&c=142

ACLU of Nebraska Defends Church Facing Eviction by the City of Lincoln
August 11, 2004
LINCOLN --The American Civil Liberties Union of Nebraska today announced that it would defend a Presbyterian church from a forced eviction by the city.
"There's no reason for the city to force the Church of the Awesome God from its home, and the city is violating both the First Amendment and federal law in doing so," said Tim Butz, Executive Director of the ACLU of Nebraska.

OhhJim again-You won't find the above case in any Republican or Christian literature, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Nope, never had to because I've done well enough to stay out of those types of schools. And stereotyping has to come from some truth, otherwise why would it exist? It's not exactly something to be proud of to be sent to alternative schools in my area...i don't know about yours.

Well, I could stereotype the public schools in your area for producing idiots given the comments you've made but I choose not to, no matter how strong a case you make in favor of it.

My son goes there by choice...I know many of his classmates that have been sent there. They are mostly good kids with problems. I wouldn't expect someone like you to understand making wrong choices. Careful though, one day that charmed life you're living will come crashing down around you.

Make uninformed comments directed at my family and try to cover it up with indirect speech. Your insinuations are loud and clear.

Nah...
But thanks, though, for the dashingly generous comments you made. You really convinced me that all my hard work to stay in a good program in a good school is really worthless in the real world.

now i undestand why people must "roll their eyes" when you tell them you're a Christian.

No, I would know about making wrong choices..I'm human afterall...but i don't make others pay for my decisions nor do I try to gloss them over. How lovely of you to assume that my life is charming, as well.

And at 41, (as well as being "as sharp as marble") you sure made a great role model for me by calling someone less than half your age an "idiot." I guess that sure makes you feel grown up.

Seriously?.... two things immediately spring to mind: the dehumanizing of the "other" in order to justify their oppression and maintain the current social power relations or simple mindedness.... can't think of anything else offhand.

I'm wondering what everyone's justifications are for this? Is it not state endorsement of a religion?
The state always endorsed a religion ever since its beginning. It just allows others without persecution. Did you know that the Supreme Court building has the engravings of law people and in the center is Moses and the ten commandments?

you just insulted his boy... who is a very bright and well-spoken young man by the way.... it is not surprising that a father will defend his child that way. Age has nothing to do with it. He would have said the same to me or to someone older than him.... and he would have been right to do so.

*and I say insult... not because I think that a pregnant girl or a kid who broke a law is a morally inferior person but because of the inference that you made when you used those terms*

.... and then I read his response and see that Skippy isn't in alternative school after all.... oh well.

Charter school = college prep. You have to apply to get in.

I've done some work with kids in alternative schools and they are good kids.
I hate stereotypes.
I presented the story of my son to make you think about your comments (which obviously didn't work).
These kids are people too, with families that love them.

So lets review the evidence:

Sometimes the ACLU supports Christian causes
Sometimes the ACLU does not support Christian causes
Most of the ACLU's cases have nothing to do with Christianity

Could it be that the ACLU is interested in an issue other then Christianity, and only cares when it overlaps? Something like, I don't know, free speech?

I don't disagree with a thing you say about the students...

it's just that I've seen the school system slipping in my area due to many things (busing being one of them) and it's none of the students faults. But I've worked really hard at my school (which is not the greatest in the world and is certainly no comparison to private schools) but I've made the best with what I have. and after all that work on student council, peer mediators, and other organizations to improve the school, it's still falling apart and that's what is so disheartening and why I'm so heated about the school system.

I will apologize if it seemed like my only reason was busing...though that all happned before my time, I have parents who bear witness to it all.

I have worked with students like the ones you spoke of, as well...through peer mediation. And I hate stereotypes, too, but I have learned to live with some of them through everything I've experienced at my school, in my community, etc. I live in NO Utopia.

Yes, i just gave a boring story about my life above, but i needed to clear up a few things.

One of your comments struck close to home with me...I wanted you to reconsider what you said.

We're good.
