Honestly I am not sure how much I agree with that, especially when it comes to men. I have read that a person needs to make at least 70k a year to feel content and happy and anything above that does not add much in the way of happiness and contentment.

Yeah, I've already touched on that earlier in my thread. Sometimes things that are a defect in one area can be a positive quality in another.

Sharp elbows and climbing over dead bodies to reach the top,
is hardly a talent.

What you bad at?

Controlling my salt intake. I also have been having problems harvesting a deer with my bow (haven't killed one in 10 years). :(

For most money is a constant worry until you have enough. 70K sounds about right to end the worry. At 100k you don't even think about it. :D

What are some things you find yourself talented compared to the average person? In contrast.. what are some things you find difficult compared to the average person?

Talented: Being creative and imaginative. Writing (especially good with descriptives, visuals, and making the reader "feel" things). Learning quickly. Quite gifted musically. Drawing and sketching. A natural gift for photography. Able to memorize quickly and accurately.

Not So Talented: Visualizing abstracts (complex mathematics, for instance). Understanding vague or non-concrete ideas or thoughts from others. I am hopeless at multi-tasking.

I should maybe have mentioned that I began school one year after the war, things were very different then.

Europa in ruins and all that came with it.

You and I are about the same age. I started kindergarten in 1945. America was ascending in every way.

Good: intellectual pursuits, reasoning, music, silliness, tuning in to nature, fine motor skills, physical endeavor.

Less good: emotional self awareness, overcoming inertia, fashion sense.

Strength: Memory and recall. I’m a quick learner. My brain absorbs facts and other such information easily and can retrieve it when needed. I did well in school without much effort. I was always good at trivia contests, and was told I should try to be a contestant on Jeopardy. Though as I’ve aged, I’m not nearly as fast on the recall.

Weakness: Depth perception. I have a form of monovision. My left eye is myopic (nearsighted.) My right eye is hyperopic (farsighted.) As a result, I’ve always had some difficulty with depth perception. It’s not severe. For most tasks, I compensate by mainly using my right eye. I can drive without problems. Even in my late 60s, my distance vision tests out at 20/40 uncorrected. But at softball, or football, I was lousy at catching. Because you have to judge where the ball will be at close range. I was never able to do this accurately. And I never wanted to wear glasses or contacts.

The first million is difficult, after that it goes like a dance.

But come to think of it.

A million is just a row of 0's behind a 1, or what?

I have read that a person needs to make at least 70k a year to feel content

Being content and happy comes from within...

Is there something to not having to worry about money? Yes... but it doesn't make you either content or happy unless you already are.

A person can be content and happy making 20k just as easily as making 70k..

At my age a $million is what you leave to your kids, as you can't possibly spend it on yourself.
