  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ya, I've heard of those things. It's the reason why women were only allowed to ride side saddle on a horse in the olden days. I know virginity is simply to do with sexual relations, but the only physical way to prove a woman's virginity is to keep the hymen intact.

Yet many virgins are not intact. Actually I have read somewhere that pornographers would market their women who were intact due to being more er..stretchy... as virgins. Don't take my word for it though.

Anyway, when physical evidence is unreliable(such as with use of tampons or other erosive activities), it's a matter of trust.

Tsarina,I just came across this thread before I head out for the night and here's what happened to me.I really don't want to go into details though.:(
I had a reaction to a product called Rely,it was 1978. I ended up in the hospital with TSS,then just beginning to be known as a concern to tampon use.It was the chemical they used in the absorbancy process.I had a high fever, ended up with some paralysis that has ceased.I couldn't walk,or talk right for a few years.I was one of several teens in my state that were diagnosed. In my case,it was a company product that was untested and new.

Wow, that's frightening! Many women died of TSS one year around that time because of Rely, I've read. I'm glad that you came through it! :)

It was important in the olden days to have the womens hymen intact. If it wasnt, it could've been horrible against her in marraige and family. Back then, a women was worth a lot more when it was proven that she was a virgin.

Although, im some countries now this is still the case, i still think it's kind of stingy personally because the hymen can be broken really easily. It wouldnt be fair if the women who is getting married, is accused of having intercourse due to her hymen not intact, when she really didnt have intercourse and the hymen broke on itself.

Godbless.

when the first cases of TSS started to be diagnosed, the major manufacturers of the tampons that women were having problems with took note and changed the material that they made their tampons out of. nowadays, it is very rare to hear of a TSS case. as long as you don't keep a super absorbent one in for more than the reccommended time, you should be fine, even if you sleep with one in. :)

I'm glad that its rare now, although some women do still get it here and there. Moreover, i have heard that it is best that one does not wear a tampon when they sleep. I wondery by, even when i break the rules and do this, lols.

Thank goodness we live in a day and age when virginity doesn't mean much!

This is the case in North America and some other places. However, many many other area's across the world will argue that Virginity means everything!

How sad, there are much more important things in lfe than whether one is a virgin on one's wedding night! I aways think it is wise to find out if one is sexually compatible before the marriage. So many marriages breakdown because people want different things from their sex life. I have been married for 36 years, and I have no regrets that my husband and I had anticpated our wedding night a good while before we married!

I understand what you are saying. :) However, its sad that so many marriages breakdown becasue people want different things from their sex life. I will never understand why the couple will not talk before hand about it. Or mabe they keep their desires a secret until after marriage and realize its way off from what each other wants? God knows. Even if they decide not to do anything before marriage for morality and relgious reasons, i dont see the problem in just 'talking' about it. Ah well.

Furthermore, your married for 36 years! :) Congrats for the many years, it's so sweet to hear that.

Godbless.

I have been using them since my mid teens. No problems at all.

I'm glad that there has been no problems since then. I hope it stays that way for you, and everyone else who uses tampons.

Take care.

I've used them for about 12 years now, without a problem. I find them so much more comfortable than pads. From talking with girlfriends, I've learned that for many (not all, obviously) who find tampons uncomforatable, it is because they are not inserting them correctly, or are using a larger size than needed.

Also, one other reason I use tampons
---grossness alert----- written in white, highlight to read---

I use my menstrual blood for gardening. Whith tampons I can just soak them in a gallon of water to get the blood back out, but with pads, most have silcon gel or else the cotton fluffs apart or something. Sorry TMI!

I remember a funny story my mom told me when I was a teenager about tampons. She recalled the first time she used them and she left the applicator in all day. She found it really painful to sit down.:D
