Jordan lowered the child and looked both ways. No one was nearby. Good.
"I do mean that with my whole heart. I would rather die than graduate here. I don't know exactly what happens, but I do know this. My older brother graduated here and just before the end of his last year, he called to warn me not to come. He never returned home after that. And you know what the really freaky thing is...??"
He checked the hallway again.
"My parents didn't seem to care. It's like they knew he wouldn't be coming home. They barely even said goodbye to me. It's like they didn't care. Some of the other students have realized the same things. So I ask you now: why us??? Why are we here away from the rest of the world, secluded to monitor our abilities?? The only one here who can't relate to that is Skyla... but she's a different story all together.
"But I'm babbling on here. Look, I'll get us out f here. Who knows, maybe your parents will take yu back, but I know I won't have a home to go to."
He checked the hall for the last time.
"A few of us have figured out a way to talk without the risk of being overheard. How good are you at climbing ropes???"
