I have 3 children. I have bled when I was pregnant with each of them. In the first trimester (when you are just finding out that you are pregnant), implantation will happen. This is when the baby, who is only extremely tiny at this stage, burroughs into the uterine wall. When this happens, blood vessels can get broken resulting in something that looks like a period. Sometimes the bleeding is even "on time" which really tricks you into thinking that you had your period and not really pregnant at all. This happened to me when I was pregnant with my son and I didn't find out that I was even pregnant until the following month. I was almost 10 weeks pregnant when I found out. Sometimes this bleeding can be lots (2-3 pads a day) sometimes only a little. It is still really scary. Some women don't get it at all. Sometimes you wonder how the baby can still survive when you are losing so much blood; it still does though (God willing). Other times it is a miscarriage. Bleeding during pregnancy isn't unusual for me, at any stage. I just know to take it easy. Use pads during this time rather than tampons. I think a doctor told me that.

Guys are lucky. I agree. Although, if I was a guy I would hate shaving my face everyday for my whole life. I guess I could always grow a beard if I didn't like to shave (if I was a guy). At least this messy stage comes to an end someday and you don't usually bleed when you are pregnant (or on the pill sometimes). Guys always have to shave.

Interesting! Learning somthing each day I didnt know any women bleed during their pregnacy. Although if that ever happend to me, i would be scared, i dont know why, but it would make me nervous.

However, i guess its confusing when you get your period when you think you are pregnant. One may think that they are not pregnant at all and then perhaps drink alcohol thinking that they are not pregnant at all. Perhaps thats why women go to the doctor often in the very begining when they think that they are pregnant?

Haha, as for being a guy, shaving can be a big hassel. But, i think if i was a guy, i would like to grow in a beard.

I love tampons coz they make me feel less icky at that time (altho i still feel pretty low.lol) i wear mine for far too long, I'm sure, because I generallyhave a very heavy flow and so always wear super-industrial tampons.lol. Although TSS is very serious, I guess i just assume "it wont happen to me".

And on the 'bleeding during pregnancy' topic, a girl i went to school with woke up one night to find out she was in labour, after having her period for the last 9 months!!! She didnt know she was preggers, still got her "period", hardly gained weight/a bump and had even been to the doctors for a work medical during the time she was preggers and he didnt pick it up!!!! It was in all the mags and TV shows over here.

Oh my goodness! I have heard about stuff like this on talk shows, but I always find it interesting. Wow! She must have been so unprepared to have a newborn. She must have had someone to do some shopping for her and the baby to have stuff ready for when she comes home with the baby.

The first i knew about it was when i bumped into my friend Tim in the city and he asked if i wanted to go clubbing that weekend coz he was sposed to go with this girl we went to school with, but she couldnt co she'd had a baby. God forgive me, but i was thinking "fancy planning to go clubbing that close to a due date" and he must have seen my face coz he said "oh, she didnt know she was pregnant" and explained it all and then, yeh, it was on the news and in the magazines.

She had been working on the minesites up north (during which time she had been to the Dr for a medical for something work-related), come home to spend time with her Mum, and woke up in the night in pain, tried to sleep it off, was in agony, went to the toilet and delivered the baby, went into shock and woke up her Mum. They had nothing, no diapers, no blankets, no clothes, nowhere for baby to sleep or anything!!!!!!! Luckily, she was home at the time, not on a minesite!!!!

I think it's incredible, but also a bit of a rip-off!! lol, i have always thought that at least when im pregnant i will have 9 months free from periods!lol.

It's shocking, hey? And to think, she may have been still drinking, there were no check-ups, no folate tablets, nothing like that, the baby and mother are both so blessed to be so healthy!!!!!!

Wow, how interesting and breathtaking this story is to me. I am glad that the baby and the mother are both healthy. What a blessing!

Haha, aw. Thats okay, i know somone who did that.

One girl at work last summer needed a pad really bad! However, i didnt have one so i gave her one of my Tampons i have in my bag. I told her how to use it. When she came back she was walking funny. I asked her how everything went, she said it was slightly uncomfortable.

I went to the bathroom afterwards. I looked into down into the garbage (i didnt meant too), and i didnt see the tampon applicator there. I went back and told the girl that i didnt see the aplicator. She looked at me and said "What applicator?".

Later, she realized that she left the applicator inside of her. lols.

I pretty much don't like them. More of a sanitary issue than comfort though. I dislike that the most commonly used ones are bleached, contain chemicals, and are not sterilized. Also they make cramps worse for me, at least. So I've stopped using them.

There was someone from my city who delivered a baby who was concieved from outside her uterus. I had never heard of that before. Anyways, she and the baby were fine despite a horribly painful pregnancy. She even had ultrasounds and nobody knew that the baby was growing outside her uterus. Now she and the baby are famous and are getting calls from even Australia and many other countries (I live in Canada). The odds are really slim that a baby would live outside the uterus, never mind survive.

Would she get a period every month? The baby is not in her uterus.

Virginity has to do with sexual relations...not using tampons or doing splits. Many young girls start using tampons early on because they are swimmers or athletes. The hymen, which partially covers and protects the opening to the vagina is so fragile that it is stretched or torn during many activities. I see no reason why your virginity can be lost.

However, the decision is yours.

I dont have an answer to your questions. But i have never heard a story like this either. Will the baby live? (forgive me).

Ya, I've heard of those things. It's the reason why women were only allowed to ride side saddle on a horse in the olden days. I know virginity is simply to do with sexual relations, but the only physical way to prove a woman's virginity is to keep the hymen intact.
