  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I use them... only have for 3 years. I wish I would've used them sooner--so much cleaner! Anyway, TSs is not common, but it DOES happen. A friend of a member of our church got it... and as far as I know, is doing fine now.

Know your flow... use the lowest absorbancy you can... and the whole 8 hour thing... stick to it. Altho... I don't always... *shrugs* lol!

I have also been using them for about 4 years. I have never had TSS, and I am one of those weird people who will forget that I am wearing tampons and will leave them in for up to 15 hours! I know....not very safe, but I'm just saying I've never had it. I wouldn't recommend wearing them that long though!!!

I love tampons! They are so dry and don't make me feel as though I am wearing a diaper.

Im glad to hear that not many have suffered from TSS. However, most of us may wear our tampons for more than eight hours, we shouldnt. :p Even when i forget sometimes, lols.

I wish i discovered them earlier, they are so much cleaner and comfortable! I've been using them for about three years now and i havnt seen any symptoms of TSS, thank god.

Thank guys for sharing!

Yea, its true, you shouldnt keep them in for a very long time. I guess its not a good idea to go to bed with them? I do that, i probably shouldnt.

I myself, like you, dont have to worry about keeping the tampon in for so long. Becasue of the fact the flow is heavy the first day, your constantly changing it.

Godbless.

Our pastor got it one time when she was pregnant and she and the baby almost died. Both were fine. I guess you can get it even if you aren't bleeding.

I think the danger of tampons is that the cotton is bleached. Look for unbleached cotton.

Why would you need a tampon when you are pregnant though?

I was thinking the same. On second thought, i think somewhere i have read or heard that some pregnant women get their period during pregnancy. Ill have to look into that again.

She wasn't wearing tampons!! She was pregnant. Wearing tampons is one source of contracting TSS. You don't necessarily have to be wearing tampons to contract it. I'm not sure how she contracted it, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't from tampons. She was almost due. The doctor said to her husband, we can save either her or the baby; but not both. Both she and the baby ended up being fine.

Some women bleed when they are pregnant. I did. Bleeding during pregnancy isn't always a bad sign, sometimes it is.

TSS is caused by the common bacteria Staphylococcus aurus which normally live harmlessly on the skin, nose, armpit, groin or vagina in one of every three people. In rare cases certain strains of these bacteria can produce toxins that produce TSS.

Anyone can get TSS- men, women, and children. Half of the reported cases of TSS are associated with women using tampons; half result from localized infections, for example, following burns, boils, insect bites, or surgery.
