After years of debate, I've finaly decided I want to get a tattoo. I just don't know what I wasnt to get. I know I want somthing that identifies me whith christ, and the most improtant thing is that I want somthing that lables me as a servent or slave. I'll take any ideas. I'm kinda lost here.

i know you won`t reply but we are sons of god not slaves,see the lost son,older brother becomes servantlike.
lots of people do have a verse of scripture,but just the location(john 3:16).this also then has the ability to be a witnessing tool as people ask you what it means..

Our church thinks stained glass is too much for a church. Churches shouldn't do anything to distract those there for God.

I'v decided I want a visible brand on my body advertising that Christ owns me. I'm still unsure of the best way to go about expressing that message so I'm asking for suggestions

Just have it done tastefully and in an inconspicuous place. At least here in the conservative midwest, people with flagrant or obvious body art are disadvantaged in reaching the upper echelons of the business and professional communities.

Don't use God as an excuse to 'brand' yourself. The truth is you want a tat because you think it will be good for your image (whatever that is). Nothing wrong with that I guess but since your doing it for YOU and not for GOD pick out something you like. Just know that turning Christianity into a fashion statement isn't exactly a sign of mature faith...and some of us DO roll our eyes and laugh about it

No, don't get a tattoo, cause my grandma doesn't like tattoos, so they're obviously a sin, regardless of God not caring about tattoos.

Don't get any of that straight edge stuff. Get something you're going to like 50 years from now. In other words, not something that immediately strikes you as "cool." Get something classy and classic. Simple would be a better idea. Avoid anime style characters. Avoid rocker stuff, especially the name of a band. Avoid anything that has something to do with your current life style that could change. Don't get a girlfriend's name.

A cross, crucifix, or triquetra would be my main recommendations.

And get it in some place you can cover if need be. Like your shoulder, back, or chest. Forearm isn't a great idea, unless you like wearing long sleeves in the middle of summer because you can't let your boss at the nice job know you have a tattoo.

Don't be an idiot and get it on your face.

I'm tired of seeing that verse being used to justify cultural rules. I could argue that you having long hair is like not mowing the church's lawn. Nudists could argue that wearing clothes is like covering the church with a tarp. A drag queen could argue that my not wearing makeup is like leaving the church unpainted.

Let the temple be in decent shape so that it's usable to worship God, but let the person inside that's worshipping God be comfortable doing so.

I'd suggest the normal symbols, somewhere that can be covered though for desk jobs etc.

If you really want one, a few people at my school have gotten small fish symbols on their ankles and inconspicuous places like that. I understand the reasoning, that it's supposed to be a sign of commitment to God, but the risks and the idea of letting someone draw on me with a needle are too much for me.

Just remember, something small is probably okay, but if you get something large and hard to hide you might have a hard time in the future with job interviews and such. People tend to be wary of those with tattoos, even if they are Christian symbols.

He asked opinions so I gave one. Fortunatly no one had to agree. If he wants one get it I am not going to go find him and stop him. Sorry you need something besides God to focus on in church. Good day.

At what point did I say I focus on the stain glass windows? I said it's an aid to help focus. There's a bit of a difference.

For example, I'll bet your church reads scripture during church, possibly sings hymns. Get's you to focus on God. It's like that.

Take the money that you would spend on a tatoo and give it to the service of the LORD JESUS CHRIST.
